October reservations

Hello all! I used the Dis boards over a year ago to help plan my 18th birthday trip to WDW. Well, here I am, planning a trip to DL in October--and this was the first place I thought of!
Here is the deal--I'm going to New Zealand in October for a while, and my best friend and I wanted to do something special before I left. Well, DL is on the way out--and she has never been before, so I thought it would alot of fun . So, now I have some questions, and I'm hoping you all can help out.
I'm thinking we would stay October 1-5(well, checkout on the 5th, my plane leaves late--10pm), and I would LOVE to do a DL resort hotel(after staying at the WL in WDW, I fell in love with on-site hotels). So---what are my options? Is booking a package cheaper? And if so, through whom? I checked out the official DL page to see what deals they have--and when I tried to get a quote for the 'Magical Resort 2004' package, all the DL resorts were 'unavailalble'. We would also need a way to and from LAX--since we are both under 25.
I grew up going to DL and actually made a quick trip there last month while visiting CA--so I know about DL and Cal. Adventure. All I really need is ANY info ya'll can give me on the resorts and possible package deals. If I had a Disney visa card--would I get any special deals? Any help is appreciated.

I often use expedia with good results. I usually find that the quotes I get directly from Disney's websites are more expensive. I tried to book for Paradise Pier in September and could not get anywhere on Disney's website, went to expedia and got a room no problem.

You can also try Getawaytoday.com for packages. I have not used them, but have heard rave reviews for them.

i was going to tell you the offer that you would with the Disney Visa card, but right now there is none. I checked before I wrote you. You are realy batting "0". Better luck later, and have fun at Disney.
