I'm in the beginning stages of planning our Disney trip for Fall 2007. It will be my son's first trip (at that time he'll be almost 5 years old), my 5th and my husbands 3rd. How are October and November for crowds and weather? My SIL & her family might come with us and they can only go in October. If they don't go, we're going the first week in November.

We have alwasy gotten better rates in November (October is a Prime Convention Month) and the weather is perfect for walking around and the parks aren't as crowded. For me, it's the ideal time of year to go and stay. If you do plan to go in October, purchase tickets for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ASAP, they sell out very fast!

Tcolbert,
Would a 4 and 6 year old enjoy the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? It is thier first Disney trip, and I want to do stuff that they will remember and enjoy and not be scared. Thank you for any information you can give me!

I am glad op started this thread. I am also planning a Oct/2007 trip. My 2nd, and the first for my husband and DD8/DS4. .

We definately want to go to Mickeys Not-so-scary Halloween Party. Do they limit the tickets, so there are few crowds? How busy is it? I wonder what the earliest time to buy is?

I cannot wait!!!!

We went last October - from posts on MNSSHP here on the dis, and because I had went to an enight in July (no longer offered btw but it was $10 per person for after park closed - empty parks!!) I had expectations of low crowds - WRONG!!

Prepare for HIGH crowds - for us early Oct is still hurricane season, so it was HUMID so how the DIsney characters survive in their costumes is beyond me!! IT rained and cancelled an early parade (while we were dining, so I didnt realize this - so notice the trend here?? MY lack of planning!!) so the 10pm parade was CROWDED 4 - 7 people deep - you can only imagine the jostling to get the best view - kids were crying when they got pushed by a videotaping adult - madhouse (this was by Frontier land btw) I was so discouraged!!

We did ride many rides - splash, potc, HM, its sm wrld, Philharmagic, Buzz, Indy cars - but it was just crowded even if you only waited 10 - 20 min for the rides, getting from one ride to the next was crowded -

The candy lines looked long, they moved , but for us I couldnt believe the people were standing around for Penny CAndy (like those laffy taffy things) even dd gave up after being pushed by an adult!!

Our favorite ride was TTA it was above the crowds, it was cool, and comfy -

There were other entertainments, but I just wasnt prepared, we didnt get our family picture taken either - so just be prepared...

We went in October (1999), and the weather and crowds were perfect. It wasn't near Halloween, though. Check out the Unofficial Guide for more info on when to go. It's an excellent book for all your planning. I think the fall is a wonderful time at Disney!

we were at WDW in this past November and we'll definately go back. The crowds were not too bad. However, it was during what is referred to as as "Jersey Week" which meant elevated crowds Thurs - Saturday. (The state of NJ has a teachers conference for a few days each November so many people take a quick trip to Florida). I've added at the end of this post future Jersey Weeks.

It wasn't too bad but we'll likely avoid Jersey Week this year as the quites will be even lighter the week before and week after.

The WORST experience we had that week was going to MGM while the Soapstars weekend was on. It was packed with thousands upon thousands of soap opera fans lined up to meet & greet ABC's Soap stars. The rides weren't busy but there were so many people it was impossible to walk in a straight line for more than 10 feet (and I'm NOT exagerrating). With a three young children it was a nightmare ... we left by noon and went elsewhere. AVOID MGM that weekend at ALL costs. Compared to Soapstars the Jersey Week crowds were non existent.

Future Jersey weeks

Mickey's Not-So-Scary is exactly that. Lots of kids show up dressed in their costumes and it is a fun event. They get to trick-or-treat and go home with lots of goodies. DS5 was very disappointed when we didn't get tickets in time last year.

I hadn't even thought about Jersey week and just booked a trip 11/8-13 because our kids have that Thurs & Fri off. We may need to reconsider.

As far as MNSSHP, we went in 2004 and our kids - 3, 6 and 7 at the time - loved it. We went on the 1st night and crowds weren't bad at all. The parade is really cool - w/the Headless Horseman galloping down Main Street!!! We had a character dinner at LTT so we were in the park when it opened for the party and did all our trick-or-treating before it got busy. Then we simply told the children, no more, when the lines for candy were out of control. We were able to walk on rides like Buzz and Space Mtn.

We found WDW to be far, far, far more crowded this past October than during past years. It was hot and humid, which really wasn't so bad since the kids got to swim.

Sillysully,

I wouldn't change your plans because of Jersey Week. If you follow a touring plan and go to the Parks for opening you will be fine. The parks didn't really get crowded until almost noon and by then we had seen and done pretty much everything we wanted to see with our DD9, DD6, DD3.

As I said earlier, Jersey Week isn't that bad, HOWEVER avoid MGM during Soapstars Weekend at ALL COSTS.

Halloween is kind of busy but not too bad. The weather is awesome and not oo cold/not too hot. The crowds aren't bad either. There are lines but my husband didn't even complain once. He's bad about lines.

Have a great time!
