We've recently bought a 2nd home in SC and now I need to furnish it. I'm not worried about the furniture itself but the kitchen/bedroom supplies etc. that will be needed.

Does anyone know any good online shopping sites for some of this stuff?

thanks,

Kim

For the hard goods, do you want new or used?

If used is acceptable for the hard goods (dishes, pans, silverware, etc.) first check out your local salvation army or consignment store (we have one that specializes in household goods). I've seen complete sets of china for $10- $30 for good names like Pfaltzgraff and Lenox. And complete sets of glasses for 50 cents per glass. Our local salvation army store had a brand new popcorn popper for $4. And since this stuff doesn't really go bad how can you go wrong? (though do avoid antique china because of the lead content.)

For bedding, towels, etc., if you want really nice stuff at a reasonable price, try Marshall's, TJ Maxx or Homegoods.

I am not sure about on-line places, but I love shopping in the marketplace at Ikea! Problem is I always spend about double of what I was planning on! I got flatware for the wetbar in my basement, wine/beer glasses, kitchen gadgets, toddler plates and forks, cutting boards, throw rugs, DD's winter blanket, etc...

Don't laugh everyone but...when our oldest moved out on his own, we went to the Dollar Tree for kitchen essentials. We got heavy duty set of plates, glasses, silverware, coffee cups, dish towels, dish clothes, bowls, storage bowls and tops, pitcher, pasta strainer, serving spoons, baking dishes, etc.

We outfitted his entire kitchen at the Dollar Tree...and you can't beat the price.:thumbsup2
