"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

And I know people have been saying a sold out party night is still lower crowds than a low crowd day... I beg to differ. We were all over the park multiple times and it was mobbed EVERYWHERE at all different times.

Also heard stories from a few fellow guests about how ugly things got with the party merchandise. People shoving others out of the way and yelling.

I went last year and will be going 1 more time this year, but I agree. I was shocked at the crowds last year. It was NOT very limited, for a limited ticket event.

I'm going to do a longer write up at the airport later today (boo). But I will say this.

Mnsshp is my favorite disney event. I've been to 10+ parties, half of those sold out. Here are my quick thoughts:

If you were there for rides it was great.

If you were there for Halloween experiences it sucked.

No way they didn't sell more tickets than ever before this year. Either that or there were so many character cuts that it really showed.

We did the daisy Donald and Minnie line, cruella and the Tarzan crew. Fireworks and the second parade. Old hag and TTA. That is all we had time for. Compared to other sold out parades in the past...we did horribly. Everywhere we turned the character lines were huge.

We did about 6 treat spots. At one I was literally given one piece of candy.

Our second parade in frontier land was 5 rows deep of people.... Never even heard of that.

I love mnsshp so much and I am very, very disappointed. I'll write more details and answer people's questions they asked me later at the airport.

Some places did give only a piece or two of candy but some did handfuls. They were giving ice cold chocolate away as we left the park last night. I'll hold my full judgement on this years till after Friday.

Just to confirm...did they have the pumpkin spice waffles at Sleep Hollow? Heard they were not serve that this year. :(

:disrocks: This information is so very helpful for me in planning our first MNSSHP on Oct 1. First of all, no pumpkin waffle until Oct 5 has me puzzled! I mean, why Oct 5? Did they forget to order an ingredient and cannot get it in stock until Oct 5 for some reason? :drive:<-will this guy be driving like a mad man trying to get to MK in time for the party?

I look forward to more reviews as they trickle in and especially interested in Kenny the Pirate's report as well. We weren't planning on too many rides during the party. I want M&Gs and Halloween events/merchandise to occupy most of my time....throw in a few pieces of candy and I'll be a happy party goer....I really don't want to have to go to a second party. If we do add one on I hope I'll still be able to get tickets for it as we would definitely be waiting until after the first party. It would take some maneuvering of dinner ADRs but it isn't impossible to do. I wonder how many of the the future parties will sell out now? Do you think people will read reviews and automatically purchase second party tickets? Was THAT the plan all along? Things that make you go hmmmmmm :rolleyes1

Went to the party tonight. Shocked how busy it was (haven't read posts in a few days). I know it was sold out. Hardly got to do anything. Watched first parade in frontierland. Caught last parade in the middle of town square, 1st row. DH and I were so miserable (just being honest) we went to Guest Services and got refunds for the 9/18 party and 9/18 dessert party. I have absolutely no desire to deal with this again.
I thought Party tickets were non refundable? Did they give you any issues? Not that I want to cancel mine but would be great to know. Sorry you had a terrible time. I can imagine the last party which is my day will be extremely crowded as well.

Thanks for the report. This will be our first party and we are going on Halloween, which is already sold out, so I guess I can expect huge crowds. We probably will not wait in line to meet any of the characters or trick or treat until very late. May try to see parade/fireworks may not. We primarily want to just experience the party and ride a bunch of rides so hopefully that won't be too bad. Hoping Disney didn't decide to make this the year to sell a bunch more tickets for the event.

My guess is it would be more likely to make people try to get their money back and not go. In my opinion, the party is very expensive, to buy tickets for two parties because you can't do much at them to me makes no sense, but others may feel differently.

They are technically non refundable, HOWEVER, I know of many instances where people got their money back with little issue. I would never count on it though.

Holy crowds, Batman! That dessert party is starting to sound better. Too bad it's sold out for my dates.

Yeah, we actually have reservations for 10/29 and based on these reports, I may keep them. Our priorities are just Halloween activities. We want to hit all the trick or treating, maybe a character or two, and see the parade and fireworks. So maybe the dessert party is the way to go.

I hate to sound lazy, but if anyone sees any good reports from the party, could you post the links? Thanks!

Did the characters that are dressed in Halloween costumes do a break at 7 to "change," does anyone know?

Was there only ONE dance party this year?? Every year I have ever been, there have always been 2 dance parties, and both were always very busy. If they have cut back to one dance party this year, that will also add to the feeling of crowds - those 100-200 people have to be somewhere else.

Yes, because the Diamond Horseshoe is closed for refurb.

I ended up going to the party last night and didn't have a good time at all - and I've loved it in the past.

It was extremely crowded - I waited in one of the treat lines for 30 minutes (the one by Stitch), the pin store was literally just one giant line with no organization to speak of, and the walkways seemed like wall to wall people in many places. The wait times for rides were fine, but I can ride Space Mountain anytime. I got about a half-full bag of candy from the treat lines, since it was early in the night.

I ended up leaving the park before the fireworks because some jerk with a huge stroller rammed into me and knocked me over, causing a lot of pain in my already-bad knee, so there was no way I could continue to stand and walk for the rest of the night. As a result, I didn't see the parade either, since I had skipped the first one in hopes of it being less crowded for the second.

If I had paid for my ticket, I would have been asking for a refund.

Oh this makes me very sad. This will be our first party, 29th...and I was so excited...now I feel that I have pumped up my little girl with excitement that I can't deliver on and wasted money. :(
