Sorry to hijack but I was wondering - is this the same course as the Princess Half?
Exactly... Banners, theming and entertainment will be different but it is the same measured course.

Yes, the pre-race staging area is the post race family reunion area.
Hi Pluto! I've been running my butt off to get ready for my proof of time 10k next week. And I dropped off the exercise challenge thread bc I was just having a really busy month and kept forgetting to post. But I'm still here, anxiously counting down to wine and dine! And nervously looking towards tink/glass slipper....
Noticed something interesting today...I was playing around on google maps near Hollywood Studios and noticed some of the images up there now were
taken the day of a Disney race.
I noticed the Christmas Trees up at Hollywood Studios and Epcot, but I do not see the marathon finish area in the Epcot Parking lot...anyway, thought you guys might be interested in taking a look:

My favorite songs to run to are... the best is Sure Shot by the Beastie Boys, because you can't, you won't and you don't stop.
I also love Jump Jive and Wail by Brian Setzer, Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, Unbelievable by EMF because I like to tell myself "why, yes, I am so unbelievable aren't I?!" while I run, and Barbra Streisand's I'm the Greatest Star from Funny Girl because... 'cause I'm the greatest star. I am by far. But no one knows it!
Now that I am not running the marathon I want to make sure my sister who iss till running has all the support we can give. Both my dad and I are available to meet her at points on the course so I was thinking what if we split up so we could meet her more times, Like one of us could meet her in MK, then the other could be at AK for her and the same for DHS and the finish. She's going to be on the slower side but we have park hoppers for that day so we can get into the parks to see her. What are the best places to try and catch her? I was actually thinking one of us would be at the WS in Epcot and then the other could be at the finish line...
Also what are the good spots to catch runners during the half? We don't have park tickeets for that day so can we get into MK to see them?

I like to start out with "Beautiful Day by U2", "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith to get warned up, by mid work out I'm on "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson, "Sister's are doin' it for themselves" by Eurhythmics, "Get the Party Started" by Pink, "Devil Inside" by INXS by then I'm raring to go for that finish with "Larger than Life" BSB's and ending with "Go the Distance" Michael Bolton![]()
For the full, tag teaming could go something like
Spectator 1
TTC
GF or Poly
WWoS
Finish
Spectator 2
Main
DAK (front gate on bus side)
Great Britain in WS
With the new course configuration it allows for a few extra spots. These are my initial thoughts. I do not think I would hit the DHS since it is awkward to get to. If you do prioritize it, avoid going into the park and watch from the bus stop area (as the runners start down the sidewalk to the canal).
For the half, things get wonky. Shoot for the TTC or Main. If you hit the TTC, then pick it back up at the Poly and then deadhead to the Finish at Epcot. It can be tight watching a midpack runner getting from the Poly/TTC to Epcot.
To ease your own burden, I'd say have one do the monorail loop--start at TTC, head to the Polynesian/Grand Floridian, and then to EPCOT and maybe finish waiting at the BC/YC or Boardwalk area up to the HS entrance.
My sister came out and cheered me on last year for the marathon and said with the traffic it took forever to get around on the buses. Actually, she was on the bus from Animal Kingdom and saw me going into Hollywood Studios. If one of you likes Animal Kingdom, go there and you'll be there when it opens. She was able to get right on Everest and ride it a few times without waiting in line!
Hi everyone! I just found is thread (thanks to another DISer on the January 2014 thread) - and have caught up on all 84 pages so far! I'm running the Donald half marathon - but it looks like there's others on here who are also just doing that race too
Quick introduction... this is my first ever Run Disney/long distance race... except for the Castaway Cay 5k in June! (It was unbelievably hot, but a great experience - I finished in just under 27 minutes). We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas (DVC home resort) January 9-14th - DH and my parents are coming too to support me.
I go to the gym regularly, but had rarely run outside; however, ever since hearing about the WDW marathon weekend about 6 years ago, I knew it was something I had to try one day. I registered for the Half Marathon in April, and that weekend went out for a 25 minute run. Nearly every weekend since then, I have been outside running and added 5-10 minutes to my time... and a couple of weeks ago I ran for 2 hours, for a distance of 13.5 miles!
I'm roughly using the Jeff Galloway 'experienced runner' training plan that is posted on the Run Disney site.. however I am finding that I prefer to run constantly (about 9 min/miles) than walk/run. It is 2x 45 minute runs in the week, cross-training 3 days a week and a longer run at the weekend. My 5 favourite songs, at the moment, on my iPod playlist are: 1 - I Love It - Iconapop 2 - Runaway Baby - Bruno Mars 3 - Iron Man 3 theme 4 - Stronger - Britney Spears/Kelly Clarkson/Kanye West
5 - Run the World - Beyoncé I'm reading several blogs on running, and listening to a couple of podcasts.. Mickey Miles and Another Mother Runner.... can anyone recommend any others? I am so excited for January, the months are flying by now! I'm raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation too, which is giving me extra motivation to get out there and train
Looking forward to counting down with you all... off to find the Donald 2014 thread! Emma

I am by no means a run expert. But when I was picking a training plan for the full I chose the Hal Higdon Intermediate 1 plan. I chose Hal's plans over Galloway because they do not push the run/walk/run method like Galloway does. I too prefer not to walk. I know ill likely be taking a few walk breaks for nutrition and fluid and there is nothing wrong with walking, actually I have read (and experienced) some walking can actually improve your overall time. But I'll train to run the 26.2, so far training is off to a good start, just need to stick with it until January!
Does anyone know when they release the speaker series information for the Expo? TIA
I have a training question. I am using the 30 week Hal Higdon plan training for the full. I was planning on turning my last 20 mile run into 23 for the mental perspective that once I've run 10 miles in a half I know I can finish. I've read on FB this is not a good idea because of glycogen depletion 3 weeks prior to the marathon. Advice anyone. Thanks!
