Hi, I booked for ten nights at the pop and recently stumbled upon a problem, my kids hate to sleep together B 10 and g 7. Does anyone know can you bring a small air mattress?
I don't know about the air matress but here is another idea... give them the option to split up and sleep with either parent. Sleeping with their brother or sister may not be so bad compared to sleeping with mom or dad.
LOL umm I kinda like sleeping with my hubbie! LOL I work weekends fri 4p-12a sat 8a-12am and sun 8am-12am 40 hrs in three days and hubby works M-F 6am- 8pm, LOL while there may be no canoodling on vacation some cuddling may be nice!
I don't think there is room at POP to put an air matress, not even a twin size. Wear them out at the parks, they won't care by bedtime if they have to bunk together
Check mousesaver.com for special rates at Port Orleans Riverside. If you use an annual pass discount you could get up to 45% off. This resort has some rooms available with a trundle bed for a fifth person and a much better recreation/pool area. Have them switch off who has the trundle. I paid $104 a night with an annual pass.
Or the WL and AK both have some rooms with bunk beds but will cost more.
If you are OK with an off-site, the Holiday Inn Family Suites in LBV has remodelled Nick kids suites with bunk beds that are awesome. http://www.nickhotel.com/see_hotel_tour.jsp
I agree it is a challenge with a boy and girl. That is one reason we stay at deluxes, for the queen size bed. And even then there is some sibling squabbles over covers and space.
This is our non-wdw year and we are going to Marco Island. We have reserved a room with 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa. The kids have already worked out who gets the bed vs. sofa on which nights of the trip.
But overall they understand we can't always have two separate beds/rooms due to cost so they are pretty resigned to it. BTW my kids are now 9 and 12.
I have the same problem and will on our next trip in August. My ds is 14 and my dd is 10 (will be 15 and 11 on our trip). It has been many years since they would sleep together in the same bed. On our last trip to WDW in March 2002 we stayed at the WL and had bunk beds in our room - they were great. Now my ds is 6ft tall (yes he is only 14) and I do not think he would be too comfortable in a bunk bed so on our upcoming trip to AKL I will sleep with my dd and my dh will sleep with our ds. As for sleeping with my dh while at WDW - by the time we get to bed we are way too tired for anything but sleep. Also, not having my dh snoring right in my ear would be a great relief if only for a week
If you can afford to upgrade you might try POR AB. I have DS15 and DD10, there is no way they would or could sleep together but at POR they have a trundle bed that was perfect for DD.
If not then yes I would bring a small air mattress. When we drive we have a Cot with the air mattress on top that works fine. There isn't a lot of room but we just stand the mattress up in the corner during the day and the cot folds up like those sling chairs. It is out of the way in the day and at night we don't move around alot so no problem there either.
They gave my daughter a king room by mistake this past week (if it could have gone wrong, it did LOL), and we said we would take it, if they gave us a roll away for our grand to stay with us. They did, and grand ended up back in her parents room, and took the roll away with her (two double beds and a rollaway). They folded it each day (simple), but it was fine, so you should do all right with an air mattress. We weren't in our rooms much.
If your kids don't mind a sleeping bag, you may want to consider doing that. Ask them if they'd like to take a sleeping bag and maybe switch every other night taking turns with the sleeping bag. I've done this before with my kids and they thought it was fun.
