October Cruising

We just decided to book a cruise for October 18th to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.

I'm curious to know what the weather will be like? What are our chances of encountered a hurricane? What happens if there is a hurricane during our cruise? My daughter would freak if this happened.

We cruised in October on the Wonder and the weather was great. Water at CC was a bit cool but not too bad for swimming.Not many cruises are cancelled do to hurricanes, since weather can track them the captain can choose to change the ports you will visit to avoid the storm, if there is one. Don't worry about it and just plan on having a great cruise.

DW and I were on a Royal Carribean cruise back in '89 a little over a day before Hurricane Hugo hit. We had great weather and had no clue anything was going on until we got back to Miami and it was huge news!

If there is a storm in the area , they will route the ship around it so worst case is that you may not go the the scheduled ports. Hurricane "season" runs from June to November, with the thoretical peak on September 9th.

We'll be on the same cruise with you in October. It will be our 3rd year to go in October, and we have had great weather both times before! Very little rain, fair seas and plenty of sunshine!

The captain and crew make every effort to steer clear of bad weather, even to the point of going to alternate destinations.
They won't steer us into the eye of a hurricane, I can assure you that! Of course they have state-of-the-art weather tracking equipment, and they amaze me at how they can find the calmest waters all the time, without the passengers ever knowing that they've changed course. Tell your daughter not to worry!!

We cruised last year on the 4 day Wonder at the very end of October and the weather was awesome! We were never hot and the weather and water in Nassau and Castaway Cay was perfect.

Loved it so much we are cruising again at the end of October on the Magic!
