Hey ladies,

I apologize in advance for being off topic.

I currently live in Canada, near Toronto area . . . my mom lives in Nashville, TN so I have lived there as well. I have always wanted to live in Florida--more than anything but I'm terrified to actually move there. My DF and I have discussed it and he likes the idea--I have dual citizenship so that isn't an issue, and he can get his through me. Also, I currently work fulltime for Comcast, so I could easily transfer. However, I also am in University fulltime for Health Science. If I move, I would have no clue what school to transfer to. Anyway--I guess those can be worked through, but what it actually comes stright down to is that I'm scared to move away from all of my friends and family. How did you guys deal with moving away?
I've seen how many of you have relocated and I was wondering what your reasoning was? How you finally decided? and what steps do you take to actually relocated (finding a place etc.)? Do you regret it?

I appreciate anyones feedback! Thanks so much.
Maggie

Well I live in Florida... I know comcast is big in Tallahassee where Florida State is, and know comcast isn't as big in Tampa... I would see where they can put you and go from there with choosing a school. All the state university's are good in my opinion. With regards to moving... well I can empathize I suppose. I am scared crudless of moving to Germany next May. My fiance is in the military and where we live is at their mercy, not my own personal preference. So I know what you mean... I try to look at it as an adventure... and know that I can always fly home to see family and friends... Ultimately you'll be with DF and that's your new family... Just how I've tried to process it in my head. I think its different for everyone... Good luck though!!!

I had a very hard decision to make when I moved away from my family after 30+ years out of NY and into Florida. (Orlando)

It was my career field that made the final decision for me. I am a box office manager and I was at my previous job in NY for about 7 years. I was at the point where if I wanted to move up and into other better paying jobs, I needed to find somewhere that I could go to where tourism and commerce were better. I absolutely hated the snow and cold in NY. I've always loved Florida and always loved the heat. I was sick of winters and longed for warmth. My entire family lives in NY and we are very close knit, it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life hands down. I still do have regrets to this day. I miss my family, especially my mom something fierce. But I know that I am in a better place right now career-wise.

I try to make as many trips as I can back home, but it's difficult. I don't regret moving here all together, and I'm actually considering buying a home here in Orlando for the first time. So I am committing to staying here for the next few years at least.

I don't know if that helps! :)

I'm from Florida but I actually lived in Nashville for 3 years as well as in the Carolinas. I love it here in Florida even more so after moving away and coming back! The heat and humidity would be my least favorite aspect of living here but no state income tax is the best part! I live in North Florida (about 2 hours from the mouse) and it's very reasonable to live here! Nashville is way cheaper though! I travel for a living and I think one of the great perks of Florida is it is fairly economical to travel anywhere by air from here! Your mom can fly Southwest dirt cheap from Nashville to Orlando!

One other thing is that when you live in Orlando everyone you know will want to come visit!

Thanks guys--your comments make me feel a lot better.

I HATE the snow and cold up here--it's horrible. I just need to get on the ball and do it! Especially having an annual pass--thats a great reason to move: Disney every weekend :P jk.lol
I really appreciate your comments and response.
