October cruises

Not too sure about late October, but I can't imagine it being too different from mid October...

Last Oct. (10/13 - 10/20) the weather was great - sunny, patchy clouds, little rain, and no scorching temps. As for the seas - they were on the rough side.
Didn't bother me in the slightest, but DW was a little queasy. The kids couldn't care less! They ran at full speed all week and didn't know the darn thing was even moving! However, if rough seas bother you at all, expect to be tossed a bit that time of year. Take a box of 'Simply Motion' , and you're good to go. ENJOY !!!!

We had a wonderful time in late October--early November. It was funny to hear the "locals" in Nassau complaining about how cold the water was. The ocean was warmer than the lakes and rivers in New York, Pennsylvania and Indiana where I have lived. We thought the water was very pleasant.

Take some variety of clothing. Pack so that you can dress in layers. Take a pair of slacks if you wear them and some shorts. Take sleeveless or short sleeved tops and sun dresses as well as a sweater, blazer or shawl that will coordinate. If it is cool you can put something more on. Restaurants are airconditioned and the ship is airconditioned so you would want that layer even if you were cruising in the summer. Put it on when you are inside the ship and when you step out on a deck take it off and carry it.

Have a wonderful time. No matter what the weather you will have your best friend as your roommate--what could be better?

We were on the ship 10/21 - 10/26/00 and we loved it. When I schedule another one, it will be about the same time of year. It was still very warm outside during the day but would get a little cool on the top deck in the evening - take a light jacket. The water was a little cool but it was nothing you couldn't get used to. We did have rough seas - every snorkling excursion was canceled. It didn't bother me at all. My husband got sick the first night but was fine after that. I'm assuming by your name that this will be your honeymoon, are people giving you hard time about going Disney?

We love to sail in October! The weather is usually fantastic! There can be a tropical storm somewhere which might stir up the "bathtub" a bit. I wouldn't worry about it though!
Happy cruising!

Cruised Oct 5, 2000 with PERFECT weather. Mid 80's every day. One day it rained for 15 minutes (a sea day so who cares?) and that was IT. CC was picture perfect. Never even put on our sweaters or light jackets once!! We are going again this October and can't wait! We also love the parks in Oct. The MNSSHP is worth every penny and the BEST time in the park (IMHO).

We cruised in late Oct. last year & I LOVED it. I don't like the hot, humid weather in Florida & the Bahamas in June (when we sailed before), and all of that was gone!!

I guess you will always run the risk of the hurricane season storm, but the odds rreally are in your favor. I would love to go in late oct. again -- the only problem we had was taking DS out of school. He missed a lot of activities & never really did get much homework done on board. So this time we're going again in June again... yukky weather, but better than no cruise at all of course!

We cruised during the first week in October, 2000 (Sept 30 - Oct 7), and had great weather. We did get re-routed, going to Key West instead of St. Maarten, but the seas were fine, and the storm turned south, so that we were able to go to St. Thomas as scheduled.

I thought the water was plenty warm, both at Key West, and at Castaway Cay (we didn't go in the water at St. Thomas, but it was very warm there). The only rain we saw was Sunday morning at Key West. I never needed a jacket or sweatshirt when we were outside; even at night, it was still very warm.

I'd have no reservations about cruising in October again.
