Trishy...

Both are well thought out ideas...

but we're simple folk...our vote is for option 1 room to room. Why make it more work and more complicated.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hugs,

I just thought since MoranClan had offered to do the door magnets for the scavenger hunt, I'd run it by her if she thought doing different color groups would be possible. Any thoughts on this? Thanks you guys!!

Run it by HIM..hahahaah :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Formal Night: If you want to get into that Tux thing. Go for it. HOWEVER: It is more than acceptable to wear a suit instead.

Semi-Formal Night: Just a tie with a shirt works but if you want to spruce it up, go for a jacket too. No big deal.

Casual Nights: Wear a golf shirt or a dress shirt w/o the tie.

Ironing: Forget ironing. Pack all your clothes as best you can to avoid wrinkles. Send out your dress clothes for pressing (not cleaning) on the first night. It won't cost you that much and then the hassle is out of the way.

Space in your cabin: If you are not staying in a suite, which most of us are not. Make a little more space for yourselves. Especially bathroom counter/shelf space. Bring 2 over the door shoe holders like you find at Target. Use one for shoes and misc. stuff. Use the other for bathroom stuff, sun screen, brushes, curling irons, etc. It will just keep stuff organized and out of the way.

Bring a power strip. At least a short one. You might need it ladies when you are trying to get ready and you are out of accessible outlets.

Bonine is better than Dramamine for motion sickness. They sell it at Walgreens, Wal-Mart and a couple other drug stores. Cheapest at Wal Mart.

Do not get a massage or facial when you are going to go the beach or the pool afterwards. Not a good idea. It is a sunburn waiting to happen. The Castaway Cay cabana massage rocks but you can't really go snorkeling after you are done. So think about this one.

Spa: The prices can be cheaper if you go to the spa on a port day. People tend to get off the ship so the prices can be less and usually more appointments are open.

That is all for now.

Oh wait! I forgot something. The Heads Up Bar is terrible! You don't want to go anywhere near there. It is no fun and no one smiles over there.
(Beano: Do you think anyone will believe me?)

OMG!!! :rotfl:Sorry about that Bobby!! I just saw that - oopsy!:o

RonnieJo: Thanks! That's the one I'd prefer too.

TiggerandPooh: I was thinking Sunday @ about 1 in the Atrium. Shouldn't be crowded at that time and it's indoors in case it's windy outside.

The atrium is located on Deck 3 midship. It's centered between Promenade Lounge and Beat Street so depending on what's happening on the ship that day and also depending on how many people meet up, we could hopefully pull up a lounge somewhere, grab some drinks and chat.

Hi everyone,

Can't remember If I checked in today...kind of a lazy rainy Sunday here in Canada.

I can't believe how many people from DIS will be together on this cruise. I am sure it is not so unusual but I think it is great and I look forward to meeting you all.

For those who have cruised Eastern in October...do the seas get very ruff??? On average, I know you can't predict the weather but on a basic day what will the seas be like.

Hope you all have a great day.

Kim

Hey all,

Just a footnote here regarding the DIS party in our suite, and the kids:

Ronnie and I love kids as much as anybody, (We even love our own, sometimes!) and we welcome them all to our suite as much as anybody else.

But, the party IS for the adults, so we hope to have the kids come by with mom and dad, meet the other kids, and then skeedaddle! ;) Hopefully, they will then spend time together having a blast all over the ship.

If there's one safe place to leave your kids unsupervised, it's the Disney Magic. So, (IMO), let them go have their fun, and enjoy what is their vacation too!

They can eat candy, we can drink wine and beer! :rotfl:

It's all quite innocent ; we just don't want anyone bringing their kids into a situation that they don't approve of.

SO... please bring them, but make sure they leave before the less inhibited ladies flash the passing ships!

Kim - this will be our 6th October cruise, and we have never had what we would consider to be really rough seas. A little choppy maybe, but bothersome? Nope.

No worries, Mon!

Okay, I'll put it out there for all to see. These are the options that have been talked about - you guys decide, take a vote, whatever works to make it fair.

First, we have 43 kids already. There will probably be more added as the date gets nearer and lurkers come out to play. This is a lot of kids for one deck. I'm taking from "Ginger"s multiple Halloween experiences to propose splitting the kids into groups - about 12 each - so 4 groups. We can have adult chaperones and/or older sibling chaperones. The groups can be split by age, but that would separate some siblings. Otherwise, we could separate in a way to keep families together. Here's the options:

Option 1 - Room to room ToT'g
Each group starts on a different deck and work their way down - when they get to Deck 2, they go up to Deck 8 and work their way down from there. This way there would be one group at a time on the decks. (this is the option most used by Dis'rs and is the easiest)

Option 2 - Scavenger Hunt ToT'g
Each group starts at a different stateroom marked by a magnet. Each group/magnet has a matching color to ensure each room gets ToT'ed. This is complicated, but not impossible.

If we don't want to separate groups and just have a free for all, well, that's an option, but it will make it hard on the younger children. I just think there should be some organization so the kids don't get frustrated or hurt. With any of the options, there will be a map made of the ToT'g cabins to make them easier to find.

I just thought since MoranClan had offered to do the door magnets for the scavenger hunt, I'd run it by her if she thought doing different color groups would be possible. Any thoughts on this? Thanks you guys!!

Option 2 sounds like fun but too much work. The kids will have a blast doing either option. So, why not pick the less complicated one for the parents that are planning it.

Hey, man, I love the way you guys think. Option 1 seems to be the most popular.

The ship is quite large and with the stabilizers, you really won't feel it moving all that much. A hotel on the ocean.

I don't think the kids would really want to be hanging out with the adults anyway. My guess is they will all want to go with their friends, either in the clubs or around the ship. My kids would definitely ixnay on the party. There'd be a lot of comments like, "You smell like old people...and soap" from my crew.;) Also, DCL will most likely be starting up their kid Halloween festivities for the afternoon about that time, from what I've heard.

Good luck to you 75 day out cruisers - hope you get all the excursions, palo and spa ressies you want. Wishing you the best.:goodvibes

The party lasts for about an hour so you can always come up to meet us and go down to party and then come back. Or vice versa. We will be multiple trips to the bar during it so we will be up and down as well.

On that thought...is the drink station on deck 9 open during the sail away party??

Still haven't figured out what we are going to do for excursions, but I did find out that the Stingray area at Castaway Cay will be opening in September. It will be between the bar and the teen beach and the stingrays will be "groomed" so that they don't hurt you. Disney will also be donating a portion of the cost of the excursion to the Wildlife Conservation fund they have, and you will get one of the buttons for it.
Sue Ellen

That is great. Does anyone know yet when we'll be able to start booking it?

Suprisingly enough, I had no trouble getting spa ressies and excursion ressies today. I thought that they would be more booked than that. But lucky me. It took me a while with the Disney website because my password was screwed up but everything worked out in the end.

Does anyone know what kind of champagne Fran and Dave brought to this shindig a couple parties ago? I am trying to get that. It was so good!!!!

All the bars are usually open at sailaway but some are used as catering stations to fill trays for the waiters and waitresses walking around.

The best bar during the sailaway party is the one at the Quiet Cove Pool. No line.

I did throw out the idea of having a second meet for Sunday - but thusfar have not heard from any interested families. It sounds like the first meet may be the only meet - with the exception of meeting for Trick or Treating. Share your thoughts.:goodvibes

We (DW and I also could bring DD11 and DS8) might be able to make it.

That sounds great to us. I would be willing to help out with the groups, but DW and I have Palo brunch booked from 1030-1030. Just let us know if you need help.

Ummm ... da' Beano's not kidding. Of course, it wasn't anyone I knew. I don't recall the folks on that Carnival ship complaining either:earseek: (Hey Beano, you destroyed all the copies of the video, right?)

Hey Folks,

It looks as if most of us are in favor of option #1. As fun as a scavenger hunt sounds it would be difficult as our numbers are growing. Both Trent and I are in favor of option #1 and Trent has offered to help take a group around and I will stay and man the mini bar er ah.... room :rotfl:

Trishy, Thanks for putting this in gear. The kids are going to love it

We will be wearing the Dis Shirts and meet on deck 10 but will probably end up on deck 9. We are gonna need fresh drinks anyway (thanks Beano for the tip) :drinking1

Tarzanman, Thanks for all the great tips. Some things only experince will teach you.

Well gota get to bed so I can get up bright and early to make our ressies :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
