So I decided to do the food shopping for my mom at Shop-Rite this morning to be a nice son. So after having the hardest time keeping everything in the cart since it was overflowing, I got everything rung up, paid, and bagged it all.

I take a step outside and the sky opens up and torrential rain ensues. I'm talking "God pissed off" kind of rain.

As soon as I get home with the groceries, it stops. So the few minutes it took me to load the car, it poured!

And I had no umbrella.

We just got that TORRENTIAL downpour! But unlike you I had just finished my errands and was in the house for 5 minutes before the heavens opened up

FUNNY. I was at McCaffrey's in West Windsor, and as I walked out, ... just like you ... POURED. I hustled to the car, got myself loaded up, reached for my keys and realized that I'd left my wallet at the register. I illegally parked myelf in the fire zone with my hazards on in order to avert the need to get even wetter than I was, running across the parking lot. Ugh.
It does always happen like that.

We had just the opposite here. My DD is performing in "Peter Pan" at a summer outdoor theater. This weekend is their closing weekend. Yesterday, it poured most of the afternoon. Just about 45 minutes before the show, it stopped - allowing them to dry stuff off in the park and set up audio equipment, sets and get the orchestra ready. It stayed dry for the whole show.........and then just as the show ended, it began to pour as we headed for the parking lot afterward. Remarkable that the only 3 hours of dry weather for the day were exactly when they needed to get the show in. I was so glad because they had worked so hard. Now, tonight is a different story. It's been raining on and off all day and is expected to get worse tonght. We've got our fingers crossed but I'm not sure that they'll get in their closing night.

I went into the grocery store just a little while ago and came out to THE worse thunderstorm I have seen in a while.

Luckily my supermarket has a parking garage and so does my building. Sorry you got wet!

Rain? What's that??? We haven't seen ANY of the wet stuff in a LONG time. Would someone send some to rain on my yard, please?

I was there the other day after stopping at Coldstone at the Mercer Mall. Small world!

ElizK - It was a nonstop thunderstorm here last night for about 6 hours. I was driving to Princeton and it was the worst T-storm I've seen and then it rained and thundered and lightning'd (definitely made that word up!) for the rest of the night. Sky's are darkening again. I wish I could send this rain down to you!

Now...a parking garage outside a supermarket...that's a pretty good idea!

In Austin we have clouds today!! Yipee. I get sick of the whole solid blue sky thing. Plus it is only 99 out so far today. A nice break from the heat.

It's a bit cloudy here, too, and only 97 degrees. That's down from the 101-106 that it has been for the last 11 days. I haven't actually stepped foot outside to experience this cold front for myself. I'm going to stay in the airconditioned comfort of my home and take their word for it. :cool1:

What I find particularly bizarre here is that there can be sunny skies on your block and a few blocks away it is a torrential downpour. Today, when I was leaving to drive my son to his ice hockey game, the sun was out, but there was darkness off in the distance. Less than a mile away I found myself almost unable to drive because my wipers wouldn't go fast enough to clear the window of rain for longer than a millisecond.

Wet or not, you did a good deed and you are a good son.

Okay so yesterday I decide to vacuum the house so my mom wouldn't have to (and I'm a neat freak). We have one of those stand up wind tunnel-ish vacuums. Well the hose can disconnect from the base and be used to do staircases, corners, etc. But if that comes loose, and you are using the regular part of the vacuum, the dust and stuff it picks up will just fly back out into the air.

So I do the TV room and everything is fine and dandy and proceed to do the stairs going up to the 2nd floor. Everything fine still and t hen I reconnect the house to the base so I can do the area rugs in the living room. Still going strong. Then I unhook the house again to do the stairs going up to the hallway on the 3rd floor. So I do that and then I reconnect (ugh I know!) again to do the hallway and I guess I didn't fully push it in.

I had my iPod on dancing away while vacuuming not noticing that the hose wasn't hooked into the base.

So I start to cough and notice dust in the air. But I just think it's from vacuuming and it's normal. Well then I notice that the carpet has a thin layer of dust and particles which I thought was strange. I turn around and notice the hall rug covered in this layer of dust and what have you! :confused3 Then I notice the hose is unhooked and anything that the vacuum "picked up" was now all over the rug.

:rolleyes1 I must really have bad luck, or maybe I should just stop doing good deeds! :lmao: (tell that to my mom or dad)

Ummm, I live in Central Jersey too. You try again with my carpets!! :rolleyes1
