ocular migraines!

I got my first one right after my son was born, over 17 years ago. For many years they happened very far apart and came with the crippling headache. Now they come more frequently, and I usually get 3-4 in a few week period, then none again for several months. Rarely do I get anything more than a dull headache with them now. They usually last 20-40 minutes, and make it really hard to work when I can't see my screen. I also had one come one while I was driving once, that was a fun drive to work LOL.

The ironic thing is that with many (if not most) people there's no pain associated with ocular migraines. I've never felt any with mine, nor my wife who has had one so far (she thought she was having a stroke and went to the hospital). At most, I've felt some muscular "tension" at the top of my neck.

that is what I feel with mine also...in the neck but then it goes up into my head and I cant even talk clear or open my eyes! I can not tell you how many times I thought something burst in my head:(

I get them too. Flashing lights, tunnel vision, sometimes temporary blindness, numbess in my arms, legs, hands, and parts of my face and mouth. If I don't catch it in time and take Excedrine Migraine then the searing, head splitting pain sets in.

Even if I do catch it in time and it doesn't turn into a full blown migraine, my brain is scrambled for a day or two afterward. It is hard for me to find the right words to verbalize my thoughts. I can think the right thing to say but the words sometimes get mixed up when they come out of my mouth. If that makes any sense. :)

Cashews are a trigger for me. Found this out thanks to Dr. Oz and my own little experiment.

This sounds just like me! I hate not being able to say what I am thinking I have to really think about it before I try and say anything. It is so scary. I feel groggy afterwords.
