Off Site Hotels

I'm looking to book a first time visit to Universal. We just can't afford on property. Does anyone have any suggestions on decent, lower cost places to stay that are nearby but off property? We're hoping for someplace that offers free shuttle service or is within walking distance.

Have you checked out Cabana Bay? Their rates are similar to offsite hotels, but you get the convenience of a dedicated bus service to Universal and early entry to the parks...

I have and it's out of the price range I wanted for a short 3 night stay.

Time of year means everything, but I often can find 4/4.5 out of 5 rated hotel suites offsite that offer free breakfast/parking/wifi/shuttle for under $100.

When are you going?

Hyatt Place is across the street and very nice, no shuttle.
Doubletree is ok. They do have a shuttle service but I have found it unreliable, so we walked.
Homewood Suites Orlando near USO is just on the other side of I4 with scheduled service, not sure if it is free.
Drury Inn would be your best bet and has great reviews. They do have a free shuttle and it is not even a mile from USO
