It appears there is no Fish Extender group here on DISboards. There may be FE groups on other sites, but they are not DISboards connected.

If anyone is interested in setting one up, maybe this will help:
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

I don't know whether you can join some other group or not. I only know you can't do it via the DISboards.

Hello everyone just booked this cruise for me and the family. It will be our first Disney cruise, we have been to WDW 3 times in the last 2 years. I am new to this site and me and the wife are very interested in the FE exchange. If anyone can help us out and point us in the right direction with that it would be much appreciated. This cruise it will be me and the wife and our daughter age 7 at time of cruise we are all from Long Island.

Hi! We are from Long Island too! This is our first Disney cruise also! I just joined an fe exchange on Facebook. I know the rules say not to but this is the only site I found people doing the fe exchange. I will attach the site below for you.
You can Join and then there is a fe exchange comment that you can open and add your name to the list. Hope that helps!

Hi folks, just found the thread. I'll be heading all the way from Australia for this cruise! It will be my 4th DCL cruise and my 2nd time on the beautiful Magic (my favourite of all the ships I've sailed!)

My itinerary is a little odd, after the cruise I am heading down to WDW for a week... yes, even after spending a day there on the cruise My partner and I simply couldn't resist sailing out of somewhere other than PC, particularly when the NYC cruises are so rare (plus gives us a good excuse to head back to NYC).

Oh, Boardwalk Gal, we are DVC also...since 2003. We call the Boardwalk and the Grand Floridian Home.

Oh, Does DCL still have DVC parties onboard? (Haven't cruise the DCL since 2007)

DVC will be set up in the terminal prior to boarding and will host several get togethers during the cruise. we just came off of a 4 day they had 2 meets on that one.

We are super excited because we just booked our first DCL cruise yesterday. We are from Queens, NY but I'm grew up on LI (hi to all the LI people here! )

We are cruising newbies and this will be our first cruise and we are so happy that it's going to be a Disney cruise. We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary on the trip. We are so floored that the dates actually coincided!

We will have our 2 kids with us (she will be 3 and he will be 8 months). If anyone is also bringing kids, we should meet up on the cruise so the kids can get to have a week long playdate!

If anyone has any first time cruising tips for me, send them my way! By the way, the FE sounds really fun! Is anyone on this thread taking the lead on this?

Booked the 2nd day the cruise was available which feels like eons ago.
We (wife, daughter: 4 at the time of the cruise) will be on our first DCL and cant wait. We're from Queens and couldnt be happier that DCL decided to comeback to NYC. We were planning an April '16 cruise and then this was announced so it was a no brainer to wait the extra 6 months. My daughter never experienced Halloween yet b/c of various friend/family obligations the last couple of years so the cruise will be her first time celebrating Halloween. We took my daughter to WDW in September '14 and had a blast, she still talks about it and we are hyping her up for the cruise. The 1 day at WDW will be a whirlwind having to try and hit Epcot/Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. Fingers crossed for good sailing weather out of NYC.

Hi everyone... it's been awhile since I have been on the DIS boards, but the kids and I will be on this cruise. We last sailed out of NYC August 17th 2012. Any repeat cruisers on this one? My kids made so many friends on that cruise, they are adults now..so if there are any other then-teens that have become adults, it would be cool to have them hang together.

I'm here! I know what you're saying about "where is everyone". Maybe everyone else is on Facebook? My DW and I can't wait for this cruise. We have cruised out of New York before when we did the New York to Canada cruise. One of the advantages is we live in South Western Connecticut and we are only 35 minutes away from the port. I like saving on airfare. More money to put towards our next Disney cruise.

You are so lucky! We are coming up from VA. My 16 yo is coming in from MA, so he will take Amtrak from Boston to Penn Station. I can drive and pay tolls and parking, grab him from PENN or we take the train from VA and meet him at PENN. Sadly..they cheaper option is driving with tolls and parking.

Any trivia people here? I LOVE trivia...my DS20 is the Disney movies expert. Last time we cruised (Aug 2012 NYC) I would ask him to meet me at the trivia. It always came down to me and this one guy, who was at ALL the trivia games (so was I..LOL). He would always beat me by a few points. My son would not show up. The last trivia game of the cruise, it was ON. He was sitting there with his wife. I told him my "ACE" was coming. I threatened my son's life is he didn't show up. Needless to say..DS showed up and we I finally got 1st place!

so..that is where I will be. If it is a trivia game, I will be there..with or without my DS
