so here is what I have done. I booked a 9 night trip with free dining for sept 5 at cbr.

We just had our offer excepted for purchasing DVC points at SSR.

Do we cancel trip and loose 100$ and use points?

do you get a discount on dining plan or diningin gerneral as dvc owner?

how hard would it be to get into a dvc resort set 5 if i am not booking till end of june to begining of july?

I just bought my MNSSHP tickets yesterday could have saved a couple dollars in hind sight.

There is no discount for DVC on the DDP, the 3 Dining Plans (Counter Service, Stadard amd Deluxe) are full price. There are some discounts available to DVC, mostly 10% for lunch, some 20% and occasionally 30%. They vary and change seasonally.

As far as booking into DVC for September, I would be sure to book at a DVC resort before cancelling your free dining cash stay. Even though it is a relatively easy time to book, DVC resorts have pretty high occupancy year round. DVC works best if you can book early, though there can be limited "last minute" availability.

If you were happy to be staying at CBR with free dining before you bought DVC, I think I'd keep that unless your new contract has a bunch of points you have to either use or lose.

For nine nights, the basic DDP is going to cost you roughly $360 per adult (which means 10 or older) and $108 per child at DVC. Depending on the size and ages of your party, that could add up to quite a bit of expense. You'll have to do the math yourself for your group.

If you decide to change, be sure to follow Chuck's advice. You don't want to cancel CBR and then find out you can't get DVC.

I am disapointed there is no discount. I see why so many dvc owners get annoyed with fd. That would be almost 1000 just for the fd and if I can remember the etire stay was 1700ish. plus the 200 deposit I will loose I might as well keep my free dining,

What were people talking about some table wonderland card? Do you get discounted dining with AP or do you have to buy that dining card to recieve discount?

I am having second thoughts on my DVC purchase.....maybey just cold feet.

DVC isn't a discount program, it's a real estate purchase. If you purchased a home, you wouldn't get discounts on food. Timeshares generally don't come with any kind of significant discounts, and DVC is no exception. You'll see some token discounts at a few restaurants, golfing, and the occasional park ticket discount (awhile back it was park hoppers, at the moment it's APs). But you won't be getting free dining, or the 4/3 program, or any of the other 'deals' that the WDTC offers, because you're no longer reserving rooms through WDTC.

If you made your purchase thinking you'd be getting a bundle of discounts, you may want to rescind.

But before you do that, do some math. If you calculate what you're actually spending on your room per night with DVC, with the dining plan, and compare to a comparable room with free dining, you'll see that DVC is the FAR better deal.

For example...I just stayed in a savannah view studio at AKV. My per-night cost, figuring in the purchase price and maintenance fees, was about $95 per night. Since I paid off my original purchase cost many years ago, and all I'm paying now are maintenance fees, based just on MFs my cost per night for the room was $75 a night. I could have added the dining plan and still been paying half of what the general public pays to get 'free' dining on a savannah view room.

The Tables in Wonderland or TIW as it is commonly referred to in these forums is a dining discount for table service restaurants that you can receive when you purchase an AP and pay a fee for the TIW card. With DVC you will get the opportunity to purchase an AP at a $100 discount for the basic AP, or $115 or $125 discount off the premium AP (can't remember which right now). The TIW card is $75 extra, but the discounts on those TS meals add up quickly that you'll recoupt that $75 in a short time.

Getting cold feet is a pretty normal thing for any major purchase for many, many people. But getting your questions answered now before you dot every last i and cross every last t is very important. You don't want to end up being miserable or mad about your purchase later.

Just curious, why will you lose your $200 deposit. Don't you have 45 days to cancel? I just cancelled 2 rooms at Pop (5/19) on the free dining for August 16th and just got my $400 back into my account this morning ($200 per room). THere is only a penalty if you cancel within the 45 days of arriving. I would not cancel anything until you get your points in you account and see what you might be able to reserve at this late date. I would suggest you keep your original plans and bank your points for next year. I banked all of my DVC points the first year I bought them as I already had plans in place at the CM 50% discount on all of my rooms. I had a nice balance the next year and still to this day end the year with excess points to bank each year.

I think I just had cold feet. I have been looking into this for a while now and have done the math.

TIW is what I was thinking. I guess i thought the discounts I read that go along with season pass actuall were attached to dvc.

To get the $100 off ap as dvc owner is it automatic or do you need a coupon? Can I purchase that in September? We are planning on going set with FD and then March so I am thing season pass is the way to go.

When you purchase your AP, present you DVC Membership Card for the discount. You can purchase the AP and the TIW (if you wish) at any guest services location at the entrance to a theme park or at Downtown Disney. If, on the off chance you do not receive your membeship card before your trip (cards are sometimes delayed, as they are made by a contracted company) you can get a temporary membership card at the sales office at SSR.
