Odd items You'd suggest to pack

Something no one has mentioned that I always bring is a picture frame or something like that. It makes the stateroom feel more at home...and you also get to personalize your stateroom with your own touch. I usually bring a no glass disney cruise line picture frame with a picture of me on my first cruise and a lamenated picture of my favorite star: Sean Biggerstaff. (see below) The picture actually was useful because we had a server who looked exactly like him!

Where do you get the Downy Wrinkle Releaser. I've looked in several stores - WalMart, Echert, KMart, Cost Cutters ... can't find it. Does it really work? I hate to iron - especially on the cruise when I have much more important things to do ....like siting in the sun sipping a tropical drink.

Thanks,
Diane

NJCruiser...Diane....would that happen to be the Northvale Cost Cutters....if so they we are pretty close!!!

The only things that you shouldn't use it on is leather and wool type items (sweaters, etc.)

I have found Downey Wrinkle Releaser in Publix, Target, WalGreens and Wal-Mart. It's usually either near the Fabric Softener *or* (oddly enough) the Febreeze.

I think i found it at farmer jacks. Yes it really works, I read about it on these boards and was soooo glad i brought a bottle with us. It saved a lot of time from ironing and like the other posters said...it smells good so it freshens your clothes too.

Enjoy that tropical drink. :)

We always take a pair of binoculars on the cruise. Its fun to see other ships that are far out as well as coming into the ports. And especially nice if you get some dolphins near the ship.

This helped out alot on our last cruise...
Clothes Pins!!!
The divider curtain between the Parents Bed and the Kids' Beds does not stay shut without Clothes Pins. Or, if you just want to block out the sun using the Divider curtain, it does not stay shut without Clothes Pins.
Also good for hanging wet Bathing suits up, etc.
And... if you can find a mesh shower organizer to hang over the shower head. I'm still looking locally.

Don't forget the sinus/allergy medicine... My sinuses were so bad on the ship...I didn't even think to bring my medicine with me, because I hadn't needed it for awhile at home.... That's what I get for not thinking ahead!! Next time, I'll know..

Oh, and bring a small sewing kit... I ripped the seam in my skirt one night, and was unable to wear it again... yeah, it was that obvious, or at least to me.

One thing I haven't seen yet (or maybe missed) is those stain wipes--I find that the oxiclean wipes work best. These saved my rear when DD#1 spilled punch on her white shirt, DD#2 dribbled chocolate ice cream from scoops, and while trying to save DS from a dining mishap at Parrot Cay I got my own sauce from my ribs on his pants. The stains all came out with a stain wipe and a rinse in the sink. Shout also has these wipes. I found them at Target.
Another use I have for address labels is that I put one on the outside of each film canister in case they get lost. I also put them on the kids' disposable cameras (with cabin #) and on the outside of the camera bag and the camcorder bag.
I am obsessed with taking some of every medicine known to man "just in case"--kids and adult tylenol, motrin, sinus meds and (especially after reading some threads) imodium and pepto. Even if you don't need them, you can use them later at home. This, however, may be dismissed as paranoia if you like!

Hey 2disneycruzrs! Where are you located in St. Louis? My husband and I live in Hazelwood, at Lindbergh & 270.

When is your cruise? Our next one is the special 7-day New Year's cruise, right after the 10-day Crhistmas.

As for the Shout wipes, I have found that they leave a ring after they dry, and it's just about as noticeable as the stain itself! Does anyone know if the Oxiclean ones do better?

myfourkitties,
I am also in St Louis, but off 44 in Shrewsbury. We are taking our first DCL cruise on March 6, and are thinking about re-booking onboard for the 2005 New Years!
Nice to "meet" you!

Another tip..........
I bought those travel bags that you can get all the air out of your clothes so you have more room in your suitcase. All you do in put your clothes in these specially designed bags and roll them and all the air comes out creating your clothes to be flat. It also says that your clothes will not wrinkle.
I have placed some clothes in one bag for a test for a week just to see if they are right and I will post my findings.
It will be perfect for packing wet clothes on our way back too.
I found this at Bed Bath and beyond and wal-mart stores.:D

I do the same thing with the extra large two gallon bags from Ziplock. I can get a weeks worth of tank tops, for example, in one bag. I catergorize everything and everyone has their own bags. I take extra, because they do rip occasionally, and I bring my laundry home in them too.

It's a lot cheaper. There's more bags, but I think it's still cheaper.

I am VERY particular about my pillow. I have one of those buckwheat husk pillows that I used all the time. I made sure to safety pin a tag on it so the steward always knew it was my personal pillow.

Other things I was really glad to have with me:
BUG repellant. On some excursions you really need it!

Aloe Gel-Sooo soothing when you have had too much sun. I put it in our cooler so it was chilled.

Nail polish remover PADS, not a bottle. I am not going to pay huge spa prices just to change my polish. I take my own mini manicure kit and never worry about spilled remover!

Powdered keopectate! If anyone gets a case of the runs/sick I have just the stuff! I have never had to use it, but I think that is a Murphy's law thing. It takes SO little space.

I have young kids too, and the first cruise my son went on, then four, he had a horrible fever on the last day. I did'nt have a themometer or any medicine! My husband was a major pain and did'nt want to take him to the Dr. because it would cost too much.
(Before flaming-he was cured of this stupid mistake and has never made it again)

Ever since then, I ALWAYS travel with a themometer and fever-reducing meds.

Things I am taking this trip that I have'nt tried before...
My OWN drink cup with a handle and top. This way I can mix my own cocktails and save $ or have my mug of water everywhere I go onboard.

An immunity booster called "Airborne". It is an herbal supplement that you put in water. (Works like alka-seltzer) It is great for ANY kind of trip. It was invented by a teacher who was tired of getting sick in the class room.

My favorite tea in tea bags. I can not get it anywhere else...and I really love it in the AM or in ice tea.

leave the corkscrew at home, unless you are driving.

airport security will not allow corkscrews in carrryon

and do you really want them going thru the checked luggage??
