Hi everyone. I am new. My name is Sara, I am seventeen years old. I have never been to Disney World, and I am currently in the making of planning a trip. I was thinking about a trip on April vacation, but now I am thinking of October, such as, leave on the 23, and coming home on the 28th?
Can anyone who has been to Disney in October tell me what it's like, there thoughts, what they did, how it is different from the rest of the year, etc?

October is a great time to go - the weather is nice and the crowds are manageable. I would suggest looking at the MNSSHP threads to see if you want to consider doing the Halloween Party - I think it is a lot of fun - no matter what age you are. Enjoy yourself! :sunny:

October and April should both be nice, still warm enough to swim but not sweltering. In October you could do the Halloween party. In April you need to be aware that lots of schools are on Spring Break. The week before and the week after Easter are pretty busy down there. Are you planning on missing school? Lots of folks do and say their kids do fine, but I think it would be hard to do in high school depending on what classes you are taking. Some schools have strict rules about not missing too. Fall and Spring are both nice at WDW. We have been at all times of the year and each time has its plusses and minuses. Have fun planning!

October is great, mostly because of the International Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT - a MUST DO if you're there!

But aged 17 obviously you'd just be enjoying the EPCOT Food Festival... :rotfl:

That's true! ;)

But hey, I'm not a wine drinker (and I'm of legal age!), but the food is SO GOOD that it's still a can't-miss! :)

Great time to go. I will be there that same week. Still warm but not nearly as hot as it is right now. You gotta do the halloween party at Magic Kingdom. We are going to the one on October 24. I know that there is at least one other one that week

Have a great trip

I concur with the other posters. October is a great time to be at WDW. I will say that the weather seems to transition in the month of October. You may get some cooler days or you may experience some warmer days. Make sure to check weather.com to view average lows and highs for October in Orlando and pack your cloths accordingly.

Hi Sara,
October is great. Im 29 my fiance is 24 --- we've been going to disney together ( either just us or with family and freinds ) every Oct. for 5 years. We are getting married on proporty(sea breeze point ) this Oct. As everyone says the weather is great, lines are short. But the two things we allways do are MNSSHP (mickeys not so scary halloween party) and Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. MNSSHP is a must, the atmosphere is great. The lines are almost nonexistant because alot of people are trick or treating with their kids. I do recomend stopping and trick or treating too if you pass one because the characters are all dressed in halloween costumes. I hate disney parades I use them as time to get into shorter lines, however this parade is great its got all the villians in it and all the regulars too. If you do choose to watch it go to liberty tree square about a half hour before the parade and listen to the town cryer tell the legend of sleepy hallow----right after he's done the headles horseman will appear and take off down the parade route. This is a great night for the whole family. we're in our 20's and love it.

Now if your traveling with friends your age or your parents-- (not young kids) I HIGHLY recomend HHN (Halloween Horror Nights). If you like scary this will make you jump. Its alot of fun but beware its very pricey compared to MNSSHP but there is a reason for it. They convert the whole park over at night and the haunted houses are incredable. MNSSHP costs @ $40 (cant remeber because the fiance bought those) HHN costs @ $63 after taxes --however if you go multiple nights---they call it a frequent fear pass--the second night is only a buck I think. If you are only going on one night ( which we are) I recomend getting an express pass it is an extra @$50 but it is well worth it. Ive done this event many times, the lines are every long --if you only do one night and dont get the express pass you might only see 3 or 4 houses-----with the express pass you can do them all---some twice and still ride the rides.

The Food and Wine festival is alot of fun too. Great food--lots of good music and entertainment. Its every day all day and night at epcot while your there ---no extra charge except for the food you buy.

If you have any other questions that I can help with let me know. Have fun planning most of us on here do it year round we enjoy it so much.

I knew I had to post on this thread because I was wondering the same thing. We are going next year in October, 2007. The dates you mentioned are about the time we would go next year. Glad to hear the parks are not extremely busy at that time. We went in June this year and it was HOT and crowded! I think we would all enjoy it more if it wasn't so HOT! Also, wanted to take my two boys who will be 10 and 7 to the MNSSHP. Sounds like lots of fun!!!! :thumbsup2 Besides, it is regular season then, and not summer season so a little bit cheaper.

We went in October for the first time last year and I don't think I would plan a trip any other time of the year now. We loved it - great weather, not crowded, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We'll be there in October this year.

We are also going from the 21st-28th. We went last year and had a great time. The weather was still warm enough for shorts and swimming everyday. We brought sweatshirts, but didn't use them. The lines were shorter than when we went in April. We are meeting friends down this time.

Hey Sara, welcome to the boards... :) IMO: I think October is one of the best times to go. The weather is wonderful and you will be there during one of the best parades they have going... Make sure you check out the Halloween parade in the Magic Kingdom... its great!!
:thumbsup2

Well thanks everyone. It sounds like it is going to be a blast! I cannot wait. But to anyone who is going that week, I am bringing along my niece, who will be 9, at that time, if anyone has other children, or even would like to get together and do a park, or something, you guys should pm me! I would love to meet you guys!
