Oh my! That picture is a RIOT! I am totally :rotfl2: and :lmao: and :rotfl:

So, is there another update for us, Jen? Pretty please! popcorn::

Sara

Hi Jen! Just got back from a little non-Disney vacation and am all caught up here. I'm glad you finally made it to Orlando in your report. You handled yourself very well on the flight with the LOUDS. Way to go setting an example for your son though I'm sure you felt like losing it many times.

Love the trailer picture - too funny!

Even without magical white fluffy hands, we found our way to the Magical Express counter. The line was just a few deep, I approached with lil’l diz at my side to be greeted by an UN-Magically Expressed “greeter” who barked that only ONE person per family should stand in line. Feeling a titch more feistiness I replied that, “We were traveling alone and my only option would be to enlist her as my babysitter as I cued the check in, unless I brought my ds with me!”

She declined the opportunity and sent both of us through.

Check in was painless and perfectly uneventful. We were out of there in minutes. We walked our famous walk to the RED (almost non existent) carpet and entered the POP bus loading line. What I can say about that line is thank goodness, I have NEVER had to stand in it when it filled with people. I can only imagine the headache that would be!

We were the only ones in our line for about 10 minutes, then a several families joined behind us. I think they added us to a bus, because as we were standing they kept checking the lines, asking how many were in our parties. We were the smallest line and they took us to a bus, which was already filled with passengers. I didn’t care were we sat, as long as we sat somewhere going in the direction of the home of the mouse.

We did our part to sit as close to the front of the bus as possible. There is strategy in this. Great strategy! The bus ride was as good as a bus rides gets. We watched the infamous welcome to Disney video and got all hyped up and excited.

We played how much longer until we are there and did our best to spot the area “theme parks”, which are not Disney. That Nick Hotel is just so darn inviting to kids. What is it? The colors?

Score! We were last on the bus and first to be dropped off. We were the first off of the bus, first to get our carryon bag from underneath the beast and first in line at the registration. Usually my DH is with, so I have him collect the luggage with one of the kids and I take the other in the hotel and jump in line for registration. This time we were alone, so it was important that I move quickly. The registration line can really fill up fast, as the ME busses unload. I wanted to get through there and get through the registration process quick.

I had not reserved a preferred room for this visit, but did request the 70’s building, top floor. I really like to minimize the sounds of the Turbo flushing toilets. The sounds are always more noticeable to me on the lower levels. Also, I can’t stand the sounds of thump, thump, thump as a parade of elephant’s runs across the floor above me. No matter what level of hotel we are at, we always seem to get the room that is below the home of the elephants. You really would think that parents would be more respectful of the people that are below them and not allow their kids to run through the room.

But they are not!

What happened to having kids run outside???

This is the same for the hallways of the hotel. The last time we visited the Boardwalk, we were greeted daily and nightly with the noises of an elephant herd. For all I know it was the LOUD Family on vacation back then too. Hmmmm….

Back to the subject at hand… We were checking in, first in line, hoping the CM was about to grant us all of our wishes and upgrade us to MK view at the Poly… from the mear $54 per night that I got at the POP.

Well at least a girl can wish.

We got the slowest CM at check in. She spoke very unclear English and had a lot of trouble with the computer system. My idea of being the first in line seemed to bite me in the bottom, because the people who came to the counter after me were done much, much faster. I had asked the CM to verify that I got my requests and told her (politely) that I would be willing to wait longer for a room if need be. It took the CM forever to figure out how to add my ds’s b-day onto the main reservation. I know that the POP does a daily b-day balloon run and wanted to ensure it was scheduled for my ds’s b-day day, since I didn’t specify the exact day on the reservation. While lil’l diz sat on the floor, by my feet, a nice CM came over and gave my ds a ballon for his b-day, a cherished birthday button which would allow everyone and their mother to know why he was visiting the motherland and a bunch of stickers. Score again! My wait in line must have worked, because slow poke CM granted me my preferences in a room; top floor, 70’s section and close to an elevator… but the room wasn’t ready yet, which was okay with us.

We headed over to the restrooms to change out of our fall in MN clothes, and into cooler digs. I had stowed some cooler clothes in my carry on, as we had just made a 40 degree sweep in climate (not including humidity) and I knew it was going to be hot in FL and it was! Hot that is.

We then dropped our items off at the luggage Bell Service check in and I verified that they had our POP fridge swap fridge waiting for us. The CM guaranteed that as soon as our room was ready they would place the items in the room and we didn’t have to be there! SCORE!! Last time we did Bell services at the BWV’s I had to go and sit in the room until our luggage came. It really was the last thing I wanted to do, right when I got there! I wanted to get a move on it and jump start the vacation! This time things would be different. This time we were luggage free and ready to start the fun!

Next we headed directly out to the POP bus lines and waited. And waited, and waited and waited. I got hot while I stood there in the blaring sun (why doesn’t the POP shelter the bus lines better?), I finally decided to go sit on a bench and wait, since there wasn’t anyone in line to head to Downtown Disney with us, therefore we weren’t in need of standing there to guarantee a spot on the bus.

I had promised lil’l diz that we would hit DTD ASAP to get a light saber at the make your own light saber spot. Finally another family came to join the wait, but they were smarter and just immediately sat in the shade to wait. We all waited and waited and waited some more. We chatted at bit about the crowd levels and they were excited for us, that it was our first day. My ds gave his, “I’m here alone with my mom for my b-day and I didn’t even know that I was coming schpeal (this was repeated often on this trip). At some point I decided to call to see if by chance our room was ready… and IT WAS! I told lil’l diz the good news and we decided to head up and check out our room and see if by chance our luggage was delivered as the Bell Service had guaranteed.

The bus never did come.

An update! I needed one! (We have a sick puking almost 5 year old at my house-)

Glad you got the room floor and building you wanted. I remember those loud toliets from our POP stay too!

Hannah told the surprise speal this trip too... so funny!

Glad you got the building and floor your wanted:thumbsup2

I love how your son tells everyone about how he got surprised...He is too cute :goodvibes

I just found your TR and you're a great writer. I really feel like I'm right there with you and your DS. What a sweet boy who loves his momma. Glad to see you got your room request cause I just pictured those LOUDS being right above you otherwise.

Looking forward to reading about the rest and when the BRAT arrives. TRs like this always make me glad that so far we haven't travelled to WDW with anyone else.

You had me crying in your post about stopping at your mother's. Total proof that parenthood comes from the heart and not from biology.

And, great job in pulling off your surprise. I love reading about successful ones cause we're trying to pull one off in October. We've known about our trip since May and we decided to surprise our boys - 8 and 12. We're going to celebrate my 50th birthday which was in July, and, more importantly, DH being 1 year cancer-free from kidney cancer.

Great update Jen. Lil Diz is so cute. I can't believe the DTD bus never came:confused:

Another great update Jen! :goodvibes That's great that you got your room request, and lil diz got his birthday button and balloon! Did you ever get to DTD and make that lightsaber? Don't leave us hanging too long, pretty please! :rolleyes1

Sara

What?!? Is that allowed? :confused3 Where did you go? What did you do and see?

I know! It pained us greatly to go on a non-Disney vacation but we managed to have fun. We went to New Jersey to visit family and spend a couple of days at the shore. We live in Florida but have to visit NJ to spend time at the beach. :confused3 It was a great end to our summer - Sam started back to school today!

Loved the update! I can sense the excitement in the start of your special trip with your boy. So glad you got what you wanted in your room request at POP. Can't wait for the rest! :goodvibes

You definitely have a gift for writing these, Jen - I feel like I'm right there with you (and wish I had been)! You're going to have to fill me in on where to make one of those lightsabers - I have a little friend here (DS 6.9) who would LOVE to get his hands on one of those!!

;)

You may have got the slow CM but wooohoooo you got your request :thumbsup2

Now no more updates for 2 weeks OK :rotfl:

(We have a sick puking almost 5 year old at my house-)
OH NO! How is she doing today? Poor baby! AND poor MOMMY! How are YOU doing?
I love how your son tells everyone about how he got surprised...He is too cute :goodvibes
He was really so proud to be there! I didn't know if it was because her was in WDW or because he was in WDW without Daddy and sissy!?!

You had me crying in your post about stopping at your mother's. Total proof that parenthood comes from the heart and not from biology.
It really does! Well said! Thank you for taking the time to pipe in. I love it when people post. I am excited for you for your big trip! You have some bog time celebrating to so. Hats off to your DH! WOW!
Great update Jen. Lil Diz is so cute. I can't believe the DTD bus never came:confused:
Never, ever came! We waited for a long time too.
Yeah - so happy there was an update. I hope you finally made it to DTD..
We did eventually get there!
Another great update Jen! :goodvibes That's great that you got your room request, and lil diz got his birthday button and balloon!
You know, I would love to stay in the Deluxes all of the time, but truthfully the amount of time we are in our room or our resort is minimal. POP has been a very nice and easy resort. The buses are relatively good ... (all resorts seems to have issues at times). AND I have always got my room requests at the POP.

We went to New Jersey to visit family and spend a couple of days at the shore. We live in Florida but have to visit NJ to spend time at the beach. :confused3 It was a great end to our summer - Sam started back to school today!
Ohh Goodness you guys start school early! Did she have a good day and does she like her teacher? I hope you visit the beach in FL to!
You definitely have a gift for writing these, Jen - I feel like I'm right there with you (and wish I had been)! You're going to have to fill me in on where to make one of those lightsabers - I have a little friend here (DS 6.9) who would LOVE to get his hands on one of those!!
Thanks M! I love that C is 6.9 :thumbsup2 I have never thought of it that way! You can find the build your own Light Saber in the Once Upon a Toy Store in DTD. We got the double sided, so that you can unscrew half of it and have a one sided, plus you get an extra sword part, which can be a different color. We can show C my ds's sometime when he is over.
Now no more updates for 2 weeks OK :rotfl:
I might loose all of my readers if I did that! You'll just have some catching up to do... on your 1000 subbed threads! That'll keep you busy for a few weeks. Safe travels Jo!

if they don't see someone standing there they dont' send a bus ... at least that's what I learend from my experience... :(
I thought that too at first, but we watched those busses coming in and never did they have the right ticker name on them. :confused3
Your Lil Diz is just too cute! :goodvibes It is so sweet how he is telling everybody about his super special surprise birthday trip.
He was super duper excited Lessa! He told EVERYONE!
we waited a long time for the DTD bus when we stayed at pop too! although our bus did eventually come. now that i know it's not just a fluke thing, i will be taking the car to DTD when we go in september!
For some reason I think the busses come much faster for DTD at night. :confused3
Great beginning.
Thanks!:)
