When are most schools in during October? What are the School Holidays?

Thanks

I usually go every year the first week of October and it's never too bad, I'm able to get all the rides I want in one day with no problem and not even stay until closing time.

I went in 07 in the 1st week in oct and it wasn't busy till the weeking when it was columbis day.... we were gonna go the same time this year but someone posted that the fall breaks are in the beggining of october this year..... maybe someone can comment for sure....

I'm guessing the 1st week of Oct. this year will be really crowded ~ UT public schools will have their fall break 10/1 & 10/2 + that weekend should be Gay Days ~ perhaps the 1st full week of Oct. (weekdays) won't be too bad, I'd assume most Utahns would be there the last week of Sept. into the 1st weekend of Oct.

I'm thinking of going somewhere during 10/18-10/24

Our Fall Break here in AZ is Oct. 5th-9th (1st full week).
Some schools have a 2-week fall break in AZ...I think it's that week and the week after? Not sure about that though...

Hi DisneyMomma81! Greetings from another Utahn! Our fall break in Utah County is 10/15 - 10/16/09 so I am guessing that the third week will be crazy busy as well as that is when U.E.A. is. I know we'll be there!

Fall breaks in AZ (which seem to mean a lot of people head to DLR) are either the week of Oct. 5 or Oct. 12 or both.

We don't have year-round school, but we usually start up the second week of August, so fall break is at the end of the first quarter. In general, it's a nice time to travel with decent weather plus not too many crowds most places. Except when we all go to DL!:)

October can be unexpectedly crowded and unexpectedly hot. It was both early last October and I'm sticking to other times to visit. There is just too much going on that month from school holidays to ToT parties, to HalloweenTime, and Columbus Day....busy time to visit! If you don't mind both those things, go and enjoy the cool decorations and attractions! We loved that part of it!

Gay Days is usually the first or second weekend of October, too, and that can add to the crowds.

Weekends are busy, always. The crowds in Oct. have been getting busier in recent years because of the Mickey Trick or Treat parties, especially on the weekends. Add fall breaks for Utah and Arizona, Columbus Day...

We went Oct. 11th-16th last fall, it was Sunday-Thursday. I think we happened to time it just right-- after Arizona but Utah started on Thursday. We hit Columbus Day but it wasn't too bad, then Tues. and Wednesday were actually pretty calm. Thursday was getting busy again by the time we left in the afternoon.

Really, though, if you just get there early and make good use of FastPass, and maybe take afternoon breaks to get out the crowds, you should be fine.

A couple years ago we went the week before Halloween, October 21-25-ish (give or take a day or two, I can't remember the exact dates). The weather was really nice, and the decorations were cool, but it was crazy busy. We managed really well with fast passes and all of that, but there were a lot of people. By the last day we were ready to go home, we were done dealing with crowds! I've heard that October is busy pretty much all month long. I think if I was leaning towards a fall trip again, I would aim for mid-September or maybe mid-November. :confused3

We went the first week in October in '08. It was SO crowded!

I'm not so sure I would consider October an off season month anymore....but if you use your fastpasses right and get there at the rope drop, you should be okay.

Wow...suprised to hear that October of last year was so busy...we were there Tuesday the 7th & Wednesday the 8th and we felt like we had the place to ourselves...especially on Weds. (Tues was BLAZING, RECORDBREAKING HOT though..that was tough).

Maybe it's cause we just went on the smaller rides...no big ones for our then 2 and 4 year olds...so that might have been it?

We did get there JUST after opening on Tuesday, but it was MM so everyone had a one hour jump on us.
On Weds. we were lined on Main St. waiting for rope drop and THAT day felt realy nice and empty to us...no FP's used, since the only ones we would have needed would have been Buzz and Autopia, and they weren't even turned on that day! (I still have the Times Guide from our trip....no FP for either of them!)

So, I loved our Oct. trip last year...and I'm worried about how crowded it's going to feel for this trip in 3 weeks (Mon 3/16-Thurs. 3/19)...we felt quite spoiled last trip, but then again it was MY 1st trip in over 20 years, so who am I to judge crowds?! :rotfl:

As for AZ fall breaks--we're a regular calendar that just has a one week Fall Break built in, similar to the typical one week Spring Break. We just start back to school one week earlier in the summer to make "room" for the Fall Break Week.

I think the districts that have 2 week fall, winter and spring breaks are regular calendars too...not year round. They just back up their "start" date into the summer a bit (2 weeks) and then just don't get out until a little later in June (to make up for the 2 week Spring Break.)
I could be wrong, but that is how one of the districts down in Phoenix does it where a friend of mine teaches. :-) :teacher:
