I just upload my photographs to a photograph hosting site called photobucket and I just copy and paste the "IMG CODE" link for the photograph from that site onto my post.

This is one of my photo albums on that site:

if you have a look you will see how it works. There may well be an easier way to do it though which I haven't come across and hopefully someone else may know.

You know how we were talking about having a special post for all the things we will be doing on the cruise - similar to that which Buckeye Gal has on her thread. I was thinking it might be a good idea to start a new thread with all the specific info on the first page. Then we can link to that from this thread.
Also we will have a thread to move to when we have to move from this thread when it gets too big - which I'm sure it will do over the next few months as things get closer!

Please let me know what you think about this idea. I don't think we can add onto the first page of this thread unless one of the first page posters wants to edit one of their posts. It may be easier to start a new one.

Thanks.

and this is my DH and I at my brothers wedding. Again not a great shot.

This is Adam and I on our wedding day last October. We have each lost weight since then, but you should be able to spot us (Adam had a bad cold, but still managed to smile and stay lucid through most of the day) :goodvibes

I saw a thread on the halloween on the high seas board that was similar ... is that no longer being used?

... I was thinking it might be a good idea to start a new thread with all the specific info on the first page......

Just in case the mods may not want to have two active threads out there for the same cruise, I can suggest a couple of alternatives.

1) On our first thread, which eventually was closed due to length, the "almighty go-to post" (now post #6) was burried in the thread as post number 577 (that number was burned into everyone's head!!!) I added a link to it in my siggy and others who frequently post did as well. That way most likely, you would only have to go back 1-3 pages to find that signature that had the link in it. Then once they opened up our "Part 2" thread, I hopped right on and put it up there on Page 1 and changed the link in my siggy.

2) Another potential option is you could ask a mod to intentionally start your "Take 2" thread now instead of waiting until you get to Page 250.

One VERY important lessons learned was that if you create a "go to" post on this thread, make sure you block/copy/save the code to a Word or Notepad document from time-to-time. It took me a long time to go back and put the links and emoticons back in to Post #6 because you can no longer go back to the previous thread to copy the code. Furthermore, as I learned from the Pop Century FAQ thread that I've compiled info on, if you ever mistakenly delete content, you have a backup to plug back in there. This happened to me just in the past month. I was in Post #1 to make an addition, and didn't realize that at some point I had about 2/3rds of the post (which is LONNGGGG) blocked and deleted until after I saved it. :scared1: I would have just DIED if I hadn't had a backup of the text code saved!!!

Regardless, you have the right idea to make it easyily accessible for people to find info! Good luck!

Hello from the September DD cruise :wave2: ...I just posted this on our thread, but was curious if your DD is the same now.

I just logged into DCL and saw this:

Saturday, September 27, 2008 Port Canaveral
Sunday, September 28, 2008 Castaway Cay
Monday, September 29, 2008 At Sea
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 Grand Cayman
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 Cozumel
Thursday, October 2, 2008 At Sea
Friday, October 3, 2008 Castaway Cay
Saturday, October 4, 2008 Port Canaveral

The main DCL pagestill shows Costa Maya for the double dips, but when I logged in with confirmation number it is showing what I posted above. I was just curious what was showing for your cruise when you all log in to the DCL website.

ETA: I looked up the Sept Cruise on the Grand Cayman Port Website and it looks like you guys are scheduled for the Grand Cayman as well according to that schedule.

So the next question is what Grand Cayman like

Thanks Kimberley - you are a massive help! Perhaps if we just put all the info onto one post and then all remember what number it is and put links to it if we want to, then transfer the post to the front page of part 2 when the need arises. So now I will need a list of everything we need to have on the info post:

This is what I have thought of - have I missed anything out? Any other suggestions?

roll call info
fish extender exchange
lanyards and name badges
t-shirts
link to Halloween on the High Seas and chat room info
Dis meets on board
Trick or Treat for the kids
The excursions
the itinerary

I would be quite happy to put together this post based on what has already been posted on this thread. If anyone has any objections then feel free to let me know. I just think it would help to have everything in one place, especially when new cruisers join us.

Shoshie - that is a gorgeous wedding photo!

I just looked up our reservation on the DCL website and the schedule has Tuesday, October 28th listed as Grand Cayman. :confused3

I don't know whether this is a good or a bad thing - I was looking forward to the Mayan ruins tour at Costa Maya and it would have been great to contribute to the local school. It must mean the port is still not ready and that means the locals will be without the income from the cruise industry for even longer which is definitely not a good thing.

I'm sure Grand Cayman is a lovely place to visit though.

I see Lisa hasn't made it over here yet to update you guys, so I'll take the bullet. One of our Sept 27 Double Dip cruisers just made these postings:

Just received a phone call from DCL.... Officially changed - Costa Maya has been changed to Grand Cayman.

Received the call about 30 minutes ago around 7pm EDT. I was told that DCL is canceling all the Costa Maya ports, for our cruise and all the following special cruises too. The port is still too damaged for us to go there or dock. All they offered was if I wasn't happy with the itinerary change is to move to another cruise itinerary and date.......

I also just got an email from Dreams Unlimited stating it's official for our Sept cruise. Personally, I'm disappointed in the itinerary change, however, I'm very sad for the native islanders. No doubt they really need us there for their economy. Very sad.

We did Grand Cayman on our original cruise back in 2005. You have to tender in, which is kind of a pain, and you can't buy any liquors at the stores. They only deliver to ships but DCL won't accept deliveries, so it's a catch 22. We were bummed because Grand Cayman is Tortuga....POTC anyone?! We wanted to bring home Tortuga Rum but couldn't. Kind of cool to think this was such a pirate area. Tori was only 2 1/2 at the time so we were limited to the semi-submersible tour, which was okay but too expensive for what it was. So, now that we will once again have a 2 year old, we're back to checking into what things we can do at port. Bummer.

Snorkeling is a big thing here since the water is so beautiful. I know they lost a lot of coral in 2004/2005 because of the storms, so maybe things will be better now!

I just got the e-mail from DU regarding the change as well :(

I looked at the Grand Cayman excursions and not one was appealing to me. I was also really hoping to go to the ruins and the thought of helping schools was a great feeling.

I am super bummed that we wont be going to Costa Maya. That was part of the reason we booked this cruise. Last year we went to both Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Not that Grand Cayman wasnt nice, it is just very expensive. We went to the turtle farm which was nice, but now we have to find something different to do this time with a 3 and 5yr old. I so wanted to see the ruins!

We are up for both lanyards as well as name tags- Rob and Laura. We have 2 children as well. Just let us know if we end up doing their names as well or just a logo. Our last cruise, we only did handwritten nametags for the kids when we had our meet and greet. They had some games for the kids one of which was that they had to find the child whose name they drew. It helped to get them talking to all the kids.
