If you want a Tower room call and pay for the category you want. At the desk they will tell you cost you will need to pay for an upgrade. It won’t be free
Especially during spring break time
I’ve never tired but I’m pretty sure if you ask it’s definitely not going to happen. I’ve been upgraded with better views at different resorts but it was random and always when I checked in online. I always love a good story where someone randomly gets upgraded to a one bedroom or club level but I don’t think there is any strategy to it. Definitely price it out and see if it’s something you can swing. Those rooms look very nice.
There’s really no telling when a CM will decide to give an upgrade, but it is usually because of some special celebration, to address a guest inconvenience, or when a guest is particularly kind to a CM. You don’t get upgrades by asking for them (unless you plan to pay).
Almost 99.999% chance of not getting that upgrade. If you want to be in the tower you should book a standard room in the tower as others have indicated above.
Everyone is celebrating some special occasion- so saying it’s an anniversary, birthday, etc will likely get a congratulations rather than pixie dust (this goes for restaurants too). Even when on reservations they ask if you are celebrating- they just out a note on reservation. It’s not because they plan something special.
Advice always is book the room you want- if you want to upgrade at checkin ask. Especially in Covid times it probably even harder with reduced respect capacity.
I Doubt it!! That resort is HUGE, I'm sure there will be plenty of standard rooms available. You could ask nicely for a room with a nice view when checking in. That might get you a little better location, but probably not in the tower.
Generally speaking, complimentary upgrades only happen out of the resort's operational needs and not because they want to spread pixie dust. However, if you're willing to pay for an upgrade and there is availability, that is something they can quote you and switch you to at check in.
Disney has changed their policy in this area, I think. Cast members have less discretion. And, with cleaning protocols it probably won't happen. For us the tower is worth the extra expense. You could get a water view instead of the parking lot view in the casitas but since they are not selling out and have lots of rooms, probably not.
I booked a standard room, cheapest possible rate with Disney visa. Checked in online. Just arrived and got our notification our room is ready. 15th floor, club level.
