Hello we are a family of 5 DH, DW (me) 2 DD ( 4 and 6mnths) and 81 FIL who is a full time manuel chair user. We are lookinf for an off site place to stay. Was thinking about the HIFS in a w/c room does anyone have any imput or other sugeestions. Price is a factor for us as well. FIL has an above the knee amputatiion and doesn't like to wear a pros. leg he also has very limited range of motion in his right arm so EVC are no good to him. Any and all helpful suggestions are greatlly needed.

The Radisson Resort Parkway advertises on their web site that they have ADA rooms (forgive me if the initals are incorrect - I'm not really educated in this area, but I think that is what they were). Anyway, they mention what the rooms are equiped with, etc... - it is only 1.4 mile from disney's gate and the 2003 issue of the Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World gave the Radisson 4 1/2 stars out of 5 (right up there with the deluxe resorts). Supposed to have a great pool area too. All this and if you book though the link I'll post below rates (depending on your dates- start at 69.00 per night. Kids under 10 eat free with paying adults too.). Just click on a Radisson Resort Parkway banner at the link below and it will take you to a special booking engine to get the lower rates ( you are still booking directly with Radisson - NOT through a reservation network or anything like that.) Hope this helps.

I just went to look at the Radissons site for you - their site has been updated and apparently they are not listing the information about the handicapped accesible rooms like they did before, but I KNOW they have them - you could call and ask for specifics. And their rates, by the way, if you book at that link start at $66.00 - not $69.00.

Good luck

I called HIFS and they have wheelchair rooms so I went ahead and booked it. The rate was to go to pass up (59$/ senior saver rate) Hopefully there will be no regrets when we get down there.

You didin't say if you will have a car, but one of the things people have sometimes had problems with in staying off-site are the shuttle buses to the parks. People have posted that they are not convenient as far as the times they come and also that most are not wheelchair accessible. So, if you don't have a vehicle, you might want to look into one.

Opps yes we will be driving our own van down. Thanks for the heads up anyway . Nancy

Then you won't have a problem. If he has a handicapped parking permit, bring it along. If you park in the handicapped parking without one, there is a possibility of getting a ticket. We've been told the police do patrol those lots and will ticket.
