Hi all,

Disaster struck last week. There we were at the Airport waiting to fly to CDG for our first family trip to DLP, and the cancelled the flight - :headache: !! Anyway, we are now over the disappointment after arranging an alternative holiday last week, however we want to rebook to try and get to DLP in October.

Tried reading up as much as poss on all hotel options and am now completely confused. From everyones experience would you recommend staying in an actual Disney hotel, or something slightly offsite such as Explorers or Holiday Inn? We are looking at a 4/5 day trip and don't mind paying a little extra for some comfort (although doesn't look like we can stretch to Disneyland Hotel - ).

My husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Hotel new York and it was worth the extra money! Last time we stayed at Sequoia Lodge and we didn't love it...it wasn't horrible or anything but it was really loud and crowded and the breakfast crowd was ridiculous! There just always seemed to be people everywhere-and this was in October!

Now that it is busy season, we stayed at the HNY and noticed that the Hotel is set up in such a way that A) it;s not loud and overrun with people everywhere B) Breakfast was pleasant and never overcrowded and C) the rooms were much nicer and we had a great view! (we only paid for standard)

Even though the HNY has no quick food places, and we had to order room service with an 11 Euro sandwich one night b/c we were starving ; ) we still found this place to be much better than SL(they have a bar with food while HNY has a bar with no food or a buffet that's pricey or a fancy restaurant as their options). As for Holiday Inn, we looked at it but didn't stay there-I think a lot of people really like it there...but for us the convenience of literally having a 5 minute walk to the park it so worth it than having to deal with shuttles-especially if it's crowded!

Here are some pics of our view/room:

Given the choice staying in a Disney Hotel will IMHO score for theming and all round Disney experience. The partner hotels are all not that far from the magic, so you don't feel far away.
Unfortunately for us as a family of 5,Davy Crockett Ranch or Explorer are the best options :)
