Official 2013 MVMCP Information

When do they give out the wristbands? And if we have magic bands do I still need to pick up tickets at willcall?
One last question... What happens when it rains? We're going tonight and it's supposed to rain all night :( will there be a parade? (I'm guessing no)
Thanks! :)

Wristbands are distributed beginning at 4:00p, either at the front of the park when you enter or at a couple of locations within the park (near the Hub and near Pirates are common).

You need your party tickets to enter, I strongly advise against doing anything to link party tickets to your MagicBands. So yes, swing by will call for your tickets.

Rain effects the party events in different ways. Unfortunately the parade is very susceptible to delay or cancellation due to the slick surfaces making it unsafe for the performers.

I hope the rain stays away and you still have a great time! :goodvibes

I will add that rain certainly can detract from the experience, but in some cases it can clear out the crowds too.

If it does rain be sure to ask around. Characters that were typically outdoors will be moved to indoor spots. When this happens lines stay short since people don't know to find them there. The photo in my signature was on a rainy evening in the MK. It was nice because that group normally met outside in Fantasyland with a long line. Instead we got a short line with a nice indoor backdrop.

During one of the recent MNSSHParties, rain delayed the first parade and the fireworks by at least thirty minutes. But in MOUCP, there are a lot of "movers" such as "ice skaters" and "skiers" who may have a very difficult time on slippery surfaces.

I hope the weather clears enough so everyone can experience the complete party!

During the party I referenced above, it poured BUCKETS early in the party. But not long after, the parade went on, in spite of wet pavement. They made some minor adjustments, like leaving Cinderella's horse-drawn carriage out, but it did go on. I wouldn't have missed it if I hadn't known it was supposed to be there.

What is the latest on this? When I called to order my tickets (because for some stupid reason you can't use Disney gift cards to buy them online :badpc:) the CM I spoke with recommended linking them to our MB/MDX account so we could reserve FP+ for the 4-7pm timeframe that day. But she also suggested using the actual tickets, rather than the Magic Band, to enter the party to ensure the right entitlement is used (rather than using a park day from our MYW tickets).

Given what I've been reading about the system it sounds like that's the best plan, but we all know how reliable CM information can be. Is there some potential problem I'm missing about doing it this way? I really would like to have those FP+ slots, because the party is our only MK day on a very short trip, but it isn't worth it if I'm going to end up wasting a ton of time at guest services to straighten out some problem.

You'd probably be fine doing this, I see your reasoning. As long as you know to use your separate party ticket to enter after 4:00p and not your MB (presumably with other ticket entitlements on it), I think you will be fine. The only potential danger I can think of is by using the MB (with both party tickets and regular MYW days on it) to enter for MVMCP there's some risk of the MM+ system taking a MYW day off of your tickets instead of the MVMCP.

That's a fantastic point because technically there is no FP+ service during the MVMCP.

So, if you think you've linked but the system doesn't actually link you and then you go through the tapstiles with your band, you've just used a park day.

AND, you've just used a FP+ day if you haven't booked all of your FP+ days at that point and had planned on booking some later in your trip.

You may get to the end of your trip and find you are suddenly one day short of everything and not know why.

I wouldn't link. All reports are that rides are walk-on during the party anyway. FP+ won't be much of an advantage.

But, if the PP enters using his MVMCP ticket and not his MagicBand, his MDE account will still show the remaining ticketed days. Because Fp+ is linked to the amount of ticketed days, the PP, in theory, should be able to have Fp+ for each day he enters the parks.

The resorts also have dated Holiday pins. I have a Boardwalk pin that has Happy Holidays 2010.

I was able to purchase the MVMCP Mickey/Minnie pin on eBay for 9.99 w/$2 shipping. I didn't think the price was that bad and I really wanted the pin with Mickey/Minnie to commemorate this year's party.

I'm VERY happy we got ours.. But It sucks they have sold out already...

Buying the pin off eBay wouldn't work for us, having the memory of picking out the pin is part of the fun..

True, picking out the pins is fun! In my case, due to DD's friendship with Mickey, I wanted/needed a MVMCP Mickey pin. And, it may very likely be gifted to her as CMs were not able to buy any merchandise unless they actually were attending a party...

Um, yikes! I already linked the mvmcp tickets to our bands...what complications do I have to watch out for?

Just make sure you don't use your MagicBands to enter the park. Go by will call and pick up your party tickets there, then use those to enter MK after 4:00p.

The question is whether the system will know to use the MVMCP ticket for admission or if it will take a day off your regular tickets.

Ohhhh, that makes sense! Crap! I went to will call early this AM and they told me I couldn't have paper tickets, to use my magic band. And then the CM checked my magic band and said it was loaded for the party. I'll have to go back this afternoon!

That's what I was thinking - that the problems are arising because the system doesn't know which ticket to use when there are multiples linked to the same band. But using the party tickets rather than the bands at the gate should be an adequate workaround for that issue.

You can't pull FP+ for during the party, but there are many reports of using party tickets to make reservations for the 4-7pm window and since that's our only MK day that would let us get more done. The party hours will mainly be devoted to shows and characters, but I know DD5 wants to ride Splash (her first trip being tall enough) and see the two new Fantasyland attractions since neither was open the last time she was there.

She only has a 2 day ticket and the FP+ reservations are already made for Epcot and Studios as our two for-sure park days. I might add a 3rd day to her ticket, or we might skip the parks on our last day if the weather is nice and spend the day swimming, playing putt-putt, and otherwise relaxing instead. But since the party is our only for-sure MK time I'd like to make the most of it, getting there right at 4 and using FP+ for those first couple hours if possible.

I wondered, I was looking at dates and hours for Magic Kingdom December the 16th. They're open late that Monday, and when you look at tickets for the Christmas party, that day isn't available. So does anyone know if they do the Christmas Party activities during Extra Magical Hours??

No, they only do Christmas party activities during the Christmas party. Extra Magical Hours just means the park is open late for resort guests, there are no extra activities.

Sort of. A week later, the day after the last party, they will start offering the parade and other entertainment from the Christmas party during regular prak hours.
