October school breaks

When is your school October break? Normally here in Hawaii it is the first week in October. This year it is the second week. Trying to plan when we should go. Thanks!!

These are some of the ones I've heard about for 2016.

October 2016
Oct 3-7: Fall Break for Some Nevada (Washoe) School Districts
Oct 3-14: Fall Break for Some Arizona (Chandler) School Districts
Oct 10-14: Fall Break for Some Arizona (Mesa) School Districts
Oct 20-21: UEA Convention (Utah schools out of session)
Oct 24-28: Fall Break for Some Northern CA (San Mateo) School Districts
Oct 28: Nevada Day for Some Nevada (Washoe, Clark County) Schools Districts

Schools in our area (Northern CA) that are on a year round schedule have the first two weeks of October off.

My son's school district (Deer Valley, in Phoenix/Glendale) has Friday September 30th and Monday October 3rd off for "fall break".

It's also worth noting that Gay Days is on Oct 1 & 2 (Sat & Sun), which means large crowds are expected on those days. Monday, Oct 10 is Columbus Day and while not a lot of schools seem to get it off, it can be a three-day weekend for some folks.

hooray for this thread, I'm getting excited that *maybe* it will be lower crowds for our Oct 17-19 DLR trip...I've been once, solo, for Tink this year, and I was thinking "man, I can NEVER bring the 5 kids here, it is so crowded with nowhere to go!" Yet of course we are now planning to come
Anyone know about the MNSSHP at DLR? I am sure we are not doing the party, but does the park fill all day for the party? Or does DCA fill up on party night with people escaping the party (who don't have tix) ?

Good eye! Yes, I've finally finished updating the thread to include the second half of 2016 school breaks for the districts listed in the bottom of the post (for the most part at any rate). If folks have other dates they want added, please post them in the calendar thread. (Thanks!)

Anyone know about the MNSSHP at DLR? I am sure we are not doing the party, but does the park fill all day for the party? Or does DCA fill up on party night with people escaping the party (who don't have tix) ?

DL has Mickey's Halloween Party (MHP), which is both similar and different that MK's MNSSHP. Almost all of the MHPs typically sell out in advance and they are quite popular. I don't feel like the park is a lot more crowded during the day, but the overlap period tends to be pretty busy. Unless things change, the MHP allow guests to enter the park 3 hours before the start of the party (so at 3:00 pm for parties that start at 6:00 pm and 4:00 pm for days when the party starts at 7:00 pm). During those three hours, DL feels a lot more busy than it does earlier in the day. Once the party starts, there is a noticeable uptick in the crowds at DCA.

Exactly what I was thinking, on the part about the DCA uptick Thank you! Glad it's not too bad before the overlap, because I think at least one of the days we're there will be a party night (we're really planning a Tues/Wed visit but will get in Mon night and might sneak in for fireworks or something if it's not a party night).
