Does anyone have recommendations for great off site restaurants? We have a couple of afternoons free and thought we would look at restaurants beyond what Disney offers.

We are two adults, no kids. It doesn't matter if it is casual or dressy. We are adventurous eaters who enjoy good quality food.

Are you looking for lunch? Or a place for dinner?

Lots of suggestions if you search restaurants in the Orlando hotels and attractions thread

Dinner - anytime after 4 pm.
We've got a few favorites (we are local) plus we often try out new places. Our absolute best is Bull & Bear at the Waldorf Astoria. Be aware that this is very expensive but the food and service there is outstanding. We also enjoy La Luce at the Signa Bonnet Creek frequently. More reasonable price. Be aware that if you drive to these two restaurants valet parking is validated.

For Tex-mex food, we prefer Chuy's. There are a couple around, one of them is relatively close to AKL.

I'd head in the direction of the Dr. Phillips neighborhood. That area caters to the convention crowd on expense accounts. Some of it is the usual "convention dreck" (think: Ruth's Chris) but there are others with good reputations. Caveat: I have not done this yet.

Great! I knew it must be here somewhere but didn't know where to look. Appreciate it.

Thank you! Any good Cuban or Southern restaurants? Bonus points for things we can't find in southern California. :hippie:

Also, have you been to Jaleo at DS?
Creative small plates from Chef Jose Andres, and stunning paellas.

I see Columbia has already been mentioned. I'll add a couple of other restaurants in the Celebration area: Celebration Town Tavern for New England seafood and Reggianos for Italian.

That is a gorgeous restaurant! May have to uber there the next time we're in town.
It is beautiful (you feel like you’re really in Cuba-it reminds me of Disney theming in the Wotld Showcase restaurants) and the foods really good too. It’s about 5-6 miles from Disney world. They have a rum bar too but we didn’t try anything. I think it becomes kind of a night club late at night so go earlier if you want to avoid that,

If you’ve never tried Portuguese food, I heard of this restaurant in Orlando called Lisbon Portuguese Cuisine. The owner grew up near my hometown and we’re planning on bringing my parents when we’re there next month. My dad is from the same island in Portugal as the owner.
