October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

The Florida sun is really really nice!!! It is the perfect temperature here in Orlando!!

I know this is going to sound funny since this is the last chat before the cruise but how do you get into chat? I am usually working at night when you have chats but now that I am in relaxation mode I want to stop in and say hello. I clicked the link on the main page but it said that I needed a password.?

Anyway, see ya real soon!

Eileen,

I will pm you the info. Don't use the CHAT link on the DIS - that's for their chat. Ours is on a private website set up by agraygirl (Arlene).

Packing is all most done!! :goodvibes I only have a few things left to pack...all the last minute items for the kids and I. My DH has not packed anything! Why does he wait until the last minute.:headache: It is a good thing I love him so much...;)

Busy day a head!:scared1: I really hate the last minute rush. As much as I tried to have every thing done, it just didn't happen. I have to go this morning and renew my driver's license. This is a new event for me...we have never lived somewhere long enough to renew one.:) Then I need to get the dog ready for the boarding place and drop him off this afternoon. I have a few more things to do on the boys halloween costumes. I wanted to get the house clean...I hate coming home to a messy house. But I don't think I will get to this!:rolleyes1 I am also going to have the kids do some school work!

We will be leaving CA early Friday morning. :dance3: I made Dinner reservations at Ohana's for that night. Then we will be off to MK for the MNSSHP. I hope the weather in Orlando stays nice! I did pack the rain ponchos just incase.;)

I better go and start my day. I will check in later.

We're all packed and just waiting for Keri and the girls to get home from school:banana: . We're staying in Boston tonight then fly out of Logan at 0830hrs tommorrow(Jet Blue).

Hope to meet a few of you folks. We'll be staying at the Hyatt at the airport in Orlando then off to the boat on Saturday.

See Ya real Soon!

Bill, Keri, and the girls
:woohoo:

It will all be fine:grouphug: Just keep thinking - soon I will be on the ship, soon I will be on the ship.

Whichever helps more!!!:flower3:

Hey All,

I too would like to be on chat but have never, ever done one before so need a little help in how/where/what to do. :confused3

:goodvibes Its very sunny and warm here in California. We are experiencing more of our indian-summer type days. I wanna be in the Florida sun and carribbean. Mighty hard to concentrate today. I too have to take dogs to the kennel and get my hair done after work. No roots for me in all those vacation pics. Looking forward to meeting all you guys. :banana: :banana:

If someone can PM me about "chat" I'd appreciate it. What time do you guys get on east coast time? :confused3

Hey all,

Just wondering if any families are going to the parks after the cruise. My DH and I are going to spend Sat-Mon and if anyone else is going, we'd enjoy hooking up with ya. Last year, we went to the park before the cruise so this year we thought we'd try it the other way around. Staying at Wilderness Lodge. Have no dinner reservations anywhere which is not like me. DH said after a week on the ship and ALL the food, we won't be needing to eat much.:rotfl: :rotfl: That's for sure. I am currently on Jenny Craig so this is going to be a true test for me. :scared1: I will be on deck 4 walking and walking and in the fitness center. Of course, there are the spa dates snuck in there too.:cheer2:

Is it really necessary to book floats/tubes/snorkels for CC ahead of time.

We didn't last year and there were plenty available. I think there may be a slight discount if you book in advance for both days at CC, but I think we'll just play it by ear. You probably don't need as many in real life as you would be tempted to reserve either.

Help, I think I'm losing my mind. We have been down here in Disney since Saturday and just now I started thinking about dress code for dinner on non formal / semi formal nights. I'm stuck on my blackberry only and was hoping that someone could post those rules here? Sorry and THANKS!

The only place I think they truly enforce a dress code on-board (other than you must wear a swimsuit in the pools) is Palo. For many, cruise casual means dockers (or equivalent) and a collared shirt (golf or otherwise). I believe they request no shorts or tank tops at cruise casual dinners.

Sandra,

I forwarded you in PM about chat. Hope to see you tonight!

Sean, that is my understanding too. I heard that they even allow jeans now into dinner! The only other thing I can think of is to wear a cover-up or suitable cover when eating at Topsiders.

And, because there is a thread on the main DCL board:

Bow = the front of the ship
Stern = the rear of the ship

Forward = towards the bow
Aft = towards the rear end

Port = the left side of the ship (when facing the bow)
Starboard = the right side of the ship (ditto)

One can really get turned around inside, and be headed the wrong way from what is desired. The anchors on the floor carpet in the hallways mean something, but I don't recall what.

I just remember my brother telling it to me like this:

when you BOW you bend FORWARD

Mom and dad are STERN with your AFT (he used another word here that I won't repeat)

Port = P Starboard = S

As you are looking toward the front of the ship P comes before S - like you're reading left to right P S

The carpet has different colors on the anchors - blue and red I believe. Blue always faces one way and red the other.....supposed to be port and starboard for each color, just can't remember which one

Is blue port or red? sorry, just can't remember!!!

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse!!!

I think the color, and the way the anchors face means something. In normal boating:

Red = port. (think port wine, which is red)

Green = starboard.

The blue means Bow or the front of the ship
Red is for thestern or rear of the ship.

The carpets outside the elevators are a different color depending on which deck it is, but I don't know what they are!

You have got to be kidding!! I'm the only one in chat at almost 9 pm!!! Folks, last chat before the cruise....whassup with that?!
