October crowds/weather?

Going october 14-19. Any idea what the crowds are like? The weather?
tips?

We went in early October last year (3-7) and are returning at that time this year, just a week later. I was shocked at how crowded it was in October! I had no idea, but I guess Haunted Mansion Holiday draws quite a crowd. I am expecting it to be busy this year as well, since we noticed the hotels we have been calling are saying they are filling up for october quick.

Been putting off booking the PP hotel because Expedia requires payment now but maybe I should book it before it is too late....yikes. didn't really think about how busy it would be in october....

We went a few years ago in October and had a blast. It was still beautiful weather and there weren't a lot of people in the park as well. The lines weren't long at all. Of course this being the end of the 50th, things could be different. I hope not. We are going in the first week of September.

We've been going in Oct. for years.
It used to be a really nice, quiet time to go, but I think the gig is up.
It's been fairly busy our past few Oct trips, and last year it was just CRAZY busy!

You might want to check the dates for UEA (Teacher education, student holiday for Utah schools) if you hit those dates you'll definitely know it.

Weather is usually great in Oct.
DH and DS go with shorts, it's usually a bit cool for me to do that, but we're coming from weather that is probably 10-12 degrees warmer on average, so 76 can feel downright chilly to me.
Definitely plan on bringing along a lightweight jacket for layering as it can be cool in the mornings and evenings even if it gets up to 80 or so during the day.

Don't want to scare you with the crowd stuff - just be prepared since crowds are a possibility that time of year.

We're thinking about October too since our early Dec. plans got nixed by dh's boss. UEA is Oct. 12-13 and our school district here in Washington has Oct. 13th off also. We probably aren't going that week to avoid the crowds. I heard Arizona schools have time off in October too. Anyone know when that is, or any other states school break? I imagine with the new Halloween stuff Disney is doing October will be fairly crowded in general.

AZ is a bit unique since every school district sets it's own calendar (there are 30 different districts just in Phoenix)

Our district has 1/2 days on the 19th and 20th and a lot of folks take advantage of that and skip out for a long weekend.

My nieces are in another AZ district and they have the 16th-20th off for fall break.

I'm not sure how much impact either of those would have though since it's not a statewide thing.
(and I'm not checking all 30 districts for vacation dates)

We are going in late October and it looks like the crowd levels are forecast to be quite low then. Hope so! We have been to WDW when it is not crowded and that was great - late Feb/early March. We are also big fastpass believers so that always helps!
