Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

I did the Princess as well last year with my neice.
We set at least 3 alarms to go off at 3:00AM!
I would suggest doing at least 1 and a wake up call too!!!

I'm running the Tinkerbell this weekend, so I have only two more small milage training runs left.
When I'm done with Tinkerbell I'll jump back into the longer weekend training runs of 10, 11 and 12 until the Princess.

I will be getting my Coast to Coast medal at the Princess. Woo hoo! :cool1:

Good luck everyone on training.
Check out the Tinkerbell thread to see how we are all doing.
The excitement is building with it only being 4 days away!!! :yay:

Haha, ya I am definitely going to be adding a few alarms. Plus, my friend and I are in the same hotel room so we'll have both our phones ready for an alarm. Don't know about a wake up call because the phones at Disney tend to scary me when I'm sleeping and they go off (although the wake up call with Stitch and Mickey is cute...).

Good luck this weekend at Tinkerbell!

One month from RIGHT NOW... I'm about to be FLIPPING OUT from EXCITEMENT and NERVES and WOW!!!!!

Holy cow I can't wait!!

One month from right now, I hope to be passed out in my bed, because my alarm will be going off one month and 5 hours from now.

Whoo hoo! 1 month and 8 hours to go!

We've been just steadily increasing the long run 1 mi each week (with a few skipped because of travel, etc.). This weekend is 13! We'll at least do 14 and then I don't know about after that. I've noticed that as the long runs get longer, our weekday runs have naturally gotten longer as well (increasing from 3 to 4 to 5 mi).

What are these waivers that you all are waiting for?

I would like to be passed out in bed too, but I know I'll be WAY TOO EXCITED to sleep :lmao:

The waivers are something we sign that basically say yes, we know the risks of completing a half marathon and we won't hold Disney liable in the event of injury, blah blah blah.

Why we want them is twofold:

1) They give us our bib numbers on them, which leads to all sorts of hubbub and buzz on what our corrals may be

and

2) It makes the race that much more real and exciting! It's one of the last hurdles to clear, so to speak, before actually picking up your bib!

Was going to run tonight but stayed home and did p90x plyometrics with DH. It's been awhile and I'm surprised I got through it! I can't believe I forgot how hard that workout is!

I love the idea of getting close but not actually hitting 13 miles. I think that's awesome!!

With that being said, I'm planning on 11 miles this weekend. I haven't ran at all this week yet...so I hope to get in a run tomorrow, Friday and then long run on Sunday.

this week my long is 6 miles and next week is 10 with (I think 8 then next and then 5). The 8 and 5 are part of taper weeks.

Anyone know where I can find a lavender sports bra?

I am going 12.5 miles this weekend and want to try to keep the same schedule as I will have for the princess – not actually waking up at 2 am but the same eating and drinking schedule. I have been a little confused but does this look about right:

3:00 am- be downstairs for bus (I want to be early to try to be near the front of my corral and I figure I won’t sleep much anyway, but what time does the bus actually start. Is this too early?)
5:45am –race begins
6:20-6:30- my corral begins (if I am in the last or second to last corral)

Getting so nervous and excited!!
:dance3:

Did you ask your doc if you can put your arm in a sling so it doesn't move so you can get some training in that way? What if you just walk? I would try and cross-train and do leg exercises so you can keep your strength up.

Feel better ladies!!

 Oh my goodness, that's a lot on you! I would say to see how you feel. Before my other half I only got up to 10 miles, and I did totally fine with the last 3.1. I think it would be great to get to 12, but it's more important for you to go into the race healed and strong. Then make sure you have a good taper for the week beforehand!

Thanks ladies! I go back to the Doc today and will see if walking and cross training are ok. If not, its good to know that if I can only get up to 10 miles in I should be ok for the race. Kathleen, I hope you're continuing to feel better!

That looks about right. You might not need to be down to the buses until closer to 3:15- I can't swear they were running at 3. But you know what- maybe they were. I think we were walking out our door by 3:15 and had a line of people waiting on buses (went quickly) We were at ASSp last year.

I'm probably going to try to be on the first buses away from the resorts, after a bunch of people had bus trouble during Marathon weekend. At some resorts, it sounds like there were no problems. At other resorts, some of the elite runners and a few of the first corral runners didn't make it to the start and waited a very, very long time before even seeing a bus. I was lucky and could use the monorail for the Half Marathon, but not for the Princess!

Not that we need something else to worry about... :lmao:

I think we got on the bus at Caribbean beach at 3:30 last year. We had no problem getting to our corrals, my sister was in A and my daughter and I were in B.
