WOW! After reading this thread Im freaking.....we booked last March for 10/4 - 10/11 & am amazed at how many others will be joining! (Of course this was way before free dining ~which we're not getting~ & didn't even consider Columbus Day weekend, we just figured school was in session & our little ones are only missing a couple days of preschool!! ....hmmm)!!! Or maybe its just that everyone going this time is a DIS'er :rotfl:

Im hoping it will still be tolerable crowds???.... :earsboy:

HeatherinVT - we will be heading to MGM that Thurs & hoping to get CRT for Sat as well!!!Pixie Dust to us Northerners :wizard:

PS Id love to join in for the evening w/the MWLL  but the following day would be a living h-e-doublehockeysticks!!! :earseek: :rolleyes1

We'll only be in the World 3 days, arriving Thurs, Oct. 6 and leaving Sunday the 9th for the Disney Wonder cruise. (I don't see many posts on these boards regarding the land-sea package - and don't see much regarding WDW on boards like Cruise Critic - anywhere else I could look for tips?)

We booked the package including airfare to MCO, so I don't know our arrival time yet. I'm assuming (hoping for) a morning flight so we can be at WDW by mid-day. Not sure how quickly the transfer from the airport happens (is that the Magic Express? Any good/bad experience with that?).

So, the basic itinerary (so far - please comment!):

Thursday afternoon/evening:
Drop bags, grab maps/info (staying at Poly)
Ride the monorail around the loop
Need suggestions for remainder of afternoon:
Head to MK? (DS3 will be chomping at the bit)
MGM (not as much we want to see there)
Beach at Poly?
No major dinner - fast food or buffet
Early evening

Friday:
All day at MK
Mid-day break for DS4 nap and dip in pool
Lunch or Dinner character meal at Crystal Palace

Saturday:
All day at Epcot
Mid-day break at Poly
(or morning at MGM, rest of day at Epcot)

Sunday:
Check out and head to AK for morning
Have heard that they'll transport bags to AK and cruise transport will pick us up from AK for trip to Port Canaveral - can anyone confirm this?

Anyway, we know we have a short time frame, and not trying to see everything. We'll focus on pre-school/no-thrills type attractions.

Any advice is appreciated!!

I haven't read through ALL the pages yet...so I'm not sure if anyone has popped in to give you any advice...but here goes my 2 cents...for all it's worth... As for any boards on WDW/DCL have you tryed the cruise board her on the dis? If not...just go to the top of the page and click "The Dis Discussion Forums"....from there scroll down until you see Disney Crusie line....from there you should be able to get ALOT of information.

Were going on our second Disney cruise this fall...with 2 days at WDW prior to the trip. I don't have much advise on land/sea packagaes as we opted to book a 7 day cruise with a couple days at the world added on. I haven't heard alot of great things about the disney arranged flights...so I really wouldn't plan anything for the day you arrive....keep in mind with that....that more often than not you'll hear the bad things and not the good. I'm sure not every disney aranged flight is bad...or they wouldn't be doing it. Just until you get your flight plans I wouldn't plan for that day. Who know's you may have a real early flight...or a real late flight.

Anyway's I just wanted to point you to the DCL discussion forum....

We are going the 22nd through Nov 5.

We fly in on the 22nd in the evening, (COMING FROM CA so 4 is about the earliest possible we could get there, getting there at like 6 florida time)

Sunday 23rd going to Cape Canaveral all day and hope to have dinner on the coast.

Monday 24th going to Epcot and hope to have princess breakfast at Akershus. My 90 day window happens to fall during my disneyland trip in 2 weeks so we shall see. But mainly just plan to enjoy the F&W festival that day and no special dinner plans.

Tuesday 25th AK dinner at Boma that evening.

Wed 26th Day off. Take girls on pirate adventure and tour some of the other resorts. We stayed on prop at contemporary last time and saw the 3 monorail resorts but would like to see some of the others. The guys will play golf this day. Adults only dinner at CG hope to watch fireworks.

Thurs 27th MGM. 50's prime time for lunch and H&V fantasmic package for dinner.

Friday 28th MK. Dinner at CRT and MNSHP that evening.

Sat 29th visit with family offsite

Sun 30th My dad and stepdaughter fly home. Rest of us go to Epcot. Dinner at Germany.

Mon 31st Day off. No plans yet. Either Universal or water park or just veg.

Tues 1 AK. Dinner at Fultons at DTD.

Wed 2 MK dinner at WC

Thurs 3 MGM dinner at SCI FI DRIVE IN

Fri 4 Open

Sat 5 fly home

We are going Oct 1st through the 7th. We are staying at Give Kids the World. This is our daughter's Wish trip from Make a Wish.

Cast:
Me - 32
DH - 34
DS - 12
DD - 10
DS - 9

Saturday Oct 1st
We don't know what time our flights our, but I'm hoping for a morning flight.
We do have ADR at Whispering Canyon at 5:00.
The orientation is at 7:30pm at GKTW. We will receive our park tickets at that time.

Sun Oct 2nd
Breakfast at CP at 8:05. Stay at the MK until lunch time. Go back to the resort for naps and change into our costumes. We are hoping for warm weather because our costumes involve shorts and t-shirts. Go back to the MK for a 4:00 ADR at LTT. Hopefully stay until the end of the party.

Mon Oct 3rd.
Sea World day. I'm hoping this will be a relaxing, slow day. We will really take it easy. The kids will probably still be worn out from the night before.

Tues Oct 4th
Universal and Islands of Adventure. We are really excited about this. We have never been there. We will either eat lunch at Hard Rock or Margaritaville at City Walk. We'll stay until close at Universal, then order pizza back at GKTW for dinner.

Wed Oct 5th
We have a ADR for Goofy's Beach Bash at 7:50am. (Thank goodness we are morning people!!) This is our Epcot day. No plans yet for lunch. We may just eat around the world for the Food and Wine Festival or walk over to the Boardwalk for the Big River Brewing Co or ESPN club. We'll see. The kids don't want to see Illuminations this trip, so I made an ADR for Ohana for dinner at 8:00.

Thursday Oct 6th
This is our AK/MGM day. We hope to be at the AK by opening. We'll just grab breakfast either at GKTW or at Tusker House. We'll do our favorites there, then move over to MGM. We have an ADR for 2:00 at Prime Time Cafe. Then we'll stay until close. At GKTW, the Chistmas Party is this evening, so we definitely want to go to that. We'll grab dinner at GKTW.

Friday Oct 7th
We don't know what time our flights are, so this day is really up in the air. If we have a late flight, we'll have another ticket for Universal, so we'll probably go back there.

That's our tentative schedule. Feel free to make comments or suggestions.

Thanks for the advice - don't know how I missed that forum!

Our tentative schedule for our first family trip to WDW with 3 kids princess: princess: pirate: under 7 is:

Friday, October 7th Arrive at WL by 4 ish...hopefully....6pm "we're at Disney!" dinner at Chef Mickey's

Saturday, October 8th Epcot...be there at opening...our kids get up by 6:30 am every single day of the year. Lunch or Dinner at Coral Reef (they also like restaraunts) depends when we take our "break"

Sunday, October 9th Animal Kingdom Again, be there at opening...planning on trying to stay all day 'cause it closes early and we are really into animals and zoos...if the baby won't sleep in stroller then will have to leave...got to be flexible Boma early dinner

Monday, October 10th MGM am til 1ish...go back to WL...Hoop Dee Doo 5pm OR if I get Perfectly Princess Party and Pirate Party..that will be morning and MGM will be another day

Tuesday, October 11th Hopefully breakfast at Crystal Palace as early as I can get it...then MK till around 1 or 2. Back to WL....dinner and evening Downtown Disney (kids will get a kick out of lego store) OR MGM if missed on Monday

Wednesday, October 12 Our full MK day, hopefully lunch at CRT, leave after lunch, back around 4 ish...hope to see fireworks but our kids tend to tire out by 8. Dinner up in the air

Thursday...if can get it, this is the ideal day for tea party and pirate cruise both at GF. Then, back to WL....maybe hang out or go wherever, ride boats, pool, etc.

Friday...nothing planned yet. Anyone have any suggestions for last night fun with young ones?

Saturday, back home, with enough cash in the budget (which is already IN the budget) to pick up something to eat, go home and bed. The only thing I look forward to in leaving a vacation is being in my own bed!

We aren't going either...and we have 2 opportunities the week we are going....our kids would never, ever make it to stay up and enjoy everything. They are in bed by 7 during school...and sometimes will go to 8:30 on special occasions...and they are 6, 4 1/2 and 20 mos. I think that when the youngest is 4 or 5 we may go back and try it when we can all enjoy the festivities.

DJBOUNCE _ WHere is the GTKW resort? Hope you have a great stay :goodvibes :flower:

We are going the 14th to the 22nd. The only plans we have and probably will have are MNSSHP on the 16th and 20th. My husband prefers to play it by ear, which drives me crazy. I think as things get closer, I will make basic plans for us. As for now, who knows...just glad to be going.

We are going October 26-30 and no real plans yet other than MNSSHP on the 27th and LTT that night at 6:10pm.

Am going to try for 1900 Park Fare dinner for 12, Wishes cruise, CRT and California Grill.....:)

Can't wait to see all the costumes!

Pooh: I'm not exactly sure on where GKTW is. I do know it is near Walmart. They have a wonderful website at www.gktw.org . I know that when we fly in, a representative will be waiting for us at the airport. They will help us get our rental vehicle (which they provide) and will give us detailed directions to the resort. We are very excited. We have heard wonderful things about this resort and the special things they do for the kids.

DJBounce - checked out the site, very impressive :flower: Hope your family has a magical time at the world :goodvibes :teeth: :wizard: :cheer2:

I didn't try for the castle yet

we get in late our first night and it would make me nervous trying to get there - on Sunday - I booked my mom and Julia for the Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the GF and it is at 10:30

I am going to start trying tomorrow -

Just wanted to let you know - I found out in April I was going in May - of course no reservations - I called everyday until I went and the week before I was able to get CRT - so you might just want to keep trying - especially the week before when people start cancelling - and watch the Dining board - people post on there all the time that they are cancelling reservations!!

I am always up for a meet - it's my DH who might be the problem!!!

Ok, I'm posting again since I've changed so much....let me know what you think since you know these aren't set in stone :rotfl:

Arrive 10/4 - use ME to arrive at POP, grab passes head over to MK by about 3pm (flight gets in at noon). Head over to Fantasyland & do whatever dd's want to do immediately. Crystal Palace for dinner (5:05) Tour MK, stay for Spectro & Wishes (if on this night)

10/5 - Animal Kingdom - Donald's at 8am, tour AK till after parade head over to Chef Mickey's for 6:15 dinner. After dinner either head back to POP to swim or DTD depends on how hot it was today.

10/6 - Epcot am (not at opening though 10 ish), Princess Storybook lunch at 11:55. The girls only like 2 things at Epcot: Illuminations and Test Track so use FP for TT if possible. Bring costumes in backpack, head over to MK for LTT seating at 4:15 for dinner. MNSSHP & yes I know this will be a long day.

10/7 CRT 9:15 spend day in MK till whenever we're ready to leave. Back to pop for swim. Either head over to MGM for fantasmic or DTD depends on which they want.

10/8 MGM (again there are only 3 things the girls want to do: Playhouse DIsney, Honey I shrunk playground, Beauty & the beast, and maybe Rock & Roller coaster (willhave to kid swap,,11 yr old & I). Chef Mickey's again for dinner at 5pm. Peter Pan Cruise (with fellow DIS'ers) approx 7pm - watch Wishes

10/9 Girls Choice - probably AK.
Dinner at 1900 Park Faire 6pm
Back to MK for last night of fun :(

10/10 - Breakfast at POP buy loads of Mickey Rice Crispy bars for plane & head home

Now AK & MK are our favorite parks so that's why there is not much time at Epcot or MGM.

Any input would be appreciated

What's the "Peter Pan Cruise"? I seem to recall hearing something like that for Grand Gatherings to view Wishes--is that what you are doing? Or is this something else?

Yep that's exactly it....Another DIS member organized a grand gathering of sorts...& a few of us joined in. It really sounds like a blast. I don't know a lot of the details, but I do know it's a cruise with Capt Hook & Mr. Sneed & at the end you are greeted by Peter (& maybe Wendy?) I think it starts off with dessert? Heck I don't know! It just sounded fun & like something different to do!
