Heya,

We are in the middle of planning out our next trip (dec 2015 AoA trip went so well my wife has bumped us up a year. Woot!) but we are undecided on when exactly to go...

We want to make a bookend trip, start thursday and leave monday or tuesday so we don't miss as much work/school, and was originally thinking the weekend that leads into Thanksgiving week.. but looking at the crowd calenders that doesn't seem to be the best idea.

Early november is now the most likely, but we have never seen WDW at Halloween so we are also looking into early October... BUT then the weather is a concern...

Those of you who have gone in October, how has the weather been? Is it still unbearable heat or does it calm down a little by then? Our 2014 June trip was just jumping from one air condition point to another so we'd like to avoid that. =)

We went in the last part of October/first week of November last year and the weather in WDW was just about perfect. It was what we Yankees consider hot, low 80's most days. However, an unseasonable heat wave hit in the early part of November when we were there and it was up in the 90's which was just miserable to us.

A lot of it will depend on what you're used to though.

The one time we went in October (15th-22nd), the weather was perfect. The best we've ever had. It's my dream to go back again in October but now that my kids are older it just isn't in the cards for us.

Mid October - Mid November in my opinion is the best weather for Florida. As for crowds, expect MK to be very busy (until HS is completed), Epcot very busy from Friday thru Sunday (Food and wine).

We've gone 3 times during Jersey week which is literally either very end of Oct to beginning of November....Personally ( Like the PP's have stated ) I believe weather wise it's probably as close to perfect as you can get.... If you did decide to go mid Oct. or close to it, I think then it would be around mid 80's with a day or so flirting w/ higher 80's ABsolutely perfect..No RAIN either, and best of all Low Low crowd levels...
We've planned it where we got to witness Halloween stuff & they immediately afte got the Xmas decorations, & was always able to see Osbornes Spectacles of lights on opening day too. Also want to reiterate that the Friday thru Sunday night Epcot thing would be one to avoid, unless you have no worries of crazy crowds..

Either way good luck with your choice.:thumbsup2

I understand, last trip we took a full school week off and it made it too hard on the two teenagers. 3 days from school is more manageable.

Oh yeeeeaaaaah, Food and Wine.. gotta remember to plan around that, thanks for the reminder. :)

Great weather with 90s a possibility but avoid Columbus Day and the weekend before that day, much more crowded then.

We were there last week of October this past year, and being from the north, we found it hot. I believe it was low-mid 80s every day. This is in contrast to our last two trips prior to this one, which were the week before Thanksgiving and in the 50s and 60s the whole time.

Fall in the South is very unpredictable, especially Florida. We've been in early October and had almost perfect weather of low to mid 80s and almost needing a jacket late in the evening. Then we've had upper 80's to around 90 or so. Then there was the famous heat wave of '09 that the temperature was 96-97 every day. I guess what I'm trying to say is the weather varies a lot and you never know.

It can still be quite hot in October sometimes. I think "unpredictable" is probably the best way to describe it. A few years ago we went the very first week of November. I was so nervous because I'd been watching the weather and at the end of October they broke 100 degrees several days. So I prepared for really hot weather and by the time we arrived it ended up being quite cold at night and in the mornings (lows in the 40s).

I was there for 2 days this past October and it was pretty humid. Temps in the 80s so not terrible but very sticky feeling. It also rained lightly the entire day/evening we were in the park.

I totally agree! It really is just unpredictable. The majority of our visits then it has been in the 90's with high humidity. We are planning our first July trip and I am nervous. However we have only ever been in May and the Fall with mainly Sept and Oct. I keep reading July is the worst but I am wondering how much worse than September? It all just seems hot to me! I had one cool day in early November that I remember other than that for us it has always been varying from African hot to vacationing on the sun hot.

We've been there in October when it's been 90 degrees and we've been there in October when it was 50. Usually it's in the 80s but not plan on it and watch the weather as it gets closer so you are really prepared. We were counting on 80s the year it was cold and we had to go buy sweatshirts and jeans.

I've done four October trips over the last twelve years. Weather has varied widely, from nice and pleasant, to extremely hot and humid (mid-90s!), to a full-on hurricane! October can be unpredictable from year to year, and can even vary a lot on the same trip. On an 11 day trip, we went from mid-90s down to upper 50s and very windy at the end of the trip. I hadn't packed right for such a wide weather swing, so ended up really cold at the end.

It can really go either way, but I think October has some of the best weather. I've been multiple times in October and always had great weather. Sure it's warm but not the staggering humidity of even September. But it's Florida so it could be unseasonably warm or cold.

I love December and January weather the best at Disney, but I did do October 10-14 one year and while it was a little hot for my preference (mid to upper 80's), it would not prevent me from going again at that time. We love mnsshp too much!

I've been an October WDW vacationer for all my visits, 5 trips, with our most recent Sept 25 until Oct 3 2015. Weather was typical for Florida short rain storms nearly everyday except one that rained all morning when we went to Animal Kingdom. The temperatures stayed pretty much 92 - 88 everyday. Humidity was very high but all in all it was bearable if you took your time and didn't rush everywhere. We did 2 days in the water parks but also took our mid day break at the hotel pools. My wife had a much better time this trip from our last because we took it slower.

Halloween is a great time in Magic Kingdom and MNSSHP was a hit for our family. It was our first tiem doing the party and it has a completely different feel being there then normal nights in the park.
The other thing with October is you can enjoy the EPCOT Food and Wine festival. Just a warning there weekends were VERY growded for the event.

If you don't mind it being pretty warm and having a little rain early October can be quite fun.

I went the third week in October 2014 and one day was perfect, warm but not too hot. And one day was blistering 95 degrees and stupidly humid. I was miserable the second day but love the Halloween party so I will go back at some point. But I do prefer it be a little cooler.

We have never had a trip in October before. What is the weather like? Will we need light jackets at night? Is there usually rain like in the summer?

We have traveled in October a few times, and overall weather is usually great. Less rain, comfortably warm in during the day, and it can get a little cool at night. That said, it's Florida, so no guarantees. One year we were there and were hit with the remnants of a hurricane, it rained a lot. This past fall we were there the last week and had morning of rain and then one day was a complete wash out, the rest of the week was great. But overall I think mid to late October is pretty even with early spring for the best weather.
