On a different note, I think we were the ones who did Ridemakerz with you (Oct 9, right?)! It was our 2 girls, another family with 2 girls, and your son. I commented on how it was funny that 4 out of the 5 kids there were girls! We LOVE our Ridemakerz cars. In fact, my husband picked one up on our last day as well. When we got home he discovered his chassis was broken, and they just sent him a new one, at no charge. Our girls chose a pick-up truck and Mater.

There's no way you could convince me to stay at GCH after reading your story. That $140 is paying for TWO nights at HoJo for us next month. Perhaps to some people losing $140 without any investigation is ok, but for us $140 is a decent chunk of change and the reason we save and plan a year in advance for our trips.

I think my standards for Disney hotels have lowered dramatically. Sure it sucks that we lost that money and the housekeeping was relatively awful, but with the cost of Disney, $140 feels a bit like in the bucket, and we didn't have bedbugs and it wasn't scary dirty.

I stay offsite, and have pretty high standards. I haven't had any of the issues, including the feeling of being robbed, and wondering what was going to be taken the next day.

Our hotel of preference is the Residence Inn Maingate. The rooms are always cleaned well. They go above and beyond making sure we have all we need. We usually have a party in the room during one of our trips, and they are good about arranging for housekeeping to come in early to clean, then to return to clean in the late afternoon afterwards. As for things missing, hasn't happened. In fact, I've come back to a note on the counter with a $20 that was found between the night stand and wall. I wouldn't have missed it, assuming I lost it or spent it.

I was there a week after you. We left our ipod in the room and housekeeping called us when we got home and let us know and mailed it to us. My daughter was so happy because we thought we lost it at the airport.

My complaint was we were in the same room for 6 days staying on DVC pts and never got housekeeping.

So sorry to hear about the hotel experience and the hotel's response. I know the hotel can't magically make it all better but maybe some sincere dismay would have been nice? I wonder if the thief put the Do Not Disturb sign on your door when he/she was in there so housekeeping wouldn't interrupt them?

We did not like the crowds that week. Vowed to pick the slowest week of the year for our next trip.

Yikes! That is very disappointing. We are always contemplating staying at one of the DLR hotels but have never been able to justify the additional expense. Plus we love HOJOs and the service there is top notch.

Thank you for sharing. It's unfortunate when someone has a negative experience. Especially at Disneyland.

Did you get fresh towels and the trash taken out on day 4? I think that's all you get with DVC unless you're staying longer than a week.
