October 28th is too early for Christmas ads!

Here in Canada it seems out-of-place to see Christmas ads until after Remembrance Day, which is a solemn observance held on November 11. There is some holiday merchandise in stores already but I wouldn't expect to see decorating until after Remembrance Day either.

Wow, Some stores here will already be marking down Christmas merchandise by November 11th. We had to replace some of our outside Christmas lights, got them at the hardware store on October 8th. Won't put them up until December, but I was in the hardware store last week and they were almost sold out.

The reason why you are starting to see Christmas commercials being shown early is because they want to get people a jumpstart on preparing for Christmas and with November starting Friday you'll begin to see more Christmas commercials being aired. Because I noticed this year there is few Halloween commercials and I remember whenever October would begin there would be tons of Halloween commercials to get people ready for Halloween but now it seems that Halloween has been forgotten about and people are focusing more on Thanksgiving and Christmas now. I saw that same Old Navy commercial and it shocked me that they are already promoting Christmas and Halloween is just around the corner and Thanksgiving is coming in November. But I have seen commercials for Home Depot Lowe's and Walmart already promoting Christmas decor and it surprised me that this is the way the commercials are promoting the holidays now

We like to get a "real" Christmas wreath for the smell, but if I wait til Thanksgiving they're gone. Still seems to be pushing things to get a wreath by mid-November.

DH had problems finding replacement icicle lights last year so he ordered some through Amazon a couple of weeks ago.

I've been working on DH's Christmas quilt for nearly seven months. If I waited til after Thanksgiving it wouldn't be finished in time.

I still get appalled at Christmas commercials on t.v. before Thanksgiving.

As much as I love Christmas commercials (I really do), this is too early for me too. I just saw one the other day, but I don’t remember the ad because I ignored it as I was cooking dinner. I’m ok with Christmas commercials after November 1st - they’re so bright, cheerful and happy - I love them. I’ll especially love them after this election is over - I can’t take much more toxicity coming out of my TV every day.

I just saw my first Christmas (or maybe it was just a holiday) commercial from Old Navy! Too early !
Yeah - they have been showing these on yotube lately - really annoying. even worse the adds are so much longer and un-skippable now on Roku.

Lowes and Kohls already have all the Christmas stuff out and nothing much left for Halloween at Lowes.

We just put up our Halloween decorations over the weekend - and now they are pushing Christmas already

I’ve been seeing Christmas commercials for a couple of weeks now. I went to the store yesterday and saw gingerbread house kits and eggnog on display. Gets you right out of the fall/halloween spirit. But since pumpkin spice everything started in August, maybe it’s time.

Expect to see valentines candy in December.

I'm old enough to remember when the holidays were kept separate. The day after Halloween, the Thanksgiving cards and merchandise would be put out. The day after Thanksgiving, though, was the HUGE event. That's when department stores would reveal their window displays for everyone to admire. There was such an air of excitement.

Nowadays, stores start putting out Christmas stuff in early October. Hallmark even has Christmas ornament events in July. Christmas gets started earlier and earlier every year, and then stores wonder why their Black Friday sales are so abysmal.

Oh, well. Happy HallowThanksMas, everyone!

I saw the first one weeks ago. Balsam Hills Trees. Last night during the Voice, there was an Old Navy one, a Macy's one, a Walmart one, and the Balsam Hills one. Could we at least wait until Nov 1 before we start getting bombarded by them?

I saw Pumpkin Spice Egg Nog at my market a few weeks ago. Two things I will never, ever eat-Pumpkin Spice or Egg Nog.

I've seen several holiday commercial so far. There was one for Old Navy last night and I saw Wayfair this morning. I don't mind it 11/1 and later, but it's just too early right now. I was in Buc-ee's 4x this weekend and I just power walked past all of the Christmas goodies. I was in Kroger last night and they had all of the egg nog ready to go. In fact, even the holiday ice cream flavors were out. My brain wasn't ready for anything peppermint, but I grabbed some egg nog ice cream just to see. I had a little after dinner and nope...not ready. So, it's going to sit there until the end of the week.

I saw a Holiday Time one for Disneyland last night. But I guess since Holiday time starts 11/15, they want to start getting the word out.

I guess I am in the minority. I don't mind them. I kind of love the Old Navy ones, because they always have a cute jingle and they are just fun. But I do love Christmas, so maybe that is why I don't care. Also it is a welcome relief from the bombardment of political ads. I can't take those any more, so they could advertise Easter right now and I would be fine.
