When do you think we can expect the announcement of what these medals are going to look like........... I'm really excited to see

@Keels I hope the doctor has good news for you!!

Let's see...they JUST released the Tink medals this past weekend, so that's about 3 months ahead of time. I'm thinking June maybe? Hopefully sooner, maybe they'll be out at the Tink expo! :)

Thanks for all the good juju you guys!

Update: Swelling is down, but it still feels a little stiff (not uncommon) and I've got some nice bruising (also not uncommon). I got to talk to my doctor back home and he thinks everything is OK, but has me going in for an x-ray tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Gotta love doctors in the digital age, though!

Keels, I hope that the doctor's visit/X-ray yields favorable results for your foot! :goodvibes

Thanks! Everything went well and looks good! No breaks or issues with screws or anything else. My ortho (from when I was a teenager - that's the last time I had surgery) thinks, if anything, it could just be a result of scar tissue. Between running and cycling, this has easily been the most consistent high-impact activity I've done since, oh, right after my last surgery back in '01.

So, I'm going to ride my bike for a little bit today since it seems like everything is thawing out and then squeeze in a short run tomorrow. 10k on Saturday, when it's going to be BRUTALLY cold.

Back to the grind!

Running in the low 30's ain't no picnic, but it's not that bad either, after a couple of miles to warm up a bit. For the WDW race I brought an old pair of sweats that I could discard along the way (they have a crew that collects them).

Unless it rains, if it rains may the savior of your choice have mercy on you.

High of 36 and 50% chance of rain. :(

I have a a bunch of cold weather gear, but no rain gear. I also run in minimalist shoes without socks, so it's too late for me to wear in a pair of running socks before now and Saturday, so I guess I'll just tape the heck out of my feet and hope for the best.

At least I will finally get to bust out my goosedown running vest! #SilverLining?

You'll be fine! Most important piece of rain gear, in my opinion, is a hat. Otherwise I never wear anything special if I need to run in the rain. :)

Awesome! I'm already used to running in a hat, so that will be no biggie. I still haven't found sunglasses I like for running, so I pretty much run in a ballcap every time out. I have ear warmers and gloves too, because I'm a baby and hate the cold.

No need for rain gear. You can pick up $1.99 disposable ponchos at Walgreens or Ace Hardware in a variety of colors. They fold up and fit in a pocket.
A trash bag works well too.

Hopefully you won't need either!!!

So glad to hear the good news, Keels!

I'm a Californian, so I'll bet that I'm the worst weather wimp ever: I think that it's 'chilly' in the mid-40s and I have never run in the rain. Good to know that I can make do with a ball cap and/or poncho!

Oh, if it's under 60 degrees, I get a major case of the sads.

I sleep with my bed warmer turned on year-round and I've been known (on more than one occasion) to run the gas fireplace in our living room until the thermostat says its 80. :/

I have no problem with 110-degree days, but 55? I want to die.

It got up to 50 today and was beautifully sunny (that plays a big part!), so I took my new bike out for a spin. 10 miles later (and a stop at the neighborhood pub, natch), and I'm a happy girl.

I can deal with cold if it's sunny. Cold and dreary? Ugh. Kill me. I can convince myself to wear flip flops and a sundress (with a jacket) if it's 50 and sunny.

Welp. There's currently 2 inches of snow on my back deck. I'm going to go on a limb and say this 10K isn't happening tomorrow. :(

6 inches just melted away here yesterday...in Mississippi. You better believe we were freaking out with all of that snow. Maybe it will melt quickly in time for your 10K. If it's like snow here, it doesn't last long.

No joke - we are weather-dumb here in Texas. That said, it hasn't been above freezing since Wednesday afternoon and the snow is supposed to turn into freezing rain this evening. The forecast doesn't have it getting above freezing until late tomorrow.

I just feel bad for the organizers. They'll likely still have the half and full to run on Sunday, but all of the Saturday set entry records - and in record time (there are so many kids running the Kids 5K that they had to split it into three races!). It's one of the biggest city-wide events here in Fort Worth, so it's just kinda sad that this terrible weather is happening now.

They just sent out an email that they can't even open the Expo yet because of road conditions! I was prepared to run in freezing cold, and even rain, but at this point - I just don't want to get hurt.

*sigh*

What in the hell did I do now? While walking the dog last night, we were hot on the trail of something, probably the neighborhood fox, so we went for an all out sprint. Apparently I'm not much of a sprinter. About midnight I woke up with a sore foot. It's been painful all day so far. Something like wearing a shoe that's too small (no visible swelling/bruising however). I guess I'll give it a couple of days rest and see how it feels.

What a bummer! Especially with so many people registered and excited to run :(

Sending healing vibes your way! I hope that it's just sore muscles and nothing worse.

Oh noes!! It's going to sound silly (and it's actually REALLY uncomfortable), but freeze a water bottle until super hard (I use one of those stainless steel ones because I'm a masochist) and then place it on the ground. Roll your foot over it, applying a lot of pressure but not standing on it, back and forth. It will hurt while you're doing it and then will feel nice. Especially if the pain is in your midfoot or the ball/front of your foot.

What a bummer! Especially with so many people registered and excited to run :(

I know, right? Snowed out. They completely canceled all the races tomorrow (5K, 10K and three flights of Kids 5Ks - 18,000 runners in total!), and then are pushing back the half, full and ultra on Sunday. I'm really mostly disappointed that I won't get the awesome spur medal. :(
