October BLT...chances?

We were planning to do a 2BR at OKW because we were travelling with a group...but now its just us (fam of 4) and we'd like to try for BLT studio Oct 22-29th. I am thinking we won't have a chance for a standard view at 7 months but think we'd have no trouble getting a lake view.
What do you think?

Call right at the 7 mth mark at 9:00am. I know when we tried 1 day past the 7 month for the 1st weekend of October the only studios available were at AKL, OKW and SS. Good luck!

I think you have a decent chance of a lakeview studio. If you don't get it definitely try a waitlist.

Walking is really only a strategy at 11 months when nobody has had the ability to book the room. At 7 months you could run into days that were booked by owners that would interrupt your walk. I was booking BLT for November and inquired about MK view. There were days here and there that were booked and other's that were available. If a person attempted to walk at 7 months during that time it would not work.

Walking a reservation is when you book a reservation for days earlier than you really want so you get a jump on things.

For example, say you want to stay Dec 10 - 17. Your 11 month window opens on Jan 10th. Well, instead, you call on Jan 3rd, and book Dec 3rd to the 10th.

You then call back on Jan 9th, and cancel the beginning days and add ones to the end so you end up with Dec 9 - 16. Because no one else can book that room until the 10th, you were automatically guaranteed to get your nights. At some point, a few days later, drop the 9th and add the 17th.

I agree. I don't like the walking reservations thing, & I have enough points to be able to do so. It is like the people that make 3 dining reservations at 3 different restaurants for the same day, staggering the times just enough so the computer won't kick them.

As for BLT in October, we were at 8 months (why wait? another story) & we booked a LV for a week, but could not book a MK or SV for the whole week. Good luck.

So I called disney yesterday to inquire about a week 7 months from now....2 nights of the week were not available at BLT for a stuido any view...I could get a one bedroom for the whole week but I don't have enough points.

Our dates are pretty flexible...we just need to be their either on the 17th or 25th of October for the Disney YES program class for my daughter..and we want to go to one of the Halloween parties...I am pretty bummed. I thought it would be easier.. I am hoping the following two weeks will be easier. I think the weeks starting the 16th may be less busy and therefore easier to get. I plan to call to call every day to see if something opens up .

I think you will have more luck with the date of the 17th than the 25th as it gets closer to Halloween BLT becomes more popular due to its proximity to MK.

I'm hoping to get a standard view studio at BLT for October 16th, a Sunday...hope there's still one available when I'm able to book this Wednesday!! Now I'm worried!

Did you add a waitlist? Might not hurt to set it up for the first week so that you're already on a list in case your second choice also has gaps in the dates. You might get lucky and catch a room from a BLT owner trying to switch at the 7 month mark.

I would expect this to be near impossible- when I have called at 10.5 months I have to waitlist a SV if that is what I want. I have normally been told I am getting the last 1 when I call on day of- normally to get SV you would need to be a BLT owner calling at 11months out. I would be ready to take a LV if that is available.

I agree. I've had to call right at the 11 month mark to get the SV rooms at BLT. I've seen post where owners can't get them even at the 11 month window. The only thing that helps is that the poster is looking for only 1 day, so that's always a possibility.

Sorry to tell you there isn't We tried for a sv 11-18th studio and no luck..I think only one or two of the days were available. We never really thought we could get sv..I'd take any view

We tried for the 11-18 and the 13 and 15th were not available...she told me I could not waitlist because it was in the middle of the reservation and the gaps would be after the 7 mos window.It may also have to do with the fact that I only have 182 points and I need 104 for the reservation...and so I can't waitlist somewhere else and have enough points for the blt...I am hoping that we can get sometime later in the month. I am really hoping for teh 16-22nd or the following week...but I would have taken the 11-18th if it was available. I don't really have a second choice for this trip..I really wanted BLT. I'll stay anywhere else if I don't get it.

You just never know. I ended up cancelling my BLT studio just today for the 15th and 16th of October because my DH is now coming on our summer trip so we have decided not to still go in October.

thanks!! I will call tomorrow at 9am sharp to try to get the 14-20..now that maybe the 15th will open up!! Here's hoping.

Call back today and get another CM if you would be willing to accept those dates. What you were told is not correct. As long as the 11th (well, today it would be the 13th) is available you can set up a waitlist for up to 7 days. It must be a single waitlist for all the days though. Someone else recently was told what you were but when they called back it was determined they could waitlist. It follows the same premise that if all the days had been available you could have booked the 11th-18th so a waitlist filling for the 11th-18th is not changing any booking rules.
