Odds of getting a room next week?

I'm thinking of getting a studio for one or two nights next week. Think I've got any kind of chance? There is still availability listed on the website.

You never know until you call. If you only want one or 2 nights, are flexible with respect to the date(s) and the DVC resort, I think your chances are pretty good.

Keep in mind though, rooms available for cash on the website doesn't necessarily mean that there are still rooms available for points. Those are two very separate inventories.

Good luck - and let us know what MS says when you call.

Best wishes -

We got a studio at OKW at the last minute during Christmas week so its worth a shot.

How do you check availability through the website then?
We can't check availability online for points reservations - at least not yet. We do expect that that feature will become available to us sometime in the future, though. AFAIK, no date has been announced yet, though.

Best wishes -

If you check on the WDW website, you are looking at CRO cash only rooms, not DVC points or member discount rooms.

Odds of getting a room next week?

1) Slim
2) None
3) Very Slim
4) No Way
5) Absolutely Not

Take your pick.

Nope! Or at least so far nope. I think if I had checked when I posted I probably could have done it. Since I'm really going to Tampa and just wanted to get a night or two to check out the Christmas decorations I plan to keep my fingers crossed through Tuesday after Christmas or possibly even Wednesday.

And yes I was looking at the CRO rooms when I was checking availability and yes I know those are cash rooms but I was hoping they'd release the excess back for point rentals. I failed to factor in my fellow procrastinators who are not DVC owners. At Original Post time there was still availability for cash at the Value resorts...a good sign but by yesterday even the deeluxes were showing up with no availability. Yes I have a longstanding membership in Procrastinators International and no I don't ever make reservations before the 7 month mark. I should also add that I am still working on MAKING my Christmas gifts :earseek: Fortunately those that just HAD to be mailed got mailed a couple of nights ago...so they'll show up most likely on Christmas Post or if I'm very very lucky, Christmas Eve.

PS. There is an excellent probability that I'll make reservations for "Adventure season" in January. If I can't use 'em I figure I can rent the reservation since it'll be VWL. Christmas-time in Disney is something I've done just once by accident back in the late 80's.

Keep trying if you really want to go. After Christmas last year we decided to go up from Naples; called - nothing available. Called later in the week and got a BW view studio for a night. Y'a just never know ... :earboy2:

That's what I'm hoping for!

And that's one thing I wish they'd put up on the website. Availability for any given day based upon the reservations made at close of business. Run a batch at 2:00AM to get the static numbers and then let members access it from the website. You put in the dates you want to travel, the type of accomodation you want (studio, one bed, two bed, GV) and the geographical location (lake buena vista, hilton head, vero beach) and it gives you back if there is availability for that type of accomodation over the dates you requested. It could be done in calendar form so you could see where you could make reservations involving two resorts if a single reservation opportunity is missing. Even better the calendar could be color coded to let you know if there is a) no availability -- an X thru the date or a blank b) more than 25% -- green, c) 10 to 25% -- yellow, d) less than 10% red.

With any luck this would reduce the amount of calls MS gets because members would be more likely to call just once instead once to query availability then once or more after that to snag a reservation. For others this would let them avoid croweded weeks.

While I'm dreaming they could expand this to the all the resorts so that people who might prefer slow times could go on the spur of the moment plus make it easier for people who are trying to make reservations. You could do it on the "pick your resort" page for the regular Disney site.

Outcome!!!

Had I been willing to go on Tuesday I could have gotten a DVC room. But because I wanted to go Wednesday the only thing available was a room at POFQ (which was just gorgeous, btw...they should just pop microwaves and toasters in some of those rooms and call them studios). This turned out to not be such a bad deal because a standard room there (with a beautiful view of the EPCOT fireworks) was 21 points versus 15 to 19 points for a DVC studio.

PS...getting through to member services in the first 30 minutes on Tuesday was quite difficult.
