Odds On Getting Standard View At Boardwalk?

I am trying to decide which is the best DVC resort to purchase into for my family. We plan on vacationing primarily in the off-season (Sept., but not always). I like BWV, but OKW and SSR seem like better values point-wise.
My question is:
What are the odds (0-100%) of getting a Standard View room (one bedroom, let's say) at the Boardwalk in the off-season at the seven month window if BWV is NOT our home resort; and what are the odds of getting the same room at the eleven month window if BWV is our home resort.
Thanks

Based on my experience I have tried 4 times for a standard studio at BWV at 7 months. Twice for early December twice for September. Did not get either December reservation even with the wait list. In September, I got 1 with wait list and 1 on initial call. If you want to stay regularly in the Standard View room in the Boardwalk, buy your points there. At times I wish I had. It's not that I don't like OKW, my home resort, because I do, it just that STD view is so hard to get certain times of year.

Your odds at the 11 month window are 100% (for a SV in September). You probably wouldn't even have to call day by day.

Your odds at the 7 month window are less than 50% and for the best chance you will have to call day by day for the reservation and be prepared to use the waitlist if any of the days are not available when you first call.

If you want to mostly stay at the BWV, buy BWV points. Otherwise, you should plan to pay preferred view points and if you decide to go in the busier months (everything except September, January & May - excluding the holidays in those months), you may not even get in there at all.

Due to the ever increasing numbers of DVC members, the competiton to get a reservation at the 7 month window at VWL, BCV & BWV is rapidly increasing. Plan to call day by day to even have a chance if you want to go during a busier time.

Best wishes -

Carol sums up my thoughts, especially if you want a standard view room. Otherwise, don't count on it.

I bought at BWV specifically for this reason. I have booked at 11 months and have gotten a STD 1BR during February vacation week (very busy) 3 years in a row. I think the STD view at BWV is a great deal and would try and buy there if possible.

If you want to stay Fri and Sat night only, your chances are pretty good!!

I called yesterday and they had 1 bdr SV's available for our weekend nights (already have weeknights booked elsewhere) less than a month away!!

I know weekends book last, but I was surprised!

I think a lot of owners who choose BWV as home do so with the intention of being able to use those Standard View rooms. At certain times of the year, it can be difficult to get those rooms NINE months out, much less once the window opens for other DVC members. But sometimes you'll get lucky.

The other thing to keep in mind is off-season is not always off-season for DVC and can change over time. We bought intending to vacation in early October - and we do. For the first trip, it was what we anticipated - low season, not a problem booking....then they extended Food and Wine - so now October is much more popular at the Boardwalk. Disney creating an occation to stay in a certain place (as Food and Wine is to the Epcot area resorts) can really change the desireability of the resort.

When we bought, we debated between BWV and OKW, but ultimately bought BWV for the standard views. Generally speaking, getting a room at OKW anytime of the year is much easier than getting a standard view at BWV even during the slowest times. So, we decided to buy BWV. We've only booked SV at 11 months out, so I can't provide feedback about 7 month out experiences; however, we have booked OKW at 7 months out and have never had a problem or even had to waitlist.

Best Wishes

The first week of December I called for 2 standard view studios at BWV for the first week of June. I got one, and the other they had 4 of the 5 days I wanted (so I just went with a preferred view for that one).

I have gotten the standard view there for Friday and Saturday without much problem, but this is my first try for during the week. I guess I was lucky.

We own at BCVs (but like saving points by staying at BWVs).

I just bought BWV and when it comes to standard views , I thought when I plan a trip I will always assume on booking preferred view and IF , IF they had standard and I wanted standard for this trip it would be a bonus. I just booked a trip for january 07 and I know its a slow time but when MS asked if I wanted std/pref/bdwlk views for a 1 bedroom I was happily surprised to have the choice.

We tried to get a one bedroom standard view at BWV for the end of Jan. about 4 months out. There was nothing available so we got on the waitlist, which did not come through. The happy ending was that we had a wonderful stay at SSR and got BWV standard view at 7 months out for June 18-23.
