I am having a weird sensation...... Let me start from the begining......

Yesterday DH and I went out to lunch.... everything was fine.... food tasted great...... afterwards I stopped to buy a Twix bar and it tasted funny...... and everything since then has tasted funny...... Menthos, the mint candy, tastes odd, toast, everything..... including my coveted morning Diet Pepsi......

I dont know if this is from the bad Twix..... (heck dont even know if the Twix was bad..... lol) or some odd pregnancy thing I had never heard off.......

What concerns me is it came on all of a sudden.... lunch was great....... 20 minutes later the candy was awlful (and everything since then)

I am debating about calling my OB....... Thought I would ask ya'll your thoughts.......

Thanks!

I have no clue to what it could be. It wouldn't hurt to call anyway. :)

I'd call the OB just in case, but maybe you're starting to get a cold. I know when I get a cold, everything tastes bad. And just last week DH had a horrible cold. The day before it started, he asked me what kind of salami I put in his lunchbox. I told him it was the same salami I always buy. He said he couldn't even eat it because it tasted funny. I tasted it and it was fine. I hope things taste better for you soon.

I had this at the start of my pregnancy, but this isn't the start for you, is it! Maybe your hormones are surging. Do you have to urge to randomly go up to strange men and hit them? Just kidding, ;) . This is strange as you said.

I have never had this happen before..... even with colds..... and it was so sudden......Lunch was fine....... and then 20 minutes later.... blamo........ it is kinda of freaky...... and I am bummed, since the one thing we preggos are allowed to do is eat <grin>

I think I will give the OB a call in case this is some obscure pregancy warning sign........ Gee can you tell I am a little parinoid? LOL

You aren't paranoid. You've got a question that needs answered. Don't worry about asking, just call. :)

I'd say it is one of the many wonders of pregnancy. :)

I craved dirt and gasoline on both of my pregnancies. No lie. I had the urge to pick up a handful of dirt and just gobble it down. Or at the gas station I had to restrain myself from just taking a big old whiff. I finally got up the nerve to tell my OB about it, and he told me it was a common thing in pregnant women - apparently I lacked iron or some other mineral. He ended up recommending a certain vitamin, but I never did completely lose my taste for dirt until after I had the babies. And both were very healthy.

I'd call the OB just to be on the safe side, but I do think its probably something along these lines.

I called...... The doc on call said she wasnt sure what was going on but that is wasn't a precursor to anything bad..... IE preclampisa or anything like that......

So I am stuck with this bad taste until it goes away..... :-(

I may call my dentist and go in for a cleaning... but I dont think that is the cause.....

Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes!

Probably just one of those really weird pregnancy things.

When I was pregnant I liked the smell of skunk! I actually enjoyed driving by one and I would try to get a big whiff. I still have no idea about that one but DH likes to give me a hard time about it.

Laura, you might want to edit your last post. I had to read it twice before I understood "was" was supposed to be "wasn't". :)

Yeah, it's one of those weird pregnancy things. MANY things tasted weird to me during pregnancy. Pretty much all I craved were starchy, sweet things and FRUIT. I normally LOVE salads but they gagged me when I was pregnant.

It's always good to get clean teeth but I don't think that is what is causing it, I think it's a hormonal thing too.

Definatly one of those weird pregnant things. All I wanted the entire 9 months of my pregnancy was lemons and french fries, everything else tasted nasty! It will be one of the things you laugh about although I know its not plesent now.

Laura, I hope it goes away soon.

Now, the rest of these posts have me cracking up!! Snoopy and her dirt and Becka and her skunks. I am just giggling at you all--sorry.:teeth: :teeth:

Everything tasted bad to me when I was pregnant. Like metal. Everything smelled strong to me too! But I was sick a lot for the first 20 weeks. I would say it is normal pregnancy hormones. The prenatal vitamins may contribute to it.

I know with each of my 4 kids I craved fish & chips. Now you have to understand, I can't stand the sight, smell or taste of fish, I can't even look at them but boy could I eat it when I was pregnant. Haven't had it since. My dsil is from England and loves her tea yet we always knew she was pregnant because she couldn't stand the smell or taste of tea.

Your tastes will change when you're pregnant. :) Perhaps it has been influenced by your pre-natal vitamins?
