Odd question about a linked reservation

I have a reservation for 5/1-5/8 this year (Kidani, then BLT). My aunt, who is also a member, had points that she was unable to use and so she booked the night of 4/30 under my name and we linked the reservations.

Here's my dilemma:
She lives in FL, but the reason was unable to use up her points is because her brother is very ill and she will spending the majority of this upcoming month at his bedside (he is home now under hospice care). I just called MS to make a room request and could only do so for the nights booked under my membership, even though the first night's reservation is in my name as the guest and they are linked.

Given what my aunt has on her plate at the moment, I certainly am not going to bother her to call MS just for a room request. But I am wondering whether the request for the second night and after will even be considered when they are assigning the room, or will I just be taking my chances with the whole thing since there is no request on that initial night?

Yes this would always be the situation if 2 separate reservations are linked by 2 different members; each member controls their portion of the reservation until check-in at which time you would then 'take-over' the part of the reservation made for you by your aunt. If you're unable to have your aunt call for first night & make request you did for your portion I don't know how it will impact things; maybe MS can answer that. Or maybe if you can do online check-in for both you can note what you are hoping for with these 2 linked reservations. That's about the best I can think of short of your aunt making the call but hopefully others will be along to post more suggestions.

Best wishes & sorry to hear of your aunt having her brother so ill :flower3:

Thanks for the info. My aunt's brother actually passed away Wednesday evening, after I posted this, so obviously I am not even considering involving her in my Disney planning at this time. Not important in the grand scheme of things.

I am fine to take our chances, I was just wondering whether MS would 'see' the request on days 2-4 or if they assign rooms based on that first night only. Sort of wondering how it works is all. I mean they must see both reservations when they assign the room, so that they know duration, so I would think they'd see that request, but you never know.

Not sure if this will help but I had a similar situation happen with a friend of mine. The problem we had was we had rented a two bedroom the first few days under their points and the last few under mine. We made this point clear on the reservation form (notes) , and again on the phone when adding some names. Either way we were made to pack up and move to another section because of a special request made by another member. When we spoke to the girl at the desk, she was very kind she recommended in the furture remind the desk at the point of arrival of any such problems or requests. She stated they usually will be able to work something out. Two separate accounts, two separate reservations, that simple :happytv:

My understanding is that a linked reservation should be treated as a single reservation, it sounds like your situation did not involve a truly linked reservation.
