My boyfriend and I will be in WDW in early Dec., staying at CBR. Now, it appears, we will also be traveling down in mid-May '05. That trip we are planning on staying with friends, but would like to book a night or two at a hotel for some privacy. Any suggestions for decent off-property accomodations with easy access to the parks? (I'm not sure of our exact itinerary because our friends are taking care of that aspect.)

there is not easy access to the parks at any off-site resort.

if you have to have easy access to the parks stay at a value resort on site.

now if you just want a place to crash and still be able to get to the parks - Laquinta lakeside - is fine. they have buses that go to all the theme parks - get a schedule when you check in.

closer to WDW is a holiday Inn - this is US 192 West Kissimmee for both of these. I am pretty sure it also has buses to WDW.

Will you have a car? If so, I'll have to respectfully disagree with the above statement. If you have a car, there are plenty of hotels along 192 in Kissimmee or 535 in LBV from which you can be in the parks just as quickly as from some of the onsite hotels. If you won't have a car, then Pat is correct and you would do best to stay onsite at AllStar or Pop Century.

We just returned from a stay at the Radisson Resort Parkway - just off 192. It was beautiful - very tropical - and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They have free bus service to the Ticket and Transportation Center several times a day ( and do a couple pick-ups directly from Epcot in the late afternoon). Rooms (deluxe pool view) were nice and pools were great!

Start checking into bidding on Priceline and a site called biddingfortravel.com. Most of the time, if you bid for resort level WDW Vicinity, most $60-$70 bids are for the DTD Hilton and DTD Wyndham hotels. If you win either one of those two resorts, you can use there busses or walk across the street to DTD and catch Disney's buses. Either way both are a great deal for DTD and I have won both of these hotels for my stay last November. Please note, that when you bid on priceline, you bid on a level of hotel (so make sure that you would accpet any of the hotels on that level) because in the end your not sure which hotel is going to accept until they do (and you can't get your money back, its final); however, as stated most of the lower bids in the resort turn up at Hilton and Wyndham (really can't beat their locations or buses) - now most people wouldn't complain if they got one of the other resort hotels listed but bus service isn't as frequent from them. Lastly, you may want to join Wyndhams internet site as they occasionally send out specials for rooms everynow and again for under $100 per night and several people last year got weekend specials for about $80 when offered. This is even better as your not taking any chances on Priceline.
