Oddest place you ever spent Christmas

Geelong, Australia

Only 'cause we lived there at the time! :rotfl:

Sitting in a Ruby Tuesday waiting area for almost 2 hours...then they announced they were running out of food. So we drove around for another 1/2 hour looking for anyplace else open and then settled on a pizza place (luckily, run by Muslims) that was open.

In 2007, my extended family spent Christmas on San Cristobal, an island in the Galapagos. It was warm and amazing, and we had a huge colony of sea lions living right near our little house. Everyone had one present to open, and it was an amazing Christmas!

I know this one...Bien Hoa, So. Vietnam...1969. Joy to the World. Our favorite Christmas Carol went something like this.

Jingle Bells...rocket shells,
VC in the Grass.

Take your merry Christmas and
shove it 'blank' 'blank' 'blank'.

Not exactly in the spirit of the season, but certainly the spirit of the location.

Another one who spent C'mas in hospital giving birth on C'mas eve to our sweet pride and joy :cloud9:. I had been decorating our tree all day, the activity must have been a bit much, as caused him to arrive 3 wks early @4lbs. 15oz., thankfully perfectly healthy. Best gift we ever got :lovestruc!! This year he turns 40yo, thankfully is stateside, and praise God will be home to celebrate with all the family.

Next ~ a Navy ship :thumbsup2!! Our BIL was a commander at the time and one C'mas arranged for our extened family to have C'mas dinner in a private dining room on ship. Food and service were great and it was quite the menorable feast!!! :goodvibes

In Navy boot camp in Orlando. Obviously no family. :sad2:

A few years later ... on board a Navy ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean. We made the best of it. :santa:

.

The hospital while a family member was being admitted. Horrible time. You know those horrible time when you cry so hard you can't breath? A local group was sponsoring a free meal in the cafeteria. It was actually one of the best meals we have ever had. I can't explain how grateful we were that so many volunteers gave up their Christmas so we could have one.

last year i was at castaway cay on christmas day.

That's my dream...someday maybe.

Mine was at a 7-Eleven buying hot dogs, taquitos, and Slurpees. :thumbsup2
For that particular year, all of our family plans were either for Christmas Eve or the weekend after Christmas. We had planned to have Christmas dinner at a friend's house, but she had a family emergency and had to fly out of town on Christmas Eve. So our Christmas dinner was from the 7-Eleven. YUM!!! :lmao::lmao::rotfl::lmao::lmao:

One mile south of Cannes, France. My ship, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) was anchored off of Cannes for a visit. My duty section had the duty on Christmas, 1994.

Children's National Medical Center, 2010

(7 weeks running, right now :sad2: )

In a jail, where I worked for 5 years :) I worked weekends and Christmas fell on a weekend a few times so I didn't have a choice :( Luckily they paid triple time so it wasn't so bad!

In a hospital bed...giving birth! ;)

My daughter, who will be 10 in 5 days, was born on Christmas Day!!

My water broke at 7:46am. I showered, ate some cereal and had Christmas morning with my son who was 12 months, 18 days old (and who, frankly, didn't know the difference).

Got to the hospital about 10:30am and my daughter was born at 3:29pm.

I can honestly say the attention we got due to lack of activity in l&d was great. Incredibly wonderful experience! After they took her to the nursery for the bath and things, they returned her to us in a stocking. :)

Awwwww can you post a pic? That is so cute!

Tent camping at Ft Wilderness. Woke up to find a stocking filled with candy on our van door. At dinner Mickey fed my awestruck 15 mo old daughter. Mickey was the only one who could get her to eat.

When I was 9 I spent Christmas on a troop ship in Bremerhaven, Germany. We had Christmas on the ship and the next day boarded a train to our final destination, a base in Goeppingen, Germany. As we passed the White Cliffs of Dover, Santa helicoptered in on Christmas Eve to visit us on the ship. Most memorable Christmas as a child.

Me too!! I spent Christmas day in the hospital giving birth to my almost 9 year old DS. I woke up at 3:00 am and by 5:00 am, I knew I had to go in. I didn't even wake my 12 months, 13 days old DS up. Grandma came over and stayed with him. Youngest DS was born around 9:00 am.

I cried in the hospital because I couldn't see oldest DS on Christmas. Not that he even knew the difference.

The nurses had made little red and white blankets for all the Christmas babies. I think there were 3 that day.

I spent CHristmas Day 2003 in the hospital with my mom. She had surgery for an aortic tear 2 weeks earlier and had many complications. I told the rest of my family to go have dinner at my sister's...I truly wanted that time with my mom and I'm glad I did it. She passed away that July.

In the hospital cafeteria. My dad had to have emergency open heart surgery on Christmas Eve. To this day, I thank God for all those people that worked on Christmas. It has been going on 10 years and my dad is still with us and better than ever!

At home with the chicken pox. This was pre-kids, woke up Xmas morning not feeling well and was laying on couch, wife comes in the room and says "Why do you have spots all over". In hindsight guess we should have gone to emergency room instead we track down a 24 hr doctor that is actually open, as I recall we were the only ones there but still spent 90 mins there. Doc says you ever have the chicken pox, well you do now. Think I just slept the rest of the day
