Oddest place you ever spent Christmas

Florida. I had never spent Christmas away from family or friends. I spent this one Christmas with my husband and his parents at the parents' house and it is very strange to have Christmas start to finish not at my own house. Especially when Christmas is seen as "different" as they are not into presents that much.

I've never heard of someone not being into presents that much. My husband and I smuggled in presents for each other that were truly a FRACTION of what we normally do due to logistics reasons and his parents really thought we went all out that year.

Peds ICU. I was working the night shift and despite the high acuity we managed to have some festivity. Parents brought in food and snacks for the nurses. The staff wore Santa hats and we tried our best to make Christmas okay for our little patients. During the night, we hung a small stocking with a little age-appropriate book toy on their siderails. Santa can find you anywhere. Even in the PICU.

Tokyo Disneyland

Our first married Christmas. We were in Tokyo for about 5 days anyway, Christmas just happened to be the most convenient day for us to go to Disney.

When I was little I spent Christmas in the hospital. My parents had a hard time convincing me that Santa would actually know I was in the hospital and bring me some presents there.

They told me he got lost and left them at the house so they brought them to me

In a hospital bed...giving birth!

My daughter, who will be 10 in 5 days, was born on Christmas Day!!

My water broke at 7:46am. I showered, ate some cereal and had Christmas morning with my son who was 12 months, 18 days old (and who, frankly, didn't know the difference).

Got to the hospital about 10:30am and my daughter was born at 3:29pm.

I can honestly say the attention we got due to lack of activity in l&d was great. Incredibly wonderful experience! After they took her to the nursery for the bath and things, they returned her to us in a stocking.

Oh, WOW! I totally FORGOT that I spent Christmas 2009 in the ER prepping for emergency gall bladder surgery. Yes, LAST YEAR!!!

I've never been anywhere stranger than Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. I've only been away from home for Christmas twice in my life, both by choice.

My husband spent a Christmas many, many, many years ago, sitting in a hole in the ground, protecting some rather large, expensive and dangerous toys. He spent another Christmas on a ship in the middle of the Med. Not his fave Christmases.

My first year out of high school I was in Toyama, Japan as a Rotary Exchange student. I lived with Buddhist/Shinto host families. My parents sent a box of presents and called on "my" Christmas morning so that I could unwrap them on the phone.

Funny though, I don't remember it as sad or lonely - just different!
