October 7, 2007 Wonder

Finally, I've been wondering if anyone else was on this ride or if we'd have it all too ourselves. :)

My family will be there. We are also coming in a day early for the 3 day land part. We are Mom, Dad, DS9 and DS11. Just yesterday we turn in all our passport info. We've booked a room at the Comfort Inn in Nassau so we can do the Atlantis thing. Still need to get my flight.. I'm hoping to find a deal between now and October. Anyone familiar with this? I'm nervous.

Anyone working on a Door Magnet Thing? We're on the 2nd deck..way down low.. but that's ok.. :)

Nice meeting you all...

BTW - This is our first family cruise and on Disney even! Not sure what to expect or plan for. Will the boys care about Characters (I dont think so). Will they care about pin trading (they haven't so far)...

Hi Peace:

Welcome! Your boys will probably love the pirate night even if they don't get into the characters, so I wouldn't worry. Last cruise we had lots of door magnets because we had decorated for Christmas, not sure if we'll do too much this year. Be aware-they don't allow any type of adhesives--bring magnets only! We had stateroom 2017 on our last cruise and loved it. It was all the way forward and really quiet. It was small but a great value for the price we paid. Do you know your room numbers yet?? Check this website for stateroom reports to get a review of your room. Also, you didn't say where you were flying from, but you can usually find really cheap seats with Southwest and AirTran if you don't mind the cattle call when boarding. Also, check Expedia and Orbitz for the non-discount airlines. If you go to seatguru.com you can see if you have a bad seat before you pick your seat assignment. Of course this doesn't apply if you fly Southwest. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions. Everybody on this thread has been great!

Hi there! I can't believe we are getting so close to the cruise. As for characters and pins, my girls were already kind of tired of characters when we did Disney last year (they were 7 and 8). We did get sucked into pin trading - we were each given a lanyard and 4 pins as one of those "wishes" gifts at Blizzard Beach, and so they got into it. I didn't see as much going on with pin trading on the cruise as at the parks, but I will probably wind up buying them one for the cruise, and they might do a pin trading event if we can fit it in. But it would be easy enough to avoid on the cruise.

I am starting to get worried about how to plan/fit in all the activities. We have early dining, and then would see the show afterwards. But I'd also like to do dinner at Palo, which can be booked pretty soon, but I don't know whether to do it at dinnertime and feed the kids pizza or burgers on deck, and do Palo at regular dinner time... or some other setup. I don't want us to miss the shows, either. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm excited, but I'm doing the planning. Everyone else is kinda, ok, yea we know we have vacation plans, but until it is closer.. they aren't onboard yet. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the Mickey Ears for the door. For magnets, I'm going to use all those adertisement magents stuck to the fridge :).

Here is the link for the ears, if anyone else wants to join me :).

We'll be on the Wonder 10/07 also - Self, husband, daughter,
son-in-law and our granddaughter Madison (age 5). We can't wait.:goodvibes

Question for any non-first time DCL travelers.. I was thinking.. I heard that to book Palo and excursions, your account had to be paid in full. When are you able to pay? Did anyone else hear this too? I want to be sure I am paid so I can make at least my Palo reservation. Also, is there a list somewhere of the excursions and their costs so I know what we might want to do?

Thanks in advance.

I believe you can pay anytime you want.

There is a list of excursions on the Disney cruise website - I haven't looked at it in a while, but I'm pretty sure it lists the prices, too, along with a description of each.

Funny, although I have thought and thought about how to schedule Palo and various excursions, after talking with DH last night I think we are just going to try to relax and not book too many events. I was worried that if we did dinner at Palo we'd miss either a nice dinner at one of the restaurants and/or one of the shows; the only way to really avoid this is to schedule Palo on one of the nights you have a restaurant twice - but not on the Pirate night - I was going nuts!

As for Nassau, I'm thinking we will walk or cab it to a beach (I've heard of Cable beach, and the beach by a nearby hotel... the Windham? Can't remember). What are other people thinking of doing?

We're thinking of booking the Comfort Suites for the day so we can use Atlantis facilities. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from the Comfort Suites to Atlantis? Thanx.

This sounds like the same hotel we've booked. It is .1m from Atlantis Paradise Island. I understand it is just across the street. Now, how hard is it to cross the street, I do not know ;). I do know that to get to the hotel we have to take a taxi from the port to the hotel (and that scares me). I hear the drives can drive absolutely crazy.

Also, when booking this, don't forget to check the 'rates'. The AAA and the internet rates are less then 'standard' rates.

Maybe we'll see you there :).

My daughter (10) and I are doing a "girls only cruise". It's our first Disney Cruise. I know she'd love to connect with other kids her age, and I'd love to have some adult company :yay: :yay:

Hi wwwosie:

I'm also doing the cruise with my DD - she'll be 7. Seems we have lots of girls going on this trip, particularly the 7-10 age group. They should have lots of fun!

Terri

Welcome Terri!

I haven't been on the board much lately, but maybe when the cruise gets closer we can have the kids e-mail each other. (My girls are 8 and 9).

I can't wait for the cruise!

We will also be on the October 7th sailing of the Wonder. It will be me, my husband, our 3 year, 15 year old step son, Grandma and Grandpa. It sounds like everyone's kids are either to old or to too young. The 15 year is worried about meeting anyone his age. But he has no porblems making friends.

Hey Guys!

Just booked all my shore excursions and Palo's for dinner and brunch. Everything opened up right at midnight eastern time! Was able to get everything I wanted except the massage on sea day. Managed to get a cabana massage at Castaway Cay instead. :cool2: I was surprised that alot of the times were already gone, so don't wait too long! Good Luck!

Terri

Congrats for getting your reservations booked. We have to wait until 75 days out... hopefully they reserve some spots for those folks.

Counting down to fun times!:thumbsup2

Sorry it took some time to respond..

Knowing my 10 year old daughter she'll have not only everyone's email but will have arranged meets and lemonade dates with everyone before the cruise. You should have seen her plan her 10th birthday to make sure kids who didn't know each other would have a chance to meet!:cool1:

I keep joking that I might not wee her the entire time and she keeps joking maybe for dinner, once, if I'm lucky!

Hi all. I just booked Palo for Monday night (that should be our double up night, with the same restaurant repeated later in the cruise) at 6. I figure we'll feed the kids just before 6 on the deck, pizza or burgers or whatever, and then deposit them at the kids' club for a few hours while we eat. Then we can all go see that evening's show together.

We also made reservations for the stingray event on Castaway Cay at 10 a.m. - so if any of you out there with kids in this age range (8 and 9 year old girls) want to join us, that would be fun.

Hope you are all enjoying the summer. We certainly are - we just got a new filter for our pool, and are finally able to have it get nice and clear and blue. Not quite the same as swimming in the Caribbean, but awfully pleasant nonetheless!

Sandy

Hey Sandy:

Already booked the stingray thing for 9am, but maybe we'll see ya when you get there. We are also renting bikes in the afternoon. Will be needing to work off some of that food! We booked our Palo meal for Monday night also but later in the evening and also the brunch on Thursday. Will u be doing the brunch at Palo's also??

Terri

The brunch is fantastic - maybe even more amazing than the dinner - but we aren't going to do it this time, unless I change my DH's mind at some point. He has this crazy idea we should spend most of our time with the kids... :) But I highly recommend it! And I can't wait to see if what so many posters say is true; that when your kids start going to the kids' clubs, they don't want to leave. I'm hoping to strike a good balance between relaxing by the adult pool with no kids around, and having fun together with the whole family.
