HI!

We're thinking about a last-minute trip (I'm waiting for the weather report...last year was miserable!) to Orlando and maybe try Universal or sea world or just chill by the pool. We're looking for a nice, not too expensive (if I wanted to blow the budget, Id just stay at AKL... :) ) hotel with a great pool.

Any suggestions? We're thinking drive down, check in SUnday and check out Friday and drive back by Saturday night.

Thanks!

I stayed at the Wyndham Resorts (Orlando) which is very close to Universal and Sea World. Has 2 (actually 3 but the third one wasn't operational when I went in Jan.) very large pools, an ice cream parlour, and a bunch of amenities. It's very nice, but I was allergic to the feather pillows.

I booked thru Expedia during a sale. Maybe you should check out what Expedia has. Good Luck! :thumbsup2

There are so many to choose from.
What I suggest you do is look in a website like www.hotelkingdom.com and do a search for your dates. See all the hotels that come up and when you see some you fancy do a search in www.tripadvisor.com and read the comments from previous users.

Try the Caribe Royale. About a 10 minute drive to the gates(or less). Great pool with a water slide. The rooms are suites with 2 doubles/queens in the bedroom and a queen pullout in the living area. Microwave, coffe maker and mini fridge. Rates on Expedia about a week ago were 167 Cdn/night. We stayed there a couple of years ago and were very happy with the accommadations. They also have two bedroom suites with full kitchen. Good luck.

Check the Orlando Hotels board here on the DIS. Someone posted about the Courtyard by Marriott having a deal. $59 per room, upgrade to a suite for $20 extra. We got a suite during March break for $79 with breakfast for 2 included.

Thanks for all the responses! Alas, after talking to Susie my Small World Vacations TA (whom I LOVE!), the AKL is 199 per night even if I buy an Annual pass. I've now been told to check out priceline and I've been reading and reading and reading about that! There is SO MUCH INFORMATION out there about all of this. I'm a bit overwhelmed. :rolleyes2

Thanks for all the suggestions and keep 'em coming. :wave2:

Thinking of HOliday Inn INternational - any comments on this one?

Thanks!

I do not think you can get a better deal than on skyauction, although availability might be an issue.

In October we got a 2 bedroom Condo, kitchen, jacuzzi in master for week for $235.

We ended up with the RAdisson Worldgate at 57 bucks a night. Fingers crossed for a clean room, a good pool and lots of sun!

Thanks for all your ideas. :) :goodvibes

WOW, great price considering the time of year you will be going.

Have a wonderful vacation.
