Odd question about Le Cellier's filet mignon.

In October we went to LC for lunch and I ordered the Fliet Mingon, the menu said it came with a sweet/regular potato mix mash and some sort of demi glace. I was expecting cream cheese potatoes but thought they might have just made a menu change. Anyways, this steak is what I got, it didn't look like any other filet I've eaten but was tasty nonetheless. I've just now thought to ask about it, since all the other pics don't resemble it.

So...does anyone have any insight about what it is, or did anyone else get served something similiar?

How did you ask for it to be cooked? The reason I ask is that, when we went to Le Cellier, my DH requested his filet well done (the shame ;) ) and, in order to ensure it was cooked throughout, they butterflied the steak. When it arrived it didn't look like a regular filet - but it sure tasted like one.

To be honest, that picture looks like a filet to me (but I'm no expert :confused3 )

I'm not expert either but it looked like maybe it had been pounded (a lot) or something. Anyhoo, looking at other pictures it just didn't appear the same.

I ordered mine medium well I think. Shame on me, I know. :)

But yeah, it was pretty tasty none the less, just wondered if they were doing something new with the steaks.

If you ordered it medium well then they probably did pound it a bit in order to make sure it was cooked to your liking. Still looks pretty good to me - better than the muesli and fruit I'll be having for my lunch today :rotfl:

Whooopsie. I must have said something wrong.

Sorry, I'm not trying to create contraversy or something. :)

(At least in my neck of the boards that smilie means trouble!)

Didn't mean for it to mean you did something wrong....guess I didn't know eating popcorn meant that:scared1: I was just munching away popcorn:: .....waiting for someone to answer your question. Is it better for me to drink coffee :surfweb: while I'm surfing?:confused3

Oooh, but boy was it yummy! It's now a must-do for every trip. :goodvibes

Whew! I just know some DISers can get worked up about things, I was afraid I had missed some sort of big argument about steak changes at Le Cellier! :rotfl:

Hmm...good question. Popcorn can make your fingers buttery and make your keyboard all slimey! Oh well, I'll stick with the popcorn. :teeth:

I wondered what you had said wrong as well :lmao:

In my part of internet land, we use popcorn:: to signify that we're enjoying the fight between posters and can't wait to see what they have to say next!

I can't wait to go to Le Cellier for lunch on Monday! That's the only TS restaurant we go to while we're in the parks. :cloud9:

I am not (obviously) an experienced smilie user. Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like a filet to me, just thinner/flatter. ??? I get mine medium/medium well and it's always been, thicker/fatter. :confused3

I don't have a comment about the steak, but I was mortified when we went for lunch in October and they had taken the cream cheese mashed pots off the menu. :scared1:

I ordered my filet with fries, because I can't stand sweet potatoes, but told them they really needed to bring them back. I even asked if I could substitute cream cheese for sweet & was told no, they were only available at dinner. We're having lunch there next week, so I'll see if they're back on.

I was at LC in November/ December for lunch and had a steak similar. It came with a sweet potato mash and had a cherry demi glace. It was outstanding! Hope this helps. I remember it was not on the menu but the waitress and the table next to us suggested it.

Did they bring the cream cheese mashed back?? All ears is listing them and listing the menu as updated Dec 07? I was really looking forward to those.

That's exactly what I had! The cherry demi glace was surprisingly fantastic. I ordered it on the side because I thought it might be super sweet like syrup but nope, it wasn't.

And to comment on the sweet potato mash, I was hesitant at first as well but they were actually very very good.

Oh, but mine was on the menu. Maybe they just serve it for lunch.

I went in december and don't remember a cherry glaze filet. We went for dinner but I thought the steaks were the same for lunch and dinner. The menu for us had a mushroom filet and the bbq filet. My mom got the bbq filet and asked for it medium well. It looked like your steak. They cut it and grilled it to get it medium well. My mom didn't get sweet potatoes but I can't remember what her potatoes were. They were some kind of mashed regular potatoes through.

The steak with the Cherry glace was only on the lunch menu. We were lucky enough to have lunch and dinner when we were there end of Nov beginning of Dec.

Do they still have the cherry demi glace for lunch? Or have they since changed it?
