....Dana - just wondering if we want to put name tags on the children? Don't know if I want to have their name easily read by strangers - other than our dis friends of course! (Sorry, this is my old Child Protection hat coming out!)......

:wave2: Hi again! I lurked over here once more. No worries....you don't have to be on your best behavior for me! :rotfl:

I couldn't help but comment on Valerie's good point. On our name cards, we are putting the DIS name of the primary poster on everyone's card who's a part of that traveling party. If I recall correctly, we did decide that across the board we would make everyone's to also include their real first name (so there would be a scrapbook embellishment of course!), looking much like this prototype. Note the real name is large, and the DISer's name is right underneath it.

chrisFont2.jpg

If parents do not want a name on the kids' tag, the kids can still wear their lanyard (in our case we've ordered matching lanyards) so they are recognized as being part of the group and slip out the name card OR bring a marker to wipe out their name. So this is certainly something I agree that should be up for discussion in your group. It looks like you guys also have a logo, so as mentioned, one option would be to make some generic tags with just the logo for the children.

I've given Dana some costs and how we've managed that, and I'm sure our Lanyard Team Leader will get back to her soon to answer all her remaining questions so you guys can move forward on this.

Dana made reference to our first page. Certainly feel free to check out Post #6 (link in my siggy). Perhaps it will inspire someone to head up something fun for your group too!

Take care!

Interesting facts: we have 43 children participating: 28 girls and 17 boys. Of the girls only one name is duplicated twice (we have two Rachels) and of the boys no name is duplicated!
Please let me know if you want to add your family to the list. I will need the names and ages of the children, and also the cabin number if available. Also let me know if you are celebrating any birthdays!

I will be splitting this main list into two separate lists once the cabins numbers are all available to make things more manageable.

On the subject of Fish Extenders - Amy - yours is amazing!:worship:
Thanks:goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome mat! Indeed "busy" we have been! It takes up a lot of time, but people are so excited and looking forward to many of the things we have planned so it's totally worth it!

I would LOVE to join you!! Let's see....at the rate of $25 for checked luggage in excess of one and $75 for over-the-weight limit of 50 pounds...yea...I'll pay you back for that! All I need is a pillow and blanket on the verandah! :rotfl2:

Hello fellow cruisers.
Sorry I have been away for so long:worried: Life is crazy here. Angelina is still suffering and on top of everything else she has a sinus/ear infection... I feel like I have missed so much and I can not believe how fast the time is going. I am so thankful that I keep a tote full of all of our cruise stuff Pirate gear and etc.
I really want to go on the ruin tour in costa maya but my DH doesn't want me to go through anyone other then Disney. He plans on staying on the ship with Angelina and I will be taking my 12 yr old son.He worries about us and knows if anything goes wrong he would like us to be under Disneys care.
Amy I love your FE... I want to try and make one but lord knows it wont come out like yours!!!!!
Have a great day everyone:sunny:

Sorry to hear that Angelina is still having problems Michelle - sending lots of  and hoping that things start to improve very soon for you all.

Here is the helpful response I got from Erik:Hey Dana,

Well since I "stole" the lanyards project from a very dear friend on the DIS (kpros) who did them on the TransAtlantic repo last year....I suppose it's only fair I share my stolen information as widely as possible, huh? hehehe

The site he used and that I have used since is: www.kennyproducts.com

That site sells the lanyards and the name badge holders (we are doing name badges that are 3" by 4". For this cruise we bought the badge holders, the 5/8" custom lanyards, we got the "bulldog clip" and we paid a little extra for a safety release buckle on the lanyard. The prices are right on the website but for us they worked out to be like $1.45 each (they are cheaper the more you buy). I am printing the nametags myself. I laid them out using Powerpoint and am using a color laser printer to double side print them on a thin card stock paper then I'm cutting them myself. Because I'm doing a lot of the manual labor myself I estimated the cost low and decided each lanyard was about $2.00 including paper, supplies, and the lanyards themselves from KennyProducts. We then estimated the total number we needed, split that evenly between all the folks who had volunteered to help underwrite the cost of the project (there were about 20 of us) and I had everyone mail me their "donation". (To thank the members of the "lanyard team" they are all listed on the BACK of the lanyard name badges by screen name).

The Kenny Products website is very easy to use and their customer service line is very easy, too. The have the disney font ("Waltograph" it's called) on file there so you can even have the text printed around the lanyard in Disney letters. Here is what ours are going to look like for the Double Dip:

(We got black lanyards with white print but you can get a variety of color combinations)

Let me know if there is anything else you need or want to know! :)

Erik

Right now there is a sale. Free shipping and total cost per lanyard is about 1.25. I think Erik rounded up to add in printing supplies. For their 300 their donors each put in about $30. We could get a list of people interested in being a donor or just get a list of people interested. If 20 people gave $20 it would cover our costs. If we order per individual and we go less than 250 it will cost more per lanyard.

I don't want to push people into this. I just wanted to put the possibilities out there. What do you think?:confused3

Michelle, I am sorry that Angelina is still having problems. Sending you  too and praying things turn around soon.

Dana

Hello again!

Great to see Erik was able to fill you in on more info regarding the lanyards!

With your comments about wanting to keep up with us and read Trip Reports, you all got me to thinking that it would be great to have these indexed so we can read one another's reports without overlooking any. So, the almighty Post #6 now has an index of Pre-Trip reports, and I'll keep that updated as more and more get started. Hopefully this will help you guys, too, to find more info from our experiences.

I think it's a great idea.

We would definitely be interested in having a special lanyard for the cruise.

You can my family of 6 to the list - do you need names?
I would be happy to act as a donor if not enough people choose to have one.

Perhaps all our ideas for things now need to be put in one place, onto a post similar to that of Buckeye Gal's almighty "post 6". What do you think? It would be easier for cruisers to see what we had planned for our cruise if we did this.

in Buckeyes post 6 page she is linking all her posts to it , just an idea

This is what my family looks like (or rather looked like 12 months ago which is the last time they had a group photo)

onmainst.jpg

Left to right as you look at it we have Tony (DH), Daniel (DS, now 14), Taryn (DD, now 17), Louise (DSD now 17) and Stephen (DSS, now 18)

because I am always taking the photo there are no recent family shots with me included, so this is one someone took of Tony and I:

Wow you sure do have a big family. :) I totally understand about the faimly shots without you in them. Its usually the same way with us too. I am always behind the camera, which is fine with me. i love taking pictures! I drive my family nuts but we sure do have some great memories.:cool1:

I will be the one with the wild girls, quiet husband and the camera to my head the whole time. :rotfl2: I'm just worried about the girls having meltdowns. Sometimes my youngest has some pretty good ones, so much that I worry about people thinking I'm hurting her.:( She likes to scream.:worried: My DH isnt worried about it since she is really looking forward to this cruise but he is also a man. I stress over the little things I guess. ::yes:: Oh well, I'm sure I'm just worried over nothing. I know all little ones have meltdowns at times. I just hope it doesnt happen too much.:rotfl:

My youngest DD is learning to swim finally! She keeps telling us she has to learn so she can swim on the ship! If I knew thats all it would take to get her in the water I would have planned this trip 2 years ago!:lmao: We all swim like fish and she usually just sits and watches us. :( She has always been so afraid of the water for some strange reason. Oh well, it looks like those days are over for us!

I wonuldn't worry too much about the meltdowns - even those with big kids remember what it was like having little children and I'm sure nobody would be thinking anything bad about it. Little kids always get stressy when they are over-excited and tired and hot, and I think the Disney cruise will provide all of those stress factors by the bucketload. I certainly don't think you will be alone. I don't think we will be immune from mood swings either - with 3 teenagers - but at least they can go off to the cabin by themselves to cool down if necessary.
