Odd things you've overheard in the parks

We got on the Friendship at the Boardwalk to go to Epcot and a woman asked the captain which stop Universal Studios was!!! When he explained it was not part of Disney she disagreed with him and said she was told that you could take the boat there because all the waterways were interconnected!!
I can't believe people go on vacation and don't research things before they go!

I can't stand when people think Disney and Universal are all the same thing-it has annoyed me since I was a kid! I have also heard people ask where the bus to Universal is. :confused3

I love some of these. I have a cute little kid overheard story.

Last March when we were in WDW we at at 'Ohana. After dinner we had gone to use the bathroom and just after us a mother with a little girl maybe about 3 or 4 came and took up one of the stalls of the relatively empty bathroom. The little girl had had an accident and they were cleaning her up, etc., and the little girl was talking to mum at a normal volume. Throughout her rather normal conversation (with mum telling her all the while that they needed to clean her up and then they'd go back to the room and change, etc., etc., normal mess management) the girl stops short and this comes out of her mouth:

"Mom? Have I always been wearing leggings?"

The mother then had to explain that yes, she had been cold that morning, remember? It was the most adorable little non sequitor I've ever heard and the two of us managed to get out of our stalls around the same time and walk out to meet up with Jem's mum before we busted out laughing at just how weird and adorable it was. It became our catchphrase the rest of the night.

A disney bus driver was talking to a couple from New Zealand and telling them she always wanted to go there. They told her the best time to visit is February and she asked "My February or your February? ". The look on their faces as they decided how to respond was priceless. .. They came up with " Ummm both?"

I believe Lynx route 303 will take you from Walt Disney World to right outside Universal Studios Florida.

As we were walking under the train station into teh Magic Kingdom a mom announced..."You need to calm down and stop being excited or we're going back to the room"!

Are you kidding? We are entering the Magic Kingdom. This IS the time to be excited.

On a trip in August a mom told her kid "Don't drink too much water!"

I don't think there is enough water in Florida for August in the park.

Odd things you've overheard in the parks

The oddest thing I've overheard is the number of Disney transportation cast members who say you are arriving at the "Ticket and Transportation Center".

It is the TRANSPORTATION AND TICKET CENTER. Always has been! Know where you work!

(sorry... pet peeve of mine)

I was referencing people asking if Disney busses were going to Universal. Example: Sitting at the bus stop at Caribbean Beach, waiting for a Magic Kingdom bus, and someone asks: "When is the bus to Universal coming?"

:confused3:lmao:

While riding the bus to Blizzard Beach one morning, I overheard a mom tell her son (probably 12-ish?) as Summit Plummet came into view that that slide is the only "launching slide in the world" and it launches you into a deep pool of water. I was laughing so hard with my friend that I couldn't even correct her without coming across as a jerk. So I let it be....I always wondered how disappointed (or relieved!) that kid was when he realized that wasn't the case! :lmao:

that may have been my wife -- as we sacred our kids with that joke a few years back :)

I know what you were referencing.
I was just saying that would be my response... take the Lynx bus.

Whilst en route to the Magic Kingdom from our off site hotel, the driver decided to hold a little quiz and asked what the name of the castles at Disneyland and Disneyworld were, I told him Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Apparently I was wrong... Whilst Disneyworld's IS Cinderella, Disneyland's is Snow White's, Disneyland Paris' is also Cinderella and Tokyo Disney's is Sleeping Beauty.

...I didn't participate in the quiz anymore after that.

That's been a common mistake ever since Disney discovered someone was going to build a theme park designed around a major movie studio in town and decided to throw one together themselves. That's one reason I wish they would retheme Hollywood Studios entirely.

Never, ever presume transportation drivers know more than you do. The chattier they are, the more what comes out of their mouths is so much bantha fodder.

Not odd, but amusing...

Overheard in Epcot: "Please, Dad, can we go to Norway next? They have a neat ride called the Hail Storm."

Two non-park stories. While waiting in the DME line at MCO, I notice a family with a huge amount of checked luggage in the line next to mine. They were trying to figure out how they were going to get a yellow DME tag on each bag.......seems they had 6 people but 8 bags. They started a heated 'discussion' about why certain people had brought too much stuff. So, I leaned over and said, nicely, 'You don't need to put those tags on the bags. They're really supposed to be put on before you leave home, so you don't have to go to baggage claim, and then Disney will move them for you. No reason for them now.' Well.....I got this response..'Do you work for Disney?' 'No.' 'Didn't think so. I think well just follow the instructions DISNEY gave us.' And turned away, and continued the argument. Oh well.
Or, the friend (15 yrs older then me) who informed me that only those people staying at the GF were allowed to sit up front in the monorail (back when that was still possible) , and also that people staying at the GF had a direct line to Epcot. I told her that she must have transferred at the TTC. 'Nope, GF people have a special direct monorail line. I know...we took it several times.' Okay.

Many years ago my daughter and I were at CA and a kid said, "I want to ride the Terror of Tower again!".

It stuck! To this day it's the "Terror of Tower" in our family. We'll be walking, in a bus, etc and say we want to ride the Terror of Tower and everyone looks at us like we're...well, like we're the people we're talking about on this thread :)

Overheard by everyone waiting around us in line at the Jungle Cruise:

DD(6): You're a liar.
Me: Whaaat??????
DD: You're a liar. For your work. You're a liar.
Me: *sigh* That's lawyer, honey.
Everyone: BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Not overheard, but probably gave a chuckle to those around us.

DS at 2 1/2 as the train comes into the station at the opening show at MK, shouts at the top of his voice "It's Thomas!"

(as in Thomas the Tank Engine)

Unfortunately, I have no Disney related contributions to this thread. But I did once listen for some time to an American family visiting Westminster Cathedral who spent several minutes looking at the map and talking among themselves about where they could find 'Juliet's' grave. I didn't say anything, but I really wanted to go up to them and explain that Juliet died and was buried in fair Verona, Italy...and, you know, was a fictional character.

One time when I was on EE, at the end of the ride when we were about to get off there was a little girl in the back row that looked about 7-8 years old. She screamed, "I FU**** HATE THIS RIDE!!!" Here parents were laughing at her and didn't seem to care at the fact she said a very foul word! The kids and their parents these days...........

That's a pet peeve of mine too!
