October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014" Part 2

So here we are less than 2 months to go and I find out I have to have my gallbladder removed within the next week or so :confused3 I should be fully recovered before the cruise, but I know it will also require a change in diet. I'm worried that all the food I'm looking forward in partaking in on the cruise will now be on the "do not eat" list :sad2: Anyone else sail on DCL sans-gallbladder? Is this something I'll need to bring up when we sit down to eat as far as possible food restrictions?

DH had his gallbladder removed several years ago, at first :guilty: there were certain foods that would bother his stomach, now he eats anything :rotfl:. There are several items to pick from on the menu's. :scratchin Should be able to go without special requests. Unless of course any food allergies.

So earlier this year DH & I were talking with the inlaws about a possible fall cruise as FIL has lots of medical issues & thought a cruise would be easier than WDW. Then in May FIL had new health concerns. So inlaws just not up to travel, so I figured that we wouldn't be going. Then I saw the great deals on the VGT for this Oct 25th Western Fantasy sailing & now just DH & I want to go. We have never cruised before & FIL is doing well enough to travel knowing his home with active MIL. So in last few days we've been talking about taking this cruise in 7 wks! We both just asked for time off of work & got approval. We also went today to apply for passports. So now we just need to bite the bullet & book the cruise. Is this nuts??? Our WDW trip in 2011 was very last minute, but we were staying @ BC, this would be going to new countries, lol! Our WDW trip was this same time last yr & we loved Halloween at WDW, so this looks cool on the cruise.

I don't think you're crazy. DH's cousin and her DH are wanting to come with us but have been holding out, and GT rates might be what tip them over the edge on coming too! :cool1:

Unless you have to have an open procedure, you will, likely, not even know it's gone :) I had the laparoscopic procedure done and went back to work the next day. No fast food or greasy food for about a week or two...and then good to go! I think you will probably be able to eat anything you want by cruise time but I would recommend small potions.

That's what I've heard from most people who've had theirs removed (mines going to be laparoscopic as well), but I've also heard horror stories of people not recovering well and food giving them issues weeks and/or months post-op. I guess it's one of those things where everyone's recovery is different, I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones who bounces back well :worried:

Sorry to hear that! To echo what others have said, most don't need to change their diet much after the surgery. Mine was pretty smooth all things considered. I hope your procedure goes well!

It's just such a great price! Did your cousins book?

Not at all crazy nor nuts.

Bite the bullet. Join us. :cool1:

I'm so close now! We will know by this wk if we're going!

What's everyone's favorite thing to do on the cruise?

I tried to PM you, but disboards gave me an error message saying that I couldn't PM because I have not yet written 10 posts yet, so I figured this is the only way I can communicate with you. :) Here is what I wrote:

Hi! I am sorry that this note may be coming at such a late time, but this is my first cruise. My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary on the cruise and would love to get involved in any way we can. It took me forever to find out how to sign up for FE, but I would love to participate in the FE if it isn't too late. I don't know if it's possible for us to even participate since we don't have a room, it just says GTY. It's just my husband and I, no kids. Anyway, if it's too late, that's okay...I don't want to create extra work for anyone! Thanks!

We just booked our cruise on Friday. Just found out about the FE fun, and we would love to join in...we just don't know how. It's our first cruise, and my first time chatting on a discussion forum:)

Not yet, but they just found out they're expecting their first baby, so they might hold off.

My favorite thing to do on the cruise? Besides eating? :rotfl2:

Eating can totally be your favorite thing! :rotfl: What's you're second favorite thing?

I'm hoping to book this cruise this wk, we're just working out some kinks as this is very last minute for us. This will be our 1st cruise & it's just DH & myself celebrating 13years! We have not been blessed with kids, so it just the 2 of us. Do you have any excursions booked?

I love that there's lots of last minute planners for this cruise like me! Will you be traveling with you DH & kids? Do you have excursions booked?

Hi Angeejoe! Just pull the trigger and book it! That's what we FINALLY did. The cruise will be a blast! We have not been blessed with kids either :(, so it's just the 2 of us, too, but that won't stop fun! We didn't book any excursions because they are so expensive and I think we'll have plenty to do even if we don't book any. What excursions are you thinking of booking?

No excursions planned for now. My friends suggested the submarine. I have been to WDW so many times that I've lost count, but this will be our first disney cruise. So excited!

Probably relaxing in the adult pool. My husband and I were in the pool on our last cruise, just kind of floating, totally soaking in the relaxing atmosphere. Then this guy walked by, looked at my husband and said, "Hey, why don't you relax?" :rotfl:
