Off site and FP+ kiosks

Sorry this got a little long winded.

There are many threads about FP+, but I have a specific question. I know that it may be too soon to really know that this years trip will probably be trial & error.

We are going during spring break, the week leading up to Easter. We are staying at Shades of Green, so we will not be able to get FP+ ahead of time. We will have to use the kiosks.

We do EMH if we can and then switch parks, but always are there for opening except for the parks we switch to later. We make the most of our mornings so we can relax later. I am concerned that precious time waiting at a kiosk to get FP+s is going to make the rest of our morning much more crowded as we will be behind our normal schedule. This will make our days stressful and that is something we are trying not to get back into to.

Even if we go to a kiosk further into the park, what if it takes 20-30 extra minutes from the 2 hours we have before it gets crowded? Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing time at a kiosk that others will be using to get to a ride before the crowds? We do not stand in lines longer than 20 minutes or so, so if, due to having to wait at a kiosk for FP+s, we have to skip rides we will. However, if we have to skip more than 1 or 2 that we really want to do (have never had to skip more than one before), we may have to reconsider our Disney vacations and spend more time at Universal.

I don't think the time at a FP+ kiosk will amount to any more time than was previously spent going all around the park to get FP's at each attraction.

My best advice is to know ahead of time what 3 attractions you want. And a back up incase one isn't available. Also know what time you are planning on staying at the park until or any dining reservations or show times to work around.

Thank you, I hope you are correct. I will probably just go get the fp+s while the boys go ride something else. It may mean I miss one, but most of the time it will be something I don't care to ride anyway. I think AK will work since I don't ride EE. DHS, don't ride RNR, although not sure how that will work w/ TSM since we probably want to go straight there in case we can't get a FP. We could chance going to TSM and hope that when we are done there will still be FP for RNR, I guess. EP may be more of a challenge since I like to ride both Soarin & TT. Depending on where the kiosk is and how long it takes, I may or may not be able to make it to them in line? Otherwise hoping that the lines for TT won't be too long right away. At MK we may just go straight to a ride or 2 before going to kiosk since there is no way to get FP for everything we want to do there. I suspect we will have to limit our MK rides this time to just a few most important. Hope they don't tier anything else. It's bad enough now.

I agree that it won't, but the total time is not the problem. We didn't have a problem with the time it took to collect all of the FPs in total, but this will be all of that time right at our crucial 1st thing at rope drop, which we usually spend trying to get as many must do rides in before the crowds come in. Before we could go directly to a ride or 2 and ride and then get a FP or grab one before if no wait to get it. Then we would have to wait to get another anyway, so we would get the line gathering rides out of the way before crowds. Make sense? Hopefully we will still be able to do it the same way for the most part, as long as the kiosk line isn't too long. I think either way we will have longer lines then we used to wait in, but we will just decide what is worth it and what is not when we see how long the wait is.

I am also curious. Anybody know what times the kiosks open? If I have an early ADR will I be able to select my FP's before park opening?

Unlikely that the CMs would be in position more than 15 mins prior to opening.

I am also curious and worried about this. We are heading the Magic Kingdom on 2/18. The parks open at 8 am and stay open until 1 am. I am debating whether I should send my DH straight to the kiosks to order our fast passes, or if I should use the first 2-3 hours to get as much done as possible and then have him go to the kiosk.

Yep. I see that as one of the biggest drawbacks.

In the MK at least (until the Mine Train opens) I would go do some rides for the first hour then go get the FPs. Once the Mine Train opens, the run for the FP kiosks could be as ugly as the TSMM run used to be. Certainly at least on par with the old run to see Rapunzel and Flynn.
