Odd Situation At MGM Today

DD and I just got home from MGM. When we were leaving the parking lot, we had to wait in a huge line of cars. When we finally got to the exit, an Orange County Sheriff's car was parked across the exit. They were searching each car leaving the park. They made each car open their trunk and they looked inside each car. It really creeped me out. I've asked a neighbor who works at Disney about it. He is going to call to find out what was going on. Really strange!

I can't imagine Disney would be too happy about that. I've heard alot of cops being around Disney lately. It's sad - You would hope it wasn't necessary.

Weird! It sounds like they must have been tipped off about something, I'd love to know what it turns out to be!

The cops have been around Disney alot lately because Disney asked them too. Disney requested many more officers to patrol the property. They also requested the Orange County Sheriff's department to crack down on speeders on property.

It's good that Disney want their guests to be safe, even if it does cause a bit of a disturbance or unease among them. It's just a shame that some people have to make things difficult. You shouldn't have to worry about crime at Disney World - that's for Disneyland Paris! That place is full of evil thieves!

If they were searching cars *leaving* the park then there must have been a child missing and assumed abducted.

I hope they are found safe.

Saw a few Sheriff's parked on the side of the road at night looking for speeders on the Disney highway heading to the airport that connects to 417 toll.

That was my first thought, as well. I go to the parks all the time. I have never before had my car searched. They were looking inside every car and making people open their trunks. I've been watching the local news, but haven't heard anything. Let's just hope it was all a big mistake and that eveyone is where they should be right now!

While that seems like a reasonable assumption, I hope its not the reason. I hate to think of a scared child taken at Disneyworld.

I hope so too. Since nothing has been on the local news, I would think everything is okay.

We were told that a child was snatched a few years ago when we were at the MK. They locked down the park and everyone was searched when leaving. They made parents wake up all sleeping children. The child was found - head shaved and drugged and dressed in different clothes as the person tried to leave the park. Thank goodness for Disney security!

I thought that story was an urban legend? About the head shaving and changed clothes. At least that's what snopes.com says. ??

During our Keys to the Kingdom tour, the CM said that there has never been a child kidnapping. All have been lost children.

I'm sure if they were actually looking in the cars and even searching the trunk, they were looking for someone of something specific, even if Disney requested extra security and police around, they can't do that unless they have a true reason to. Unfortunately, I hope to god it wasn't because of a child. Disney or not, there are psycho freaks everywhere. :wizard: :cheer2: :grouphug:

Last week saw a ME Bus pulled over by the police. :Pinkbounc

As TinkerbellMama said that story is just an urban legend.

Somewhere around the 7th or 8th of December, (I lose track of time at Disney!) we were heading into MK in the morning and saw a car flipped over and burned completely up on the side of the road inside the Disney property. There were police there and everything. It looked awful. I wanted so badly to hear that everyone had gotten out ok. We watched the news that night and saw nothing about it, which I thought was very odd. But I'm from a small town and that would definitely made the news here. Maybe not in Orlando.

If it had been a fatality accident, we would probably have heard about it in Orlando. Unfortunately, we hear about those all to often.

I have only lived here 1 year and the amount of car accidents astounds me.

The other night we were coming home around 1am and the police had the turning lane to my apartment complex blocked off so we turned around got on the other side of the road to take a right into the complex and came to a complete stop. A jeep had hit a dump truck and they had the road blocked. we were there for 10 min or so when I saw a helicopter overhead. I thougt it was news copter but aparently it was a medical copter to take the driver away. we sat there for 45min not 30ft from our apartment complex. First time I ever saw something like that and I hope I never do again.
